God this always makes me bawl like a baby. You truly hear someone who lost a friend. Not just an idol but a genuine friend. When I first heard this at work I had to run to the bathroom bc I couldn’t stop crying. I just wanted to reach through my phone and give Kevin a hug.
Thank you for sharing this! I'm so envious of anyone who got to work with him or knew him personally. He seems like he was one of those once in a lifetime kind of people. Everyone who speaks about him absolutely raves and has nothing but wonderful things to say. He was loved by so many people. What an immense talent. Almost 5 years later and his death is still hard.
I honestly think this is by far the most beautiful, heartfelt tribute that anybody has ever payed to Alan. Your words perfectly capture his essence, your tears are the biggest proof that you saw beyond Alan Rickman The Actor. Thank you, Kevin! He is and will sorely be missed. Always.
I'm going to theatre school and all my teachers tell us the best actor ever on both stage and film was Alan Rickman. Even though I'm female and Canadian my dream is to be like Alan Rickman.
Gary Oldman and also Anthony Hopkins are amazingly brilliant. They are both also capable of switching between being a romantic, normal lead, to a serial killer, vampire, dark and complicated characters. I think British stage-trained actors can be some of the best actors ever.
Thank for this amazing tribute to Mr Rickman--you are the only one who has spoken about him that I really think captures the essence of this amazing person. ❤️
There really WAS something special about Rickman that made you LOVE the dude on screen, I can't even imagine how distraught I'd be if I'd actually known and loved him personally. His Hans, his Sheriff, whenever he was on the screen he stole the show - it's as simple as that. Peace be with you Alan, we will always love and miss you.
you probably dont care at all but does anyone know a way to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly forgot my account password. I love any tips you can give me!
@Joe Zavier thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
That guy going "come on, man", how disrespectful!? You'll never have a friend like Alan Rickman so shut up. Listening to Kevin talk about Alan is so moving, I envy everyone who had the privilege of being friends with him.
When I heard Kevin Smith had his heart attack I almost had a heart attack because dear God would I have died to hear he passed away. I have never met Kevin Smith but he is my favorite director of all time. Listening to him speak about someone that important to him... There's no way I can make it through this video with bawling
Totally agreed. I cried. I did. I have no shame. I was always a Rickman fan, he had something about him that was next level and unique. Dude was real on some super human level. I never saw a Rickman performance that I didn't absolutely LOVE. This dude was....amazing. I only WISH I'd have known him myself. I love that Kevin expressed what he did - it will go down in history. Thank You Kevin. If someone tortured me and told me that all I needed to do was renounce my loving for Rickman....I'd tell them to DO THEIR WORST. NOW....if you want to see a Rickman performance you probably haven't yet seen.....check out 1996's "Michael Collins". He plays Irish political figure "Eamon de Valera". As always, he does it on that next level....RIP Alan Rickman - we'll always remember you......................
Alan Rickman was a true Brit, and we love an underdog like Kevin Smith. Kevin is a real filmmaker and real person and I have a hunch that Alan liked that about him.
What a depressing year for our heroes... Lemmy, David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Prince. When Elton John and Stevie Wonder go then that's it. Game Over, man.
Yeah well 2020 was shall we say, erm....pretty shit. Chadwick Boseman, Sean Connery, Kenny Rogers, Max Von Sydow, Ian Holm, Grant Imahara, Kelly Preston, Regis, Kobe, Van Halen, Alex Trebek, RBG...oh and Covid
Kevin Smith uses a lot of foul language. But his HEART? Man when he finally (and not for a long, long, LONG time) leaves this earth, he's going to get the shock of his (after)life when he wakes up behind the Pearly Gates wondering "How the hell did I get HERE?" :^)
Kevin was friends with Alan Rickman, huh? Interesting friendship right there. To me, Kevin being friends with Bruce Willis would make more sense, for some reason.
I'd agree, but people can be weird. My best friend I have basically no similar hobbies with, we met on a fluke, but even though there's a smaller set of things to establish a relationship with, how we interact is more beneficial than having similar interests with. Like how people say opposites attract, things never come across the way you'd expect
Kevin Smith talking about Alan just shows what a brilliant actor and wonderful human being he was ❤❤
TRULY, MADLY, DEEPLY is such a beautiful movie. Definitely worthy of re-discovery.

I’m bawling too.

I wish I was Canadian and my dream is to be like Gary Oldman. However Alan Rickman was amazing, RIP. :(
Where are you from? I love Gary Oldman too. He's such an excellent actor
ovbiously 394 I am from the USA, but I do not live there anymore. I want to live in Canada. Gary Oldman is the best!

Go for it. You can't go wrong striving to be like Alan..... cheers.

I always tear up listening to this. Breaks my heart.
This is beautiful. And also, Kevin Smith does a surprisingly good Alan Rickman impression.
it was quite upsetting to hear Kevin breaking up talking about Alan Rickman. Kevin is an awesome guy, one guy I would like to meet.
you probably dont care at all but does anyone know a way to get back into an Instagram account..?

@Kalel Hank Instablaster ;)

Very moving, thank you. Brought to tears
Very nice tribute. Thanks Kevin.
I'm choked up. Truly, that type of relationship with a hero is so phenomenal. What a gem.

As a student i had the chance to see The Winter Guest at the theater. If you're into Colonel Brandon, see it.
Crying listening to Kevin talk about him
This is awesome! So glad to hear heart warming stories about Alan Rickman.
Alan Rickman was famous in the UK long before Diehard
I wish that someone speaks about me like this when I go

Thank you for having uploaded this.
When you realise you've never heard Kevin Smith speak before, and you think... "so THAT'S what Silent Bob sounds like..."
What a depressing year for our heroes...
Lemmy, David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Prince.
When Elton John and Stevie Wonder go then that's it. Game Over, man.
Forgot Glenn Fry.
When Ozzy passes it will be the end lol
2019 has been a rough year, too. Luke Perry, Valerie Harper, Eddie Money, and Ric Ocasek. May they rest in peace.
Yeah well 2020 was shall we say, erm....pretty shit.

I think it's sad he can't lose the filthy language.
Please watch your language, it would be much better.
