- It became obvious at the 2023 rawhiders gathering that from the time people understand the structure and mechanics of a knot or button, they can enlage bights and parts however much the to cover surface needs.
Goed bezig Jan! Bedankt
Thanks for the video having someone to watch helps me immensely well done sir
Thanks Jan. Looks like your approach also sets the knot straight at once, which is a challenge with the "traditional" method.
Yessir, I believe so. I can't stress it enough though that it was Billy Albin that taught me this way of tying the bomba zurda. The only thing I may have added is to always go under the first bight to understand the structure of the bomba.
Many thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Just one question - are you left-handed? Would good to know because I am right handed und regularly I hold the mandrell with the left and lead the working end with the right... or is that a spcial of this knot?🙈
I would say I got somewhat ambidextruous. Whenever I have to hold bights down in the beginning of a button to keep them from shifting, I hold the mandrell with my right hand. When the button is further along, I switch to holding the mandrell in my left hand and work with the right hand.
Is there a clay that can be placed on the braid. For the body of a knot?
I know Tim George from Oregon used to anchor a rawhide foundation button, put some 2 component putty on it and than sand it to the desired shape. Pablo Lozano tought us at the Rawhiders Gathering to anchor a foundation button, sand that to the desired shape and braid the final button around that. I still use that method till this day.
@@janboogaerts1616 I got the idea from Tim George in a video. He never named the material he was using or I was just not paying attention so thank you.
@@l.d.b.r5141 I don't know exactly what that putty was, but it was a 2 component material
