@@rjm4610 The Chinese already have access to those countries as well as the USA where they own massive amounts of farmland, urban real estate and companies, all inside the USA. Some would say they already control us.
If you owe the bank 1 million, they own you, and if you owe the bank 100 million, you own them. How much do we owe china, and will they ever get that money if they come collecting.
I live in Barbados, you're not going to get much for $300,000 US. It's very expensive to live here, food is off the scale, not just restaurants but also supermarkets. Import duty makes everything expensive. But it is a wonderful island to live on, the people are very friendly, best in the Caribbean. I've lived on other islands too, but Barbados is home for me.
I also live there and for 300,000. U.S. you can get a decent ordinary well located 2.5 bed house in a respectable neighbourhood. Of course supermarkets are more challenging and property prices can go to anything but it is a great place to live....no Capital gains Tax and NO Death Duties. It is the best for long term life in the Caribbean. The currency is rubbish but U.S. is widely used and we have great AIR connections.
i've lived in St Lucia, wouldn't say the healthcare is great, and it's not that safe. But it is beautiful and cheaper than Barbados for general living costs.
@@cathymason1973 Sorry to hear that. Roatan isn’t for everyone, and visiting on a cruise doesn’t always give you the full experience of the island. What did you do during your visit?
I have been to several of the islands mentioned here and have lived in Barbados, and would concur for the most part. My only problem with the list is the Dominican Republic as #2. That is insane! This island absolutely sucks compared to the rest that I have visited!!
Well, the Dominan Republic is affordable and safer overall. Better infrastructure and economic growth compared to the others. Easy access from North America and Europe. More diverse in general, from Punta Cana to Santo Domingo to the North Coast.
When Jamaica gained independence in 1962, the murder rate was 3.9 per 100,000 inhabitants, one of the lowest in the world.[4] In 2022, Jamaica had 1,508 murders, for a murder rate of 53.34 per 100,000 people,[5] the highest murder rate in the world.[2][6]

The Caribbean side is very Caribbean.
I have been all over the Caribbean, and Costa Rica easily wins, hands down!
Safe? 😂
@@synewparadigm sure, depending upon where in the country you live.
@@seanhogan6897 No safety in Costa Rica, unless you trust the governement's statistiques.
I like the Dutch I like Dutch farmers to extremely intelligent people
Southeast Asia is the safest and most low-cost destination for retirees: Cambodia, Thailand, the Philippines.
SCAMbodia ? Seriously ? guess the human trafficking issue is not well know worldwide yet ...
Its not exactly safe with the chinese trying to claim it
Didn't know it was Caribbean

Aruba’s a dump.
I own two properties there. Best thing I ever did in life.

Interesting but often unsafe, bushy, rainy and mountainous. Ok for a visit, Rodney Bay Marina is great for Yachts.
Roatan off the coast of Honduras.
