    Hey guys, I'm not actively answering technical support type questions on this channel. If you have any technical support questions related to the lab I recommend you either rewatch the video to make sure you didn't miss anything, or go check out this video on Josh Madakor's channel where you can direct any technical support questions as it's really his lab, I just used and uploaded it for my own experience and resume which is exactly what he created it for and encourages people to do. I was responding to some technical support questions at first but my situation has changed and I can no longer do that. Thank you for understanding.

    Hi Holo1, great video!! i was able to join my client to my domain controller but it looks like my client doesn't have internet access. I made sure to configure my DC to have both adapters with the recommended settings and my client has the internal network setting. Is there anything i maybe missing or I should check? TIA!!

      Sorry but I'm not sure why that might be happening if you followed the steps, if I knew I would answer this, I recommend checking out this same video on Josh Madakor's channel as it's really his lab, I just remade it for my resume and practice (he allows it).

    How did you get the static ip address?

    • @holo1
      @holo1  Год назад

      If you got to about 5:20 in the video I believe this is what you're talking about. Make sure to select "use the following IP" granted it won't let you type it in without that selected anyways. If you're wondering where I came up with it, it's just a default known range of IPs that can be used.

  • @nate6430
    @nate6430 Год назад +1

    Quick question, why did you change your internal IP to 172.xxxx? Where did you get that IP from ?

    • @holo1
      @holo1  Год назад +2

      It's actually been awhile since I made so my memory is a bit hazy, but I'm pretty sure I was just using it so that it wasn't interfering with my actual IP. It's just a private IP range.

    Thanks for the video. Need to know the hardware requirement for active directory lab using VMware
    I have i3 based desktop pc.
    How much RAM is required ?.

    • @holo1
      @holo1  Год назад +1

      You can use the lowest RAM setting on VirtualBox when creating each VM. The only reason to add more is if you want it faster for yourself. As long as your actual PC has at least 4GB RAM you can most likely run this just fine.

    at 5:11 my second adaptor still shows a valid ip .ive done the tutorial a few times, still havent been able to get the apipa ip. i have done both vm settings as internal, andthe dc vm also has NAT as the other setting. Any ideas?

    • @holo1
      @holo1  Год назад

      Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been on here because I'm tired from my job. From your comment it sounds like you got the VirtualBox settings and the network settings correct. You might be able to change the IP to the static IP even if it's not APIPA cause mainly you just want to change it, I don't think it matters what it starts as, as long as you can identify which NIC is your DHCP. If you really want a deeper dive I recommend going to Josh Madakor's channel and looking at this lab on his channel as technically it's his lab, but he allows people to recreate it as I did.

    • @holo1
      @holo1  Год назад

      I can't say whether the effectiveness of that would be meaningful for you or not, but that's actually exactly what I did., and the whole reason I made the video in the first place. Hope you're able to find a job soon :)

    So how did it go? Did this help you get a job?

    • @holo1
      @holo1  11 месяцев назад +1

      Tbh it's hard to say if it was a huge help or not. I think overall yes because in retrospect (for IT service desk at least) AD and AzureAD is like 70% of your work, at least for my company. So personally it helped me that way to expose myself, but how much my hiring manager considered it... idk on that part. Mostly since nobody is going to really be setting up AD on service desk, and instead mostly just creating and deleting users, maybe doing some group policy, this helped me setup a lab environment to practice those things. The more someone can put on their resume the better. Hope this helps :)

      I'm sure it is haha, I mainly created this for my resume tbh. I have a job now working in an Azure environment so it makes sense for me at least. Maybe I will get to Linux one day, most likely if I switch to AWS or something.
