If you cannot send a fax - first check to see if you have a PHONE line - not a cell phone.

I asked RUclips how to scan using this printer, it directed me to your video and that was about as useful as a chocolate watch! asides from all the mumbling going on it didn't help and drove me nuts.

Hey everyone! I came here to figure out how to scan on the printer, and I just figured it out myself. Let me tell you if you are having trouble. Basically you make sure your setup CD is installed (I'm sure for most of you it was) then (if you are on a Mac) go to system preferences and go to printers and then click on the "scan" tab. From there Make sure your printer is on, connected, and attached to your computer with the cord. There is a scan button on the scanning tab. Once your thing that you want to scan is on the printer you can click "scan". This will scan the document to the folder specified on the scanning screen from which you clicked scan. Hope this helps! let me know if you have questions

Thanks BrickTsar. I know how to fix it now. It would be good for others if you could show ho to copy ,scan and fax. As you say a tutorial would help as Canon are useless, people are fed up with their lack of info!!

I'm trying to set up my fax machine but its not working im still using my old fax machine right now. The printer is given me a dial tone but nobody documents are coming thru
does anyone know why the printer says the black ink is low but I literally just filled up the cartridge today and its still telling me its low?!! very frustrating, anyone have a solution? please help thank you!!!
Kathy Serrano Did you use aftermarket refilling? I don't think the printer recognized that it got filled up if it's the same cartridge. I honestly think they intentionally make these cartridges report low levels early. Mine said it was completely out and would not print. 2 months later I tried it again and it prints fine even though it says low level.
i"d like to know if i dont have internet service out where i live in the country how can i connect the printer to a cell phone to print off something without internet or wifi ?

Where does paper go for scanning
soon we will all have a lego printer 3D Printing.. to print out our own blocks, so far, people print out about 50 lego blocks for $1600 for machine and the printer 3d color of dark grey and black, or bright lime.
I'll be printing vintage lego parts, and sell them for 50$ per brick!

Do you have a landline?
Most people don’t have landline anymore. Generally files are just emailed instead of using 40+ year old technology. I would recommend saving the scan as a file to attach to email instead of using fax feature
It doesn't scan or let you do faxing or even go into the settings if its low on ink
I'm thinking this is not such a great printer. The starter ink I have did not last very long and I have not taken the time to get more ink. I have a separate scanner so I have not tried using that feature.

mines is telling me that paper is jammed remove the paper from the rear side and press ok. with 1303 beside the message what do i do?

Hello. I have the same printer but having a problem with the wifi printing. I set up the wireless LAN on my printer but every time I hit print on a document on my laptop it says my printer is offline. Any idea how to get it printing correctly?

+JasonTheRUclipsr YeahYouKnowMe Install driver on your computer and select it as default printer. It's pretty simple to setup if you follow the directions that come with the printer

Does your laptop have a USB port? If so - connect it there

It does not. And the factory ink cartridges did not last very long. :( Got to find a cheap place to restock.
Did you use the cd it came with??
Not yet. The software automatically loaded. It sure does run out of ink fast with the starter cartridges too
BrickTsar Toys The starter cartridges had little ink in them and new ink costs about as much as a brand new printer. Do they have a better page count?

I need to know one thing first - are you trying to fax with a internet connect or a dial up (regular dial tone land line phone)?

You will need to get a phone line to send a fax. It is a dial up fax.

Does anyone know how to scan to an iPad?
Hi Linda , I don't have the iPad but use iPhone - you need to download the app from canon and connect/setup printer to your iPad
and from there you can scan to your iPad :-)

I hate printers! my parents and brother always have to sit right next to it and that's really annoying! also you have to buy ink that's like I don't know how much money for really crappy looking pictures!

Anne - most people that don’t know how to use it as a fax don’t have a land line phone line. I could go tutorialbut this was not a tutorial. The waste of time was in the manufacturers part of making instructions thatpeople don’t follow.
