Because DV mode is overriding the Peak 1000 mode's EOTF tracking and ABL behavior when it's enabled, and SDR content is noticeably dimmer in Peak 1000 mode. HDR content will not be dimmer, though, and Peak 1000 is capable of achieving brighter highlights than the DV modes when viewing HDR10 content.

LMAO! If you mean for monitors, that's way too much to pay for any monitor. If you don't mean monitors, but are referring to full systems, then you should specify that. That you don't likely means that you don't know enough to make an informed decision and would benefit from finding out more about such things.
its highly subjective anyway, you might for example prefer tb400 because of less aggresive abl. also this monitor is pretty much perfect out of the box, no needs to adjust anything. only real choice you have to make is clamping down color gamut to sdr for regular content, or leaving it in native color gamut for more intense color reproduction.
Depends on the input and content. Many Pc games will trigger that separately on their own when needed. Otherwise you might need to enable it via windows HDR setting each time. Use can use the keyboard shortcut win + alt + B for quicker access though
@@tftcentralOne more question if you have the time. Dolby Vision produces a FAR brighter image on my screen. is this the same for you? is there a way to brighten hdr10 without having dolby on?
@lkn3526 yes it does because it massively impacts the PQ tracking of HDR10 content and makes it brighter. It’s far less accurate and not really recommended unless you specifically want it brighter and don’t mind it’s further from content intention

Tyson Fury knows tech?
For gaming those settings would be awful and extremely dark. While I use the Creator setting I push both brightness / contrast to 100% and then I go to Nvidia's Control Panel / Adjust Desktop Color Settings .. and "go to town" brightening-up everything needed to make the enemy players stand out: more brightness / contrast, Digital vibrance and if needed small adjustments to Gamma, and IF for some reason I Enable HDR then I push the settings even higher.
So now your games look like candy land. Whatever floats your boat I guess.
@@Jeroenneman.. LMAO nothing of the sort. The problem is Call of Duty has a lot of dark characters along with dark areas on the map, essentially making the enemies invisible if I followed the normal routine eg this video .. which is precisely why I posted my reply. I
Should I buy a Dell for $1158 out the door or the MSI for $1012 out the door!!! PLEASE COMMENT PEEP! I want to know what people think
LMAO! If you mean for monitors, that's way too much to pay for any monitor. If you don't mean monitors, but are referring to full systems, then you should specify that. That you don't likely means that you don't know enough to make an informed decision and would benefit from finding out more about such things.
@@ObakuZenCenter I got the AW3225QF ~ Its amazing
Me too! I love it
So the best setting for hdr are enabling HDR Peak 1000 and call it a day ? Is this a joke or what ?
its highly subjective anyway, you might for example prefer tb400 because of less aggresive abl. also this monitor is pretty much perfect out of the box, no needs to adjust anything. only real choice you have to make is clamping down color gamut to sdr for regular content, or leaving it in native color gamut for more intense color reproduction.
What else would you like to change exactly? There aren’t any other settings available within HDR mode really
Perfect best settings video as always. Your work is highly appreciated. Very happy to be a Patreon!@@tftcentral
@shenalon thanks for supporting us!
When HDR is active you literally can’t change any settings on the monitor so idk what you’d expect lol
ONE question: What is the best way of going from SDR to HDR on this monitor?
Depends on the input and content. Many Pc games will trigger that separately on their own when needed. Otherwise you might need to enable it via windows HDR setting each time. Use can use the keyboard shortcut win + alt + B for quicker access though
@@tftcentralOne more question if you have the time. Dolby Vision produces a FAR brighter image on my screen. is this the same for you? is there a way to brighten hdr10 without having dolby on?
@lkn3526 yes it does because it massively impacts the PQ tracking of HDR10 content and makes it brighter. It’s far less accurate and not really recommended unless you specifically want it brighter and don’t mind it’s further from content intention
what gamma is best with hdr
You can’t change the gamma setting in HDR mode. It will default to the PQ EOTF for HDR as intended
