I've been doing color grading and color calibrations for more than a decade. A typical consumer should NEVER use a clamped sRGB colorspace. Reference color spaces are for production pipelines. The standard is ancient at this point. If you want your beautiful OLED to look horrid, by all means, but do not recommend creator modes to anyone that isn't an actual creator sharing color sensitive production across multiple devices. Standard is much more attractive with a standard 2.2 gamma for consumer use.
@Wesleyy-87 if you're on Win11, WinUpdate likes to push Dell drivers and force color profiles. - go into color management and make sure a color profile isn't being applied. If one is, add the sRGB (IEC 61966-2-1) and set it to default. This will bypass Dells profile and WinUpdates. - if you arent using HDR set the HDR setting to Off on the monitor OSD. HDR on, even when not in use will also clamp the colorspace in SDR mode, particularly on AMD GPUs - Standard mode preset is perfectly fine. - Never change the contrast setting - For brightness, adjust to preference Again, using rec.709 creator modes is great for production, terrible for consumption.

Because DV mode is overriding the Peak 1000 mode's EOTF tracking and ABL behavior when it's enabled, and SDR content is noticeably dimmer in Peak 1000 mode. Might be a dummy question, but for sdr mode i turn HDR "off" in the alienware monitor settings and in Windows 11, right? And if i want to use HDR mode, i turn this "on" in alienware monitor settings and in windows 11 i enable the HDR mode or not? I'm a bit confused right now about HDR mode. Thanks in advance.
You don’t need to change anything on the monitor, that will auto switch between SDR and HDR mode depending on the input signal it detects. So you only need to enable and disable it in windows when you want to view actual HDR content. For some games, that can also trigger HDR mode automatically without you needing to activate it in windows too
For my LG C1 48 I went into the override menu and set the HDMI signal override to BT 2020, it looked infinitely better to me, I prefer saturation and vivid colour over "accuracy". Up to you, but those calibrations only apply in certain preset modes (the Creator modes) and you may still want to try some of the other settings included in this video

Hey. Question. I noticed when turning on my HDR that some of the blacks become a little like dark grey which is annoying since i feel like blacks are “blacker” when using SDR. Any idea how I can fix this? Or is this how HDR is supposed to work
No that’s not how it’s supposed to be. But when you are observing blacks in HDR mode do you mean for SDR content like desktop patterns etc, or actual HDR content?
@Darebi ok that could just be the way HDR mode is handling SDR. Fairly common. See what blacks look like in actual HDR content, but i expect they’ll be fine. Best to only enable HDR mode when you are viewing actual HDR content
Hey @tftcentral WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO MAKE A "BEST SETTINGS" video about the ASUS PG32UCDM, AND WHEN ARE WE GOING TO GET A "ADVANCED ICC" COLOR PROFILE FOR HDR FOR THE PG32UCDM? THE ONLY ICC PROFILE FOR PATREONS RIGHT NOW IS THE "SDR" ICC PROFILE.
Probably as soon as you stop messaging in ALL CAPS 😀 we hope to have a best settings for that screen at some point soon but creating profiles for HDR mode isn’t possible I’m afraid, and you wouldn’t really need them in the same way you would for SDR
Each mode is independent so whatever you select in SDR mode won’t impact how the screen behaves in HDR mode. But it will remember what you had it set as when you move back to SDR again

For some games, that can also trigger HDR mode automatically without you needing to activate it in windows too
Do we need to use the windows 11 hdr calibration app?
Yes worth running through as well
For my LG C1 48 I went into the override menu and set the HDMI signal override to BT 2020, it looked infinitely better to me, I prefer saturation and vivid colour over "accuracy". What would be the equivalent of this for this monitor or any monitor in general? I'm really clueless when it comes to these colour specifications.
Your best bet would be to run them in the mode that operates with the screens full native colour space, as opposed to any emulation or clamping mode
Does it have internal speakers? How are you supposed to get sound from it? Connect it to a sound bar?
No internal speakers but it has eARC sound pass through to a Soundbar. Or you can use the headphone connection
@@tftcentral it has a headphone jack?
@octoman511 ah sorry no this one doesn’t. Which is rare!
How to connect speaker to this monitor, there is no aux or 3.5port
It can handle HDMI eARC if your speaker system has that? Or it’s also got a headphone jack output
Have you dealt with white spots on the screen? Or know how to clean it without messing it up?
not something we've experienced
@@tftcentral this might be a dumb question I got the one with spots exchanged. And I got a new one should I wipe up or anything like that when I take off that sticky screen stuff it comes with?
@oscarleiva470 doubt it needs it
Could you please do the PG32UCDM 🙏
Just grabbed this can’t wait to use these settings! Question though …. What is the best way to connect my new m4 MacBook Pro 1 cable connected? Thanks
Usbc to dp
If displayport is used for pc, then u can try usbc to hdmi 2.1 too. M4 macbook pro support 8k 60 or 4k 240 on the hdmi port too, so u can even connect to monitor using hdmi 2.1 cable directly
Do I use the same settings for the Alienware AW2725DF or would you have a different guide for FPS titles (COD)?
Are these settings help improving the screen quality in general? I am asking this because every monitor is different, or not?
Yes they should
Returned this display since I couldn’t use DLDSR. It is a relevant feature even with the higher PPI.
My AW3423DW with DSC on works with DLDSR so it doesn’t make sense this display can’t use it.
It’s to do with this tftcentral.co.uk/news/nvidia-dsr-and-dldsr-do-work-with-dsc-monitors-sometimes
Why would you need dsr on a 4K panel? Rendering at 8k and downscaling will destroy your fps for almost no visual benefits. And dldsr is worse aswell when you could natively have 4K.
My monitor came with a Calibration Factory Report Sheet. Does it mean I don't need to calibrate it?
Up to you, but those calibrations only apply in certain preset modes (the Creator modes) and you may still want to try some of the other settings included in this video
Would you recommend setting to 12 or 10 bit in the colour preferences in nvidia control panel, or are there certain use cases to pick one over the other?
I don’t think you’d ever see any visual difference. The panel is 10-bit only so I’d probably choose that
@@tftcentral thanks for your help, I was only wondering because I know Dolby vision has 12bit support so I wasn't sure if it would be affected or not!
Will these settings work for my ultra wide dwf?
No I’m afraid not.
Thanks for the great content, I have a question about how I should set my NV control panel setting, for example, colour,12bpc or 10 or 8?
10-bit would match the panel capabilities but also no harm in setting 12-bit
I had this monitor 2 months ago and it was incredibly dim in HDR 1000. Any suggestions to what I may have done wrong?
This explains the situation with many of the new QD OLED monitors
tftcentral.co.uk/articles/testing-hdr400-true-black-and-peak-1000-mode-brightness-on-new-oled-monitors
Love mine! However, call of duty looks less vibrant colors wise compared to my QLED Samsung tv from 2018. My system is an Xbox series x. I have brightness at 100%. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated!! Thank you! I’m assuming that I will be in HDR the entire time on Xbox - with settings at 4k & 120hz..
.The HDR modes, including the peak 1000 mode are all darker than they should be really and so that’s likely what you’re seeing I expect. There’s no easy way to fix that for an Xbox but you could maybe try the true black 400 mode instead of peak 1000 as it can look slightly brighter in some situations
Some background here tftcentral.co.uk/articles/testing-hdr400-true-black-and-peak-1000-mode-brightness-on-new-oled-monitors
Just got My dell monitor is stuck on language selection and can't choose or click anything , how to fix?
Unplug the power and try again?
@@tftcentral worked, thanks so much
Does the Preset Mode in the OSD affect the picture in HDR mode or it only changes how SDR content will be displayed?
No it doesn’t impact HDR mode
Weirdly enough, on my AW3225QF (arrived yesterday!) I can't turn of Dolby Vision. 🤔😔
-> connected via DisplayPort
You’d need to update to the latest firmware from their site. It was added recently as an option
@@tftcentralThank you! 😍
Just got mine today thanks a bunch for this
does this apply to AW2725DF ?
No. But we have recommended settings and a calibrated profile for that one in the database on our main site
Hey.
@@tftcentral SDR desktop content
Turn off your caps lock.
What about MacOS? Thanks!
Should be same settings for the monitor really but it’s not something we’ve tested I’m afraid
Does the monitor save the settings between sdr and hdr settings in the osd? Every time I turn HDR off or on in windows the settings stay the same.
Each mode is independent so whatever you select in SDR mode won’t impact how the screen behaves in HDR mode. But it will remember what you had it set as when you move back to SDR again
@@tftcentral interesting. When I’m in HDR mode and try to change settings the screen shows a message saying it’s processing hdr content. It doesn’t even allow me to change settings in HDR
@titanplaya29 no there’s not much you can change in there anyway only the HDR mode
Thanks for the vid. I was pretty much there but this helped. For consoles p5s , would you use the console mode with source tone mapping on ?
Yes that’s probably a good bet
What are your settings for ps5
Same as these
Hi! Setting the Gamma to 2.2 on sRGB seems to have an issue on my end. It has weird artifacts/pixelated on dark videos etc.
edit: Setting the Gamma to 2.4 removes the artifacts/pixelated stuff. Does that work? or its not accurate anymore?
my monitor firmware is M2B105
Why does the picture content look a lot more crisp and vibrant on my ps5 than my alien ware x17 lap top?
Do you mean this monitor looks more crisp and vibrant than your laptop?
Running my x17 through the monitor , the image quality looks dull and blurry compared to running it through the ps5.
@tcweem4a have you got HDR enabled on your laptop in windows display settings?
what is the very latest firmware for this please ? i am seeing m2b105 ?
That’s the one. Always up to date on their website
@@tftcentral thank you reply, i am also having faded colors on my new monitor just doesn't seem very bright or colorful any advice please
@Pensioner1203 are you running with HDR enabled all the time in windows?
how to enable g-sync?
u can do that in nvidia control panel
Anyone know to turn off hdr to actually change the settings?
Disable it in windows display settings. You should only enable that when you’re going to view actual HDR content
watching this on my new aw3225qf ;) thank u !
Iv been using the True Black 400 mode. Plenty bright enough for me as I only have time to game at night
