  • Fatigue is one of the most common symptoms of multiple sclerosis.
It's described as a feeling of exhaustion that's out of all proportion to any activity you may have been doing. It can be very difficult to describe fatigue to others who don't have MS.
For this video some people with MS sent us some descriptions on how they describe fatigue to others.
For more information about fatigue and some ideas on how to manage it, visit our website mstrust.org.uk/a-z/fatigue
we also recently hosed a webinar on how to manage fatigue • Managing MS fatigue

When I try to explain to people about fatigue the response I usually get is "I feel like that as well" this video explains it a lot more in detail. I showed it to my manager and he immediately asked is there anything he could do.

The people know nothing of this 'fatigue'
I will do a little of walking n rest abit ....as long as i m active the whole day....the tiredness is too persistent n u have to take care or u can lose balance
I have ms n people will mock u n gossip about u but will not help u
There r few good people out there
Many r fake n will make fun of u once they know ur condition

I looked up ms fatigue because I was trying to explain to my family what happened to me over the weekend. My body just shut down. I couldn't move. All I did was clean my house, showered and got dress. Then I conked out. I layed in one place for 3 hours unable to move.

Everything I do feels like the hardest thing I've ever had to do. People think I'm exaggerating or am just lazy.. it's completely demoralizing and emasculating. I don't know if I can continue to live like this.. 😒

I’ve pretty much stopped trying to explain to others how I’m feeling, as, inevitably, they say they have the same issues. It’s a contest I no longer want to participate in.

That's so true. It can be really frustrating to share how you feel with others, especially if they don't have the same first hand experience as you. 💙

I do get cross eyed. I have a lazy eye which I can focus when I'm not tired. But when I'm tired I am unable to focus it with the other eye. 😢

    every "body" is different .
i start a task with productive intentions .
quickly all "fuel" is spent .
exhaustion starts a domino effect on all symptoms .
    physical and especially mental .
it's difficult to explain it in words
or even to understand it myself
but when one foot literally refuses to go in front of the other regardless of your minds intentions .
it is strange frustrating and ... disheartening ?

It’s not a normal tired!!! It’s like a bad dream that you hope to wake up from but it never goes away even after a full nights sleep! You feel worse trying to get up and start your day than you did when you went to bed!😢 prayers for all of you suffering from this disorder! Keep going and walking whether you want to
Or not! It helps sometimes knowing that you accomplished something!! Dear Jesus please help them all that are suffering from this debilitating disease!! It’s not what you want for them and I ask you in Jesus’s precious name I pray, AMEN🙏❤️✝️

Yes I’d describe it similarly like walking through sand but the sand is up to my hips and I’m trying to push through it, sometimes I have to physically pick up my legs with my arms to move them forward. I know some exercises will help but when I’m so tired I can’t bring myself to do them it’s a vicious circle. I get angry with myself as I can’t do things I want to do
