Thanks so much Kim I really enjoyed watching your videos and put them to practice and make note for it as well...i just started my clothing business last week in my sitting room and I know I will get to that of my goals. Watching your videos always inspired me to keep going that I will get there... I didn't go to fashion school but I learnt it from talented people and am also open for leaning I always learn and read books on pattern making garments making etc I know there are not enough.... But I will not relent in learning. Just moved to Ghana last 2 years so changing of country cause alot of set back on my fashion line. I have not yet having customers but I know they will locate me soon.... I just do ready to wear for now.... Thanks so much

Phew! I'm still learning about the fashion business. I took a project management class one time and I developed a business case for my business.
I still struggle with writing a business plan and I'm having issues with procrastination.

I didn't go to fashion school to do fashion. I started with help of tutorials from people like you,,, it has been an year since I started the business hopefully next year I will do branding. Professional am a teacher but I don't feel like it anymore.
Doing clean, well finished work has made me grow so well.
Personally I do 80% deposit for any garmet want. Again I like advising on design depending on body type/shape because many come with no idea of what they really want.
Challenges are there especially when I got,, that stubborn client. I take everyday as a new day of learning,,, no one is perfect,, we all try. Above all fight to be unique 😘😂

As for branding, I think it'll happen naturally. You already mentioned you do clean and well finished garments, that's already one quality that will pull in more customers for you. Well done dear, keep going and don't stop 💪

Thank you so much for a great video you never fail to give great advice. I quit my job a year ago and been self learning pattern making and sewing and im progressing I am also studying Applied Business online at University of Alaska which is great because Im applying the education in my business planning. And soon will have my business and marketing plans in place to kick start my business. Meanwhile as you said it’s a life-long learning journey and with people like yourself make this journey a little bit easier and more fun.
That’s so amazing 👏👏 Good thing you’re also studying the business side of things, that’s the part most creatives struggle with.

You’re are a star. I‘m only just starting and it looks promising thus far. The only challenge I am having now is, I live in Germany and the language barrier is sort of an issue. How would you advice someone in this state to break barriers. How would you advise I break past the language and get people talking or rocking my brand?? Thank you for sharing. I am New in this industry and have been teaching / learning by myself online. I really need a mentor. I paid someone to learn but she just disappointed me by not showing up at her shop to teach me. I was her only student funny enough. So I just kept moving one by myself through tutorials online. Passion and crave for excellence has kept me going. What is your advise for me to be better on the go?

Thanks for all those hints, I'm thinking about opening my own fabric store and haven't a clue on how do I start. Can you help me to source some of the most exclusive stores that I can shop on line for high quality African fabrics like the lace ones and printed waxed cottons.
I haven't started yet, I want to take my time to get really better and possibly get an internship opportunity here in Nigeria but that has been quite difficult as I am a self-made designer (I haven't attended any fashion school) and what most fashion designers do here are "aso-ebi" designs. Great video,very inspiring,I recently made the decision to develope my skills in sewing and designing,even though I work during the day,i made a decision to take courses in sewing,pattern drafting,fashion&design and fashion drawing,after which i hope to do some internships ,while sewing from home to make some little cash.God willing in 5yrs I hope to develope a and execute a business plan which will involve creating clothes for party and coperate events

I am thinking about going to study fashion design and am also interested in textile, this year have been buying book on fashion design ,sewing and the things I would like to know and learn for myself( couture sewing techniques by Claire B. Schaeffer is the newest one have got , you should check it,I have also got the Thames&Hudson books on fashion design drawing ,fashion design and fashion illustration and also fashion with fabric ....)
Have look into school and will definitely be doing an online course, I agree with you that you have to up your game if you want to make and be successful ,knowledge is key .
In 5 years I would love to own a business ,having my own clothing line and really get the skills to be the best I can.
