i dont mean to be so offtopic but does someone know a tool to get back into an instagram account..? I was dumb lost the password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me
Man, you seem to have the same musical taste as me, but 1 million times the chops!. It's so awesome to see a young, enthusiastic, monster talent play the guitar this way. I hear all my heroes in your playing: Cropper, Nolen, Teenie Hodges, Nile Rodgers, Leo Nocelli, etc. But you are just as great with the sounds of Scotty Moore, Dick Dale, Link Wray, Glen Campbell, Barney Kessel, etc. etc. You are quickly becoming one of my favorite contemporary guitarists along with Junior Brown and Rick Miller (Southern Culture on the Skids). Your mad skillz and infectious enthusiasm makes me feel like I'm 22 again and I can't wait to tune up and jam. Keep it up!
SOOOO SWEET. I completely agree with you in terms of the importance of rhythm in guitar playing. (with both hands!!!!) Thanks for an amazing, uplifting, entertaining video.
Just like how a great drummer makes the whole band sound fantastic, most guitar players forget to employ that rhythmic element, I loved this, subscribed.
Hi Jay. Thanks for always inspiring. I would love to see a funk master class from you. I’m sure we all would. You could break it up into 6-8 classes or so, while showcasing a piece of gear as well. Include push button, technics, chord structures, your personal breakthrough moments, stringing it all together. And a zillion other things your creative brain comes up with. It just seems you really shine in this area and Every time you do this type of music it gets us moving and I want to do what you do. Just a though...
That's the first thing my first guitar teacher taught me ! But after 10 years of practicing, I never stopped using it. That's pure magic. Thanks for sharing !
Great lesson bro, for me the best thing is that you show us the technique's application in famous song's which lets us see how it can be applied into our own songs and which artists we should look at to get the technique down. Can't wait for next one dude, you are a king amongst men!
Just discovered you and THANK YOU! I just lost a gig due to a lack of funk chops, so discovering you are out there has been a blessing. Back to the woodshed!
Mesa Mark I reissue, will cover everything Fendery, From funk to rock, and get it in a head version, with the 112 cab loaded with an EVM 12L for maximum headroom. I run in channel 2 controls Vol1 on 2, Vol2 on 2, master on 2, treble 7, bass 0, mid 10, 100 watt mode full power. This amp is very versatile and can be very loud, but controllable, Master above 2 is earbleed loud!
Great vid JLJ. Right hand is too often the forgotten hand in playing guitar. If you havnt already....check out what Redplate have to offer. They have a large range of BlkF, BrnF and Tweed all in one amp. Quality components and build quality. Cheers again for the right hand reminder.
If you want a killer Princeton reverb amp you can't go wrong with a milkman amps creamer. I think he will make you whatever wattage you want between 15-22watts, and everything is handmade in San Francisco, CA! If I had the cash, that would be my forever amp. Good luck with the search!
I've been following your channel for a little while now, in love with your playing and your passion. I could easily apply your technique into my playing. I totally agree with you about the importance of mute in the rhythm guitar playing.
Oh my freaking goodness! Thank you so much Jay for de-mysterfying this part of playing. I was at a stale spot in my playing, but this is now my next couple of months. Love your work!
I enjoy watching you play and it makes me want to pick up my guitar immediately then set it back down lol, top 10 guitarist easy. you deserve more subscribers.
Wow just found this old nugget. Great stuff I like how you drop real info on us whether it's this or how you use gear. It is actually very insightful and you wrap it in a light-hearted package. You are a good dude and I found out your a golfer too you must like to suffer.
good golleee. I'm on a Jay L kick lately. I love your playing. Plenty of funk and groove in your hands. Keep it up and I want to add that the videos are so professional and well produced. Great tones and I love your compressor sounds.
I just discovered you like 30 minutes ago and I'm crazy impressed with your playing, channel, and professional setup. But most of all you seem like you're having tons of fun and that's great man. Sweet Channel! You earned a quick new sub today
+RegekuAngel That's awesome: welcome to the community! I try to add something for everyone each week. Hopefully you'll enjoy all the cool things upcoming :)
Jay Leonard J aka: Funkologist, yes!!Curious to hear you try a Roland Jazz Chorus Amp for new amp or Fender Hot Rod Deluxe with Yellow Jacket Tube Convertors, changing out the 6L6 tubes to EL84's tubes.
by the way, swarts space tone is a small 5 watt tube amp does both clean and crunch well, it has very simple controls and vintage tone. if you are looking for edge breakup tone, the new fender bassbreaker or vox ac10 are pretty good sounding amps to check out. if you want to go for reliable you should check out quilter amps. they are soild state amp with tube warmth, great sound quality, and versatile tones.
+JayLeonardJ , yeah man, someone own a quilter micropro claimed he could tweak any amp tone out of that amp. sounds too good to be true on a soild state amp, but something about that amp just magical. I personally own 2 quilter amp, micropro and tone block. there are many reviews on youtube about these amps. if you are a fender fan, then you should totally check them out.

+JoeGtars13 Great Choice!!!!!!! I recommend investing in a Mastery Bridge and a Vibramate "String Spoiler". IMHO, those are the most essential elements to Bigsby bliss (Especially the Mastery).
+joe kruger Ahhh... your comment led me to their site and I haven't been able to do anything but look at that amp for the last few hours... Officially in the top 3.
+JayLeonardJ I had one for 6 months...best American/mod Princeton that I've ever played! Bought it as a toy since that music I play needs a Vox?Marshall tone. I own a 3rd Power British Dream MK II, which is a keeper!
+Amanda Nossen Hi! I do have a series where I talk about my gear called "Jay's Toolbox" and I also have a "FAQs" playlist as well... however, they are still new so there is much more content to come :) To answer your questions, I've been playing since high school and I graduated from the Berklee College of Music. I think I may have an interview with the Tone Mob coming up soon, so I'll let you know when that drops :)
I am still figuring out how I discovered your channel just 2 years ago. You are definitely one of the best rhythm guitarplayers I know.
You need to release a complete funk rhythm course. I will be the first one to preorder it.
I can't decide whether I like your content or your enthusiasm more. great stuff.
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does someone know a tool to get back into an instagram account..?

Great rhythm playing. Not enough cool rhythm videos out there. Please do more instructional videos like this one.
You got it!
That's really cool. When I first started playing in bands I started doing something pretty similar. I always called it "playing the drums" on guitar.

Rhythm is my first priority in music. Its so true that it often gets over looked. There is a life time worth of work learning groove

Still, even untill today, ... it's a Telecaster Wizzard. Deffinitly a/the guitar hero of mine 🎶👌💖
I really appreciate it :)
Jay you are super awesome..Love your energy bro
I don't know if I've ever heard "I Want You Back" played so fast. Likely never will again. Imagine Michael's voice sped and shifted up that amount.
Thanks for the great tips Jay. I finally cracked and ordered a Bigsby adorned Telecaster.
+JoeGtars13 Great Choice!!!!!!! I recommend investing in a Mastery Bridge and a Vibramate "String Spoiler". IMHO, those are the most essential elements to Bigsby bliss (Especially the Mastery).
Wow u replied. Hey love the vids. U got talent. Lol about the coffee
Oh ps I play an old (1982) fender champ II it's like a slightly louder Princeton with less bells and whistles. Magic if you can find one.
Super cool: I have an old 1964 Vibro Champ. Completely different amp than yours, but I'm just happy to be part of the club :)
You make it look easier than it is. Great Playing Dude!
+robert scott Purse Been a long time: great to hear from you! How is your version of "Cold Shot" cooking??
Not as good as your version :-)
Tyler and milkman are my two ideas for a new amp! Happy hunting!
+Brandon Billings Both killer choices :) Milkman seems to be taking over the comment section.
‘Funk’ing amazing :)
Tight! Tight! Tight! Would love to see you do a full cover of that SRV tune 5:33
hmm.... great idea!
Hey Jay, nice vide. Try out a Fender Blues Deluxe or Blues Junior. The BD has some killer tones and is fairly light but easily big enough for gigs.
The new Fender Bassbreaker amps are looking like a good choice at the moment...
+Lufie Alice They definitely look super cool! on the list :)
Just awesome. Great lesson 😃
Thanks!
Great video! You may want to check out a 3rd Power Extra Spanky...right up your alley!
+joe kruger Ahhh... your comment led me to their site and I haven't been able to do anything but look at that amp for the last few hours... Officially in the top 3.

Could you make a Q&A video sometime, and show us your gear?
How long have you been playing and have you attended any music schools?
+Amanda Nossen Hi!
