    The moral of this story is don't build you're house on a pile of sand, next to the ocean, in a state prone to severe weather. This is why insurance rates go up every year. I have no sympathy for these people.

    • @sharkfinsurfchannel
      @sharkfinsurfchannel Год назад +14

      When most of these houses were built in the 70s,80s there was around 50 yards of sand dunes and another 100 yards before the ocean. In the last 10 years, most of that has been wiped away. The rate of acceleration has gone up exponentially.

Any day any one of you all can find yourself in the same situation whether it be a hurricane, tornado, floods, hillside collapse, wildfires, earthquakes and any other calamity the earth has to offer. By your thinking no one could live anywhere on planet earth. Plus your wrong about agencies going broke considering they are paid for by us the taxpayers of EVERY state not just where you live. So no matter where you live you could one day find yourself with nothing because mother nature said so and you will need those same agencies you feel some people should not be allowed to have even though WE ALL pay taxes to make them run. It sure is awful to witness what these people have to go through. To see their dreams shattered. Unfortunately the reality is many of these homes should not be allowed to be built so close to the ocean. They should in fact be barrier islands with planted vegetation and plenty of public beach. Otherwise it affects the insurance and price of homes repeatedly. I know it may sound crazy but the government better start concentrating on adding beach sand by dredging out in the ocean and bringing the sand to shore around the entire Coastal shorelines of the nation. Otherwise in another 10 years or so there will be no shorelines as we know them today. They will eventually all have crumbled and been eroded. Just in my lifetime alone I have witnessed the ocean Shoreline majorly shrink. And come further further inland.

    I always see a lot of horrible comments. You can shake your fist at the local govs who have allowed all this construction right on the beach or development managers for non single family homes for building there. What is awful is blaming people for living in places. Most of these single family homes right on the ocean are not new construction and if they are the plot was previously built on. Insurance doesnt typically cover the cost of buying new land and building a house and a mortgage company isnt going to just allow you to take the money and run. I know beach side living is associated with wealth but not always. There are hundreds of thousands of people who live near major volcanoes that will one day explode and literally wipe out everything. Everyone lives somewhere where disasters strike and very very few people honestly didnt contribute to climate change. There are few people who will vote to pay higher taxes or are willing to lose their jobs in order for companies who cause emissions to be truly taken out. Whos out there is volunteering to tear down their own home to replant trees and grassland or even stop driving a car lol

      They are a LOT closer to the water than they were yesterday!
      And probably, over the years, have become increasingly closer than when the subdivision was originally approved.

      Actually, like other coastal towns, the waterline used to be quite a way further out. Erosion has taken a toll.

      I am a Floridian and just recently had the eye of hurricane Ian pass over my house. Erosion is nothing new and happens with unnamed storms. Florida isn't going anywhere.

      @@stuartkeel5552 Native Floridian here too and the erosion to Florida is fact. We've lost many miles of land.

    Why don't one of you "cinematographers" go turn off the water main to that house, so that those broken water pipes aren't pouring precious fresh water into the ocean? 🤷‍♂️

    I work out this way all the time - very sad to see things happen
    BUT - BUT - BUT
    WHO allowed the building of these properties so many years ago? (not just here)
    This isn't rocket science people.
    Don't even say global warming - that's just Greek for ""stupid"
    Just from living in Florida for 40+ years IMO, no one should build withing a quarter to half a mile of the existing coast line.

    No pity. Absolutely no pity for anybody. This is the price you pay when you prioritize luxury over Safety and Security. Every one of you had access to the internet. every one of you had the ability to educate yourself about the potential risks of purchasing property and building in Florida. Every one of you chose to ignore the risks all to live on a luxurious Beach and own waterfront property. How's that Financial investment working out for you now? Still worth the risk, the cost, and the loss?

    Loving the view ! That's what happens when you have to live right next to the beach , and all others have to pay lots of money just to get to the beach and park there . I have no bad feelings for thouse with extra privileges, if you are not smart enough to live in a safe area , than you deserve it . 😉
