Thank you , Thank you , Thank you , you have no idea how long I have been searching for something like this. I wanted to to have another side profile for my honeycomb bravo but it just wasn't feasible with getting in and out. This is exactly what im looking for
Great idea. I have now installed in my rig. If you are in the UK you can get the profile cut and drilled at KJN Aluminium Profile (use the IR profile 8m). They also will drill the holes that allow for using their internal connectors.
Thank you buddy, appreciate it! I did consider magnets but the latch I think is a nicer alternative. Something quite satisfying using a latch to open the door 😅
Hey this is great! With this I might be able to mount my HOTAS again. I just get tired of it getting in the way when I want to race and taking it on and off is a pain!
Thanks for the kind words. This is the exact reason I did this! Running my HOTAS currently and it is bliss not having to mess around with re-mounting. Let us know how you get on and good luck 💪🏻

awesome idea! Anyone knows best place to get the extruded aluminum bits in the US? I have an ASR4 but ordering a la carte from them is kind of expensive and NOT free shipping like you get when you order a full rig. Wish I had known about this when I did!
Thank you very much mate! I am afraid I would not know where the best place in the States would be. If you do find out, if you could comment back that would help others who find the video. The ASR4 looks like a solid bit of kit💪🏻
@@TraumaTeamRacing it's awesome, no doubt! I'm just going to order from them a monitor mount, which is free shipping and just piggy back on the free shipping for the stuff for the arm! Can't see any other viable option and I've been meaning to get the integrated monitor mount anyway . I already ordered the latch from aliexpress and it's awesome! I already had a pivoting left arm for my rig but yours is a lot sturdier.
Glad it has all worked out for you mate. I would highly suggest a stand alone mount if you have the room for it. That would be my suggestion 👍🏻 Hope the build all goes well for you.
@@TraumaTeamRacingi'm on PS5 only so I can only mount one monitor (and no motion). I think I'm gonna go with the ASR integrated mount for a 32" monitor (curved or not, trying to decide) .
I would still get a stand alone mount personally. Gives you the option to pull the rig out without upsetting the monitor and you can play with your monitor distance easier. Just my 2 cents.
Amazing video. Thanks so much one question how would one achieve this with the new P1 X Pro rigs as Thier wheel deck pillars are slanted. I have 2 questions. 1 would I need to get a longer lower piece to accommodate for the length lost as the pillars are slanted. And 2 who will I be able to attach 4 angle pivots to the wheel pillar as it's slanted.
That was one of my issues with the new design from Sim-Lab. It does not allow you to easily modify the rig due to this aesthetic choice. If you wish to do this my advice would be to go for a classic P1X or a rig that shares the same design. Hope that helps 👍🏻
@TraumaTeamRacing dam I already have the new P1X Pro 🤣😂 what if I retained the top to be 580mm40x80 and the bottom 600mm40x80 so the length accommodates for the slant. And I just use 2 pivot joints. I have 2 angled adapters for the pivot joints that will allow for the pivot joints to be a straight fit so it won't sit slanted when bottled on the bent pillar.
You could just sub out the slant profiles for upright profiles and this would solve all your issues? You can buy them separately through Sim-Lab I believe 🤔
Just seen this, ordered my Prime last night due to be delivered this Thurs (still not decided for certain where its going yet and will have to rip out half the contents of my room arghhh). Where did you get the extra black profile pieces from as they seem to be more difficult to find (the only one I found so far seem to be in fixed increments of sizes). Similarly I plan to mostly use for flight/hotas use sos suspect once I've added a 2nd side getting in and out wil become a bit of a chore
Congratulations on your new purchase! I hope you are both very happy together! Sim racing will find a way buddy. You'd be amazed what you will throw out when rig placement is at stake 😂 This will work well for your HOTAS. I got the extra profile from here: www.raceanywhere.co.uk/collections/loose-parts Hope that helps 👍🏻
@@TraumaTeamRacing that's great thank you. Thanks for the video, this idea is awesome! Do you think it's sturdy enough to have a Shifter/Handbrake combo attached to it? Id love to have this on my gtomega prime but I'm afraid it would brake the latch or a hinge.
Thanks for the feedback MrStyx44! Really appreciate it. If you do exactly what I've done it should be sturdy enough I think. Although I would opt to put it on the non-shifting side if possible. The door with the latch does not budge, but will take a bit of tuning once it's built up. Hope that helps 👍🏻
Cool idea and nice execution! One question though: how hard is that latch to reach once youre in the cockpit? After all you do need to reach it to open the door everytime you want to get out :)
Thanks for the comment and feedback Roger! You just drop your hand to the side and unlatch it. Pretty easy. The door doesn't have to be as long as mine so you could modify it if you like to make it smaller. It's definitely easier than climbing over though 😅
I'm planning to do something like this for my GT1-EVO, so I can add my flight setup ( Virpil ) which is currently collecting dust. I was curious what Aluminum Extrusions you used since its also for a Simlab Rig, is it ordered from Simlab? Amazing Idea btw, love the hatch!

What do you do if your simrig has the boxed sections inside the base? I mean instead of having where your wheel mount is on the left and right of the left floor uprights but is instead connected directly to the top of those uprights instead of to next to it?
@TraumaTeamRacing look up the Rig Metal Basic then compare how they mount the wheel base as it's on the inside of the frame unlike the P1X. I'm trying to do the same as you but I'm having a hard time envisioning how it would work.
@@TraumaTeamRacing next stupid question… 😅 I’ve built my door and it’s amazing. But it doesn’t quite fit I believe because my rig uprights are further forward than yours, what’s the distance between your uprights and the end of the rig?
You have to tune it a little. You might need to move the uprights or another component to get it sitting just right. It takes a bit of time but once its tuned it will fit as snug as a bug in a rug.
