1. It is in Europe, it is close and in "home" region and therefore much more important than long lasting conflict "far away".
2. The Russian full scale invasion shuttered the taboo of "not moving borders by armies", Israel/Palestine conflict is seen as mostly internal matter of Israel.
3. Russia and Nato are just much bigger military players. Large war in Middle East has small chance going nuclear, Nato vs Russia has small chance NOT going nuclear.

I used to love Germany, I don't know how I got it so wrong. This is a place where I've spent a considerable amount of time in different towns and cities, learned the language, even fell in love. I just can't reconcile in my head how this country we're talking about right now is the same place that I loved so much, because it's showing itself to be the opposite of everything I thought to be true.

I think the notion of the nature of the resistance being subject to analysis under international law is deeply flawed, not least because the occupation is and has always been in direct violation of international law, as has the continued brutality on civilians by the Israelis. Every other means they've tried, peaceful or aggressive, has been met with brutality. I don't think we have any right to condemn their actions, abhorrent though we might find them. I think that's mostly an expression of privilege.
I think international law is a very shaky metric to assess this situation, and it's getting shakier by the minute as apologists run roughshod over its most basic obligations.
But if we did actually analyze October 7 under international law, we'd notice that it was fully allowed and it was up to Israel to protect its citizens.
What if we analyze the period before October 7 do palestinians have the right to resist?, and don't get me wrong let's not speak about 70 years how about October 1 to October 6 only.
