I’ve had a pair of Nicks hot shots for about 5 years. Absolutely the best pair I’ve had. Depending on what I’m doing I will alternate them for my thorogood wedge moc toes but the Nicks are my favorite!

I have a pair of BuilderPros, i ordered with the fit sheet and the sizing is perfect. I heard a lot about the break in being long and painful however, I did not experience any of that. Boots were comfortable out of the box, perhaps I'm used to breaking in hard ski boots and skates.

Those are great looking boots. Now I want a pair. Your video is excellent. And yes, I do agree. Boots can and do make a statement about who might be, or who you are pretending to be. Well said, and true. If you can do a video with the boots on, please do. I SUBSCRIBED to your channel. PS. That plane zooming overhead freaked me out. Lol. Do you live close to a runway? Lol. Happy New Year to ya.

I'll do a work video later with the boots. Yeah there is a dang airport the lines up with where I live. Makes me feel nervous every now and then haha.

If you aren't working with fire/welding/etc, the builder pros are the same boot, but without the melt-resistant sole and thread.

I also had a sizing issue with my Nick's. They just really did not want to believe me their 9 1/2 EE wasn't wide enough in the toe but perfect in the heal. So they sent me a 10E......feels exactly the same width but with slip in the heal and just more than an inch in space after the end of my longest toe. I did pay for the try on sizing process and maybe could have asked them to rebuild them with more space in the toe but the smaller heal. But then I lose a rebuild on my uppers which is a huge selling point of the boot. I settled on stretching them with shoe trees which helps. Everything else about the boots is amazing. I just wish they believed what I was telling them about the fit.

dude, sick blade. amazing you made that. i'm in the process of breaking in some builder pros -arch feels weird, like a lump under my right heel, hoping the bottoms of the boot break in to shape to my arch/heel because everything else feels great after just about 6 hours of wear.

Great review mate, I’ve got a pair of the BuilderPros myself and I can attest to the break in being a pain in the arse. I’ve had them for almost a year and they’re still not really broken in. Compare that with my JK Boots and the difference is night and day. JK seem to make a boot that’s just as substantial as Nick’s but with hardly any break in. If you ever plan on getting these boots rebuilt then I’d recommend JK for the job. Also I’m not a knife guy, but that’s a noice knoife.
    Thanks for uploading.

Thanks, agree with others here about JK. My fire inlanders fit perfect on day one, no break-in, and still fit great after years of miles and work. JK most comfortable, sturdy boots I’ve ever owned.

Wow, so even with the wrong size, your cobbler was able to stretch the boots enough to make them wearable? Impressive! I'm awaiting my try on boots before finalizing the specs and I have to say I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing. Just hope I'm able to properly convey how things fit so that the final product is something I'll be happy with.
Also, great looking knife. I really like the leather stacks. Reminds me a bit of the Ka-Bar handle.

@@stonefallknives5518 That is a shame. But I'm glad the boots have worked out as well as they have for you.
I'm curious. How did you start out making knives? Was it a general interest in blacksmithing that lead to crafting knives or did you specifically set out to learn how to make them? I work as a cook and use knives six or so hours a day and it's always been in the back of my head that I'd like to work using a knife that I created myself.
      Anyway, thanks for your insight.

@@magicb0y Growing up I've had knives since I was about 4 years old. And I was very abusive to my knives in terms of throwing them and chopping a lot with them, skinning and such. And every knife I ever had broke. I I got sick of spending money cause I wanted better quality. So instead of spending 200 or $300 on a knife I just made one Then I made a better one then I made a better one And I figured I could make and sell them cheaper than anyone else And try to make a living with it.
And I always liked stories that involve a cool knife weather Rambo, dundee, Jim bowie, or Ben Lilly.

@@stonefallknives5518 That's a awesome skill to have. Regarding cool knives, my father has a colleague from Nepal who gifted him a kukri in a hardened leather sheath that includes two smaller, roughly one-inch blade knives that insert into slots in the sheath. It's such a cool-looking knife.

    Couple cents worth -
Depending on your definition of ‘broken in....’ these boots r brutal. Tho there not the toughest boots I’ve broken in, I wouldn’t recommend a pair for anyone 50+ cause you need to build some new muscle over the years it’s gonna take which is a shame because that’s @ how old you gotta be to afford a set of these suckers. I wore out my heel caps & 2/3way thru the forward lugs b4 they hit what I define as ‘broken in’.
T’other problem comes the day U need them repaired because now u know better & can’t wear any other type of footwear = so now U need another pair.
Of course eventually they will both break at the same time so you’ll need a 3rd and at this point you’ll need another style that u just can’t compromise on.
Handmade footwear isn’t addictive = it’s a necessity only the educated learn.
