I thought i had failed to press record but it turns out i did but the footage stored in weird place on my phone. I edited it and here it is.

So this sucks. I broke a knife and failed to record it properly. Eventually, I may do this exact knife again for viewing. But I don't feel like throwing away more money when I've got 4 other tests to upload, and I already know the result for this one.
It failed where a similar 8670 blade succeeded. A2 has way better edge retention, but 8670 is tougher in this application.

To determine which rifle is more powerful, all you have to do is look at the twist rate, powder capacity, and available bullets. The 45-70 20/1, 454 24/1 twist, the 45-70 will handle heavier bullets easily, the 454 uses pistol bullets with softer jackets. The 45-70is better in all categories in my opinion.
@michaelredman5750 not quite, but I do appreciate the comment. Twist rate has a minimal measurable effect on velocity, Powder capacity comparison is worthless when comparing smokeless rifles and handgun powders because they are entirely different burn rates. Not to mention manufacturers aren't building to maximum potential in all cartridges, as demonstrated in this video. This video is not about power but penetration. I have a disclaimer at the end of the video that addresses what the video is about specifically.

Sounds like you got a Marlin that was produced when Remington had the company. Based on what I've read, the Marlins produced by Ruger are quality rifles. But I know the old JM marked 1895s action worked as smooth as butter and was as accurate as the shooter.
@teddyt4989 you are correct. I got this rifle a while ago. It runs well now. But I am itching to get one of those ruger made marlins.

Did you do an oil or water quench to achieve that edge retention?
Had a buck 119 years ago..wouldn't hold a edge very well...would go dull overnight just by sitting...

My dad had one, played around with some hand loads using a faster burning powder. I'm wasn't all that big of a kid in my early twenties at 165 pounds. That sucker was brutal to shoot. Even factory loads were a little rough for me to shoot.
Have you seen the video the essential craftsman did making a Burke bar? He uses 5160 for the bit and the way he tempers it after quenching gets it to this blue color. Would this be a way to further improve your design? I’m very fascinated with this because I’m wanting to either make one (Bowie knife) or find someone capable of crafting one

Is over 60 hrc too brittle or was it lack of moby and silicon and or too much carbon
@SirPraiseSun I think it was too hard for this thickness. I'm im going to eventually do another flyweight at a lower Rockwell and see what happens. I've done a thicker one at the same hardness. I'll be releasing that video soon.

Kool. Just my opinion but if you would put your price down you would probably do alot better just an opinion. I'm a big knife collector but for around the 2-300$ range you can get a fully custom made knife from a new maker. Not knocking your blades or anything. I wanted to check one out tbh. But the price turned me away. I think once u clean everything up though you will definitely be able to ask 2-300$ range forsure man! Good shit regardless your heat treat is obviously good😊
@capttwitch input is always welcome when it doesn't require taking much of my time, but I'll be direct in response. When it comes to my prices you're out of luck. Your gonna have to grab one on a sale. if you can point out a single knife maker or company within even $ 50 of my price tags in the same steel, I would appreciate it, so I can compare quality and find further validaty in your input. I sell performance, and performance takes time. Time takes money. And the harsh reality in this day and age, a lot of knifemakers are frauds. Not all, but too many. That's why I started my channel as evidence I'm the actual maker. I've got nothing against knife collectors, and they are welcome to buy and they have helped to feed my family and shelter us and have my gratitude, but I build my knives for users primarily. That is where my high rating on my store comes from, as well as me having a blade on every continent on earth. For every 5 people who say my prices need to be lower I get 2-3 who have purchased my blades and tell me my price tags should be as much as twice as high. I'm not doing either of those.

Buck knifes in thr 70s had a commercial showing it going theough a bolt garenteeing it will oulast the bolt and they did now they dont put the effort into their knives
