by the way, hustle culture DESTROYS the heck out of your self-esteem. you're constantly bombarded with messages telling you "if you don't do x you're a wimp" and, because humans aren't machines, we sometimes can't do the things we set ourselves to do. then self-talk changes to "oh, I can't do that hence I'm a loser" which creates a vicious cycle.
I love what you shared. I said goodbye to instagram, Facebook, and alcohol for the year to get reentered on what is actually important in life. I wanted to cut out anything that takes me out of the present. I am moving into my van this year to travel and work in film. I want to live a life I love and I think a lot of us are living a life for what the people around them love.
There are 2 kinds of things in life: 1. Things I wanna do. 2. Things I need to do/should do/could do. Living life happily means striking a balance between those things everyday.
I have friends who are buying into "hustle culture." They are starting to suffer from anxiety while unknowingly becoming unproductive. Some hustles don't require 16 hour workdays.
totally agree. Sleep and rest allow you to be more creative without giving yourself time to relax you will never have the ability to exercise your creative muscles.
As someone's who been doing that overwork 20+ hours a day thing since 19, before you know it 10+ years pass you by and you realize how many years you wasted that were better spent actually going out, seeing friends, etc. Thankfully I've found that balance nowadays. Last thing I want is more regrets from not focusing on LIFE too.
I’ve always considered myself a hustler.. but I never considered that I had to work as many hours as possible in order to be a hustler. I still prioritize hustling but not neglecting your self care. It’s the quality of work you put in when you work.
For many years, I bought into the hustle culture. When I studied, I studied nearly all day. When I started working, I worked ‘round the clock during my first 2 years - and that resulted in autoimmune thyroiditis. Then, I switched jobs. The hours were shorter and more flexible. But turns out I was still stressing myself out because of the mental load involved in a sales job. Currently in the process of a diagnosis, possible autoimmune hypophysitis (causing a secondary adrenal insufficiency in my case).
Elon Musk can say whatever the hell he wants because it relates to him and benefits only him, not his workers. I can understand toiling when it's your own business, but when you're doing it at your expense then tell me who's benefiting the most out of your sweat? At the end of your life, nobody ever says: ''I should've worked more''.
Tbh I noticed that over time people who are like CEOs businessman have psychopathic traits it makes sense of why Elon thinks like that and is unrealistic for most of us.
Thanks a lot, great video, just realizing in the last few days I need to transform my way of managing time and work, managing goals... Work smarter like you said. Hustle culture is very much embedded unconsciously in our lifestyles...
Work for 16 hours a day for freedom ? By the time you reach a point where the money you made can actually buy you some free time, you’d be addicted and probably have lost many of the connections that makes life worth living.
- It’s not as productive as it seems - Your health will take a toll from stress - Everything becomes about work and not your own life, friends, family etc. Validation is needed purely from work. - It doesn’t allow you to think creatively to problems, making issues worse. But alas, we still need to work. The aim is to find a work-life balance - to care for yourself and for your work :)
okay, now see this is the problem. Elon Musk, a billionaire, thinks hustle culture is helpful... A billionaire. He is a billionaire for a reason. This becomes confusing...who am I supposed to believe?
Elon is one of the few that still promote hustle culture which is interesting. He still works long hours even after he made it. A lot of other people make it from hustling then talk about how hustle culture isn't it even though it was their hustle that helped. It all depends on what you want. If you want to create a lot of wealth, you might have to hustle and accept the hustle life
I actually did a video on this exact topic yesterday! You made some excellent points that I personally experienced first hand in my business/channel. Y'all are welcome to see how I overcame burnout and the hustle culture mentality on my channel!
I would add that its not only the hustle culture which people value, they value human suffering. If you do a job which is "fun" to you, everyone will say its not a real job, because heck enjoying yourself is not work! They want you to work in the mines dammit, and work overtime! Its basically a bypass to slave culture, instead of using a whip (because its not allowed anymore) they convince you that you should want to work to death for your own sake. Its really insidious and subtle.
I think there's gotta be a balance, if you're putting in only 40 hr work weeks and you want to change your current situation then you're gonna have to put in more work to drag yourself out of that situation. at the moment im putting in 75 hrs and still go to the gym and get plenty sleep and hang out with friends on the weekends. It's not for everyone tho that's for sure
Tbh hustle culture is not for me at all tbh you have to be a psychopath or have psychopathic traits to be obsessed with hustle culture is not for me at all.
thats like me saying that anyone that doesn't get on their grind is lazy and entitled.. hustle culture isn't for everyone..saying that people that are out here hustling are psychopathic is just ignorant
I think it is very important to have "off" days. I've been hustling ever since my 20's, no weekends, 16 hours work a day, but when I got my daughter, it connected. I had to slow down.
hey guys, I need help! i`m working on the research about hustle culture and its risks. if you have some articles connected with this topic, send me links please!! :)
@@TheLifeFormulaa I think we. All do, some of us just haven't found it or hasn't figured out a way to profit from it. "There's no such thing as work life balance. None!" -- Dan Pena The secret is to love the work. It becomes play. Then you can pull off the 120 hour "play" weeks without burnout.
