Valid concern but I am more concerned when people don’t know what they are doing. His technique is deliberate and much safer, avoiding sideways knee pressure. Im an Army guy who was a former wrestler and a Jiu Jitsu purple belt. There is no advanced military hand to hand combat training lol. You can attend the combatives program and get certified to teach but don’t let it delude you into thinking it makes you a real fighter.

This is why training martial arts or fighting sport is really important.

If you're finding yourself needing to engage in physical combat in the developed world today, you may be doing something wrong. Doing it for fun, by all means, but I'm not sure that physical combat is an important skill to succeed in life. Not saying it hurts either and if you enjoy it, by all means. I just always get confused by these comments that seem to treat training in combat sports as universally really important.

Actually the young guy who had wrestling experience from high school and was doing some martial arts stood a much better chance than the BJJ black belt gym owner. Traditionally, high-level wrestlers make fun of BJJ wrestling. I trained a guy for mixed martial arts who had a stellar collegiate career in wrestling and he won every single tournament in BJJ that I took him to and embarrassed the BJJ black belts and he was a blue belt in BJJ. People need to realize all martial arts are specific and that's what makes MMA so great is several different styles can win and win at the highest level.

I see most people going down to try to grab a leg, which never works. Maybe a double leg takedown would be more effective. But betting that on a person with your experience it will be far from easy.
Apart from that I would think something unconventional like a throw or just lifting you off the ground might be the only chance.
And in order to do that you would need a very strong and skilled person.

99.5% of Brazilian jiu-jitsu guys would absolutely have no chance (including me). Hell, most wrestlers wouldn’t.
But I would be interested in seeing how Michael Pixley could do.

I always thought that a wrestling tournament at the beach where a lot of average people could see it and be exposed to it, would help to build the sport. When it is off in a gym somewhere we are preaching to the choir. Thanks for taking the bull by the horns. I would like to come and check it out when it happens.

If you didn't, at minimum, wrestle D1 D2 and place in conference tourney...very little chance....even black belt Jitz

Georgio, put like tents or something over the mats, I’ve been in many outdoor tournaments. The mats get real hot. Also by the beach the mist might make the mats slippery, I’ve seen that happen before. Besides that I’m down to pull up.

If the goal is only take downs, BJJ is not wrestling's kryptonite. It's Judo and Sambo. Find that guy. Although it will still be a challenge, you will eventually lose $1000. Guaranteed.

I love it. I’ll give it a run or 20. It’s funniest when you have someone that’s only done jits or some sort of martial art that is focused on the “ art” aspect, and they legitimately think they can. But then if they’d only watch, you go up against champions in wrestling and school the hell out of em. lol
What I never understand is why people don’t suck that leg into their chest and give it hell when ya bait. They’re always so timid. Haha

Rule set makes a big different. BJJ guy did really well. Takedown game is just one part of grappling. Once ur on the ground you’ll see the full aspects of his game. That wasn’t the purpose here

Watching the part vs the bjj guy and being reminded of one subtle difference: wrestlers slap and go, bjj slap bump then go. Bjj guy thought he left him hangin on the bump haha.

I think you should say to people " I will only defend the takedown , I'm not gonna be on the offensive" it's gonna be more enticing. We already know you can takedown 99% of the human population. Taking them down only makes the bout extremely short and the volunteers can be surprised with the sudden burst of movement in their bodies. Also there's less risk for them to get injured as they chose the pace of the bout.
Karaté Bushido's Greg MMA from France is way below your level used this method to gain a lot of success in his previous street videos which boosted his channel (and he's cringe on camera sometimes, whilst you're good)
