UMX WACO maiden flight on 2S

- I usually try all my planes on all battery options they have, just to see how they behave. For some reason the WACO was only flown on 3S, until now.
It still flies great on 2S, it can go really slow and it's still fairly aerobatic. Of course 3S gives more flight envelope but nothing wrong with flying it on 2S.
Hi Alex, the Waco needs the weight of the 3s all the way forward to have an ok CG (and still is kind of tail heavy). I think it was Will Steffen, who even added some extra weight next to the motor. With the lighter 2S, it will be even more tail heavy and if you try to compensate via trim, you won‘t have fun inverted 😂. Plus the strange behavior that you observed. For a touch‘n‘go, you actively need to fly the Waco to the ground rather than just easing up on the throttle. Doing the latter will make it climb, as the motor camber becomes less effective on lower RPM (I hope this explanation is correct). Long story short: Check the CG and consider adding some nose weight - you will be surprised, how much better the Waco flies. At least I was. First I was rather disappointed from this model, but since I adjusted CG and trim, I love the Waco too - not just for it‘s looks. Touch and goes won’t be an issue anymore and also for the landing you don’t need to be afraid of a stall. And finally, better control on take off, too. Hope these tips will be sort of helpful.

Had the same on my WACO, added just a little less than a 1/ 4 Oz. In the nose with a 3s.
Just put 3.5g of lead weight right in the front next to the motor. When i recently flew at the beach & park ( videos soon) a huge difference with a 27g camera mounted under the forward wing.

The truth is it was kind of a rushed flight because it was getting dark and I don't have the CG marked on this one, I just know where the 300mah 3s balances.
The 2s was 500mah so it should be close in weight to the 3s, I also placed it a bit further forward than usual.
But I might try to fly it again moving weight to the front, I have some bigger 3s as well I could try.
I don't know why but I feel this model flies a bit different each time I fly it, again might be CG, I usually don't try to get it perfect, just close to what is recommended.
Thanks for taking your time to explain in such detail, I hope I will have time to play around with different setups so I can feel the difference.
Was that with the battery all the way forward?

Adequate yes, but it's a shame not using a 3s if you have one 😄
Nice flight my friend looks very scale on 2s I don't have the Waco but I do have the umx Pitts S 1S and it flies about the same on 2s very scale but on 3s it's crazy fast.
