As an owner of 13900k and ex-owner of 7950x, 7950x ran hotter in everything
Actual reality is that 7950x ran about 5-10 degrees hotter while on RUclips and such compared to "volcano" of a 13900k.
People that speak on these CPUs don't actually own them.
AMD hype train is about as disgusting as everyone calling AMD garbage compared to Intel during Vishera/Bulldozer days when I owned AMD FX-8320
People don't know what they are talking about.
AMD is not garbage, but it has issues, you can look at countless of videos
Intel also has an issue, and you can see a bunch of videos on that.
Both CPUs have issues, but 7950x is solid, and in my case 13900k is solid
But "volcano"? You don't own 7950x
You comparing car with V8 engine to 4-core engine vehicle. Of course it will be cooler, like putting
i5-13400 into your motherboard and then comparing it to 7800x3D in heat.
I am almost 100% sure you are speaking on 7800x3D, and you never owned 13900k or 7950x to tell a difference.

@@righteousone8454 79xx series was designed to run near programmed thermal limits to deliver blistering speed even in light loads - which explains why the 7950x "just feels a lot snappier" in basic uses - as many reviewers pointed out. Also consider how each manufacture measures thermals - a true test would be to measure heat coming from the AIO.
That said, Intel's heat dissipation was VASTLY improved 13/14 gen (basically same thing), something that was required to tame the extreme power usage - and they did an excellent job there.
AMD claims to have now greatly improved their heat dissipation also on the 9xxx series - something I'll be watching for in the 3rd party reviews. Might be interesting to see if it's just due to lower TDPs or if they actually did improve it (OC temp comparisons will reveal)
Not an argument to your post, I agree with it mostly - just a supplement.

Any company that makes CPUs HAS to have AI processing in it because the future REQUIRES AI processing. Any windows based system needs a minimal no. of TOPS to install Win12, but there's going to be improvement of AI tools in different software and eventually most people are actually going to WANT those NPUs. Yes, really. Eventually even games are going to use AI functionality for the game logic to give variation in games that otherwise wouldn't be possible. That will have to run on the CPU or an NVMe NPU. It certainly can't run on the GPU.
I don't give a rat's ass about who said what about CPU X beating CPU Y by z%. It's safe to assume that with the jump in IPC for Zen 5 that the differences between a 9700X and 7800X3D is going to be similar, with some games being better on one or the other. Yes, the media youtubers HAD to make a BIG story out of what was said. I ignored all that, typically I just stop watching a video because I don't care about it.
It's safe to say that the jump for Zen 5 is going to be good enough that the vcache parts are going to easily be the best gaming CPUs until Arrow Lake launches and Intel will get a decent IPC boost just from getting rid of SMT - 2. So, for games that push a CPU a bit Arrow Lake should be a good performance jump over 14th gen. It's hard to know what that's going to look like, but I doubt it will be as good as AMD Zen 5 vcache parts.
Not interested in upgrading from Zen 3 until the CPU-chipset interface is 16GB/s and if AMD can't get there with Zen 6 I'll be switching to Intel for the first time in 26 years at that point because I use multiple NVMe and run dual boot systems so I need that link to be faster than 8GB/s like it's been since X570/Zen 2. C'MON AMD FIX IT.

Where the built in NPU TOPS excels against GPU TOPS is TOPS per watt, battery saving, in other words which kind of makes the NPU irrelevant in the desktop market. • @asknight
      @asknight Месяц назад

@@makerspersona5456 certainly, choosing the right tool for the job is of paramount importance, at least in the area of efficiency. My point was more contrary towards the idea that the desktop market would be without Ai compute power without an NPU. At least in these early stages, the GPU will remain king of compute power in that market. The current/next gen NPU only adds $20-50 to the chip, but remember the chip market is absolutely brutal cut-throat and if one competitor can undercut the other by a few dollars by offloading Ai compute to discrete graphics, they will choose that route every time. Why that same idea doesnt make sense in mobile computing is because that $20-50 NPU is still cheaper than the $100-200 discrete mobile GPU but you get enough Ai compute power for personal use.

Hmm, the only sucker would be the B840.
Only board partners would have use of such "branding" differentiation to put something between the B and A series. Like cmon, PCIe4.0 should be minimum for anything aimed at gaming - even A-series users should think about gen4.0 capability as SSDs are quickly covering such speeds. I mean you open specifications of notebook: system PCIe3, SSD PCIe4, as AMD kept on selling rebranded Cezanne (Zen3) APUs after Ryzen 7000 to cover cheaper segments. Honestly it's time the board partners invest in better technologies to produce quality PCB that allows decent PCIe and memory speeds, as the issue of expensive AMD chipsets isn't entirely on AMDs account, the chips they sell are most likely priced where intel prices theirs, it's the PCB requirements that raise the price. Like, we need this in notebooks aswell.

Conversely, I find it disheartening to read comments sections like these where brand sycophants are cheering for a megacorporation that doesn't give a shit about them like their favorite sports team. Intel doesn't care about you and neither does AMD, Qualcomm, Apple, or anyone else.
