It was established in 1940 as a base for the air force of the Imperial Japanese Army, and was seized by the Allied Forces after World War II. It is the largest U.S. Air Force base in Japan outside of Okinawa Prefecture. This base is used by the President of the United States when he enters Japan. There is an American culture around this base, and you can feel American while in Japan.
