As a big-time airplane nerd with a wife who isn't, I have some suggestions on what might appeal to even non-enthusiasts. 1: Airplanes that can hover/VTOL. I woke up one day to her saying: "You never told me that there's jets that can hover!" And she showed me a video of an F-35 that went into a hover over the water near a beach full of onlookers. Most of your average non-enthusiasts don't know VTOL jets exist. Fixed-wing aircraft that can hover is sci-fi shit to them. 2: The first jets ever made. Most people don't know when the first jets were invented and what they were like. 3: Space exploration interests almost everyone, methinks. NASA has used a great deal of airplanes (even military jets) over the years for research and such. Not only would I like to know more about that, but I think any space nerds would too. And it would be a good example of aircraft being used for something other than warfare.
Regardless, I love your channel and won't be offended if you pass on my suggestions. Looking forward to more videos.

A VTOL, variable geometry wing/delta wing (the swing wings sit on top of a delta wing when swept back so it essentially has 2 sets of wings rather than swing wings and tail wings like the f111) supersonic strike fighter. designed between 1962 and 1968. Never made for various reasons. Sadly.

As a Korean plane nerd, I've love to add some details about the KF-21's development.
As a part of our acquisition of F-35As in 2015, Lockheed Martin was slated to transfer a slew of technologies from that program to KAI. The US government ended up blocking the transfer of technologies related to AESA radar, InfraRed Search+Track sensor, targeting pod, and RF jamming; these are all pretty much benchmark capabilities for a fighter developed from the 2010s onwards, especially for one encroaching on '5th gen' capabilities.
We ended up developing our own designs for those systems, which is a nice jump in domestic technological capacity. The KF-21 as a whole is less reliant on foreign contribution in terms of design and manufacturing compared to the T-50, our first supersonic aircraft and takes many attributes from the F-16.
But why weapons are outside? It'll ruin the stleath, are they planning to add it in later virsion?

Fun Fact: Lockheed Martin is heavily involved as KAI makes their own Korean Raptor. It was obvious it would end up inspiring some designs from the F-22 to their KF-21 Boramae. Previously, they also helped designing FA-50 the F-16 deriative for Korea.

Hey man! I admit, I do only come to your channel when you upload aviation related content. I like the humor, and the snappy pacing though. One thing you are keep mentioning is the fact that you'd always like to go in depth about certain subjects regarding planes, but you don't want to, since it is not your priority on this channel. Now, I have no idea how much time and effort goes into maintaining a channel (I assume a LOT), but what if you made a secondary, more aviation focused channel, where you could ramble on about all the nerdy plane stuff that you'd like to share? I reckon many aviation enthusiasts would like that, and even you'd have the chance to go all out on the topic! Just thought I'd leave this suggestion here, so that it may spark your motivation and imagination. But however you decide, it is completely up to you. Keep being awesome, and produce the content that you like! (Thank you for listening to my TED talk)

Interestingly, some sources claim that the overall design of the KFX program came from espionage. According to public reports from the Chinese government about technology leakers, Korean-descended managers at the Shenyang Aircraft Manufacturing Company handed over the first version of the overall design of the FC-31 to South Korean spies. I think this report makes sense. The KFX is very close to the first version of the FC-31 prototype in MTOW and aerodynamic design. The South Koreans exchanged the DSI inlet technology and large weapon bay that were missing from the formula with other designs.
What’s even more interesting is that this leak directly led to the FC-31 project being redesigned to make it better.

@@tmgogicov7818 Whether you like it or not, KF-21 is highly similar to FC-31 in terms of parameters such as MTOW, length, wingspan, and height, as well as in terms of air intake position, total wing area, center of gravity, landing gear size and position, main wing airfoil, stabilizer design and installation position, and other aerodynamic design aspects. What is even more "coincidental" is that after FC-31 was exposed in 2014, KFX started the overall design work in 2015. So I think this story is logical.

It quite interesting. Turkey got its stealth fighter designing and building experience from the Bayaktar Kizilelma UCAV program(which is a whole other story), and the TAI TF is basically a reconfigured aircraft with a cockpit on it. I mean that thing went from idea to first flight in 4 years, it's definitely connected to the Kizilelma.
KF-21 on the other hand has a crazier story involving multiple nations. Koreans developed a stealth plane which almost didn't happen because partnering Indonesia didn't pay up their promised research cost at first, but they still couldn't develop an AESA radar suitable for it, so they called up Lockheed Martin and LM basically said "You want our electronics package? Buy our F-35s" so Korea did buy 40 F-35s and as a bonus LM threw in an Airbus military satellite(it's complicated) along with the radar and avionics Korea didn't have. Now where it gets interesting is Korea's plans with the "4.5th Gen" plane. The idea is to eventually get it to carrier capable 5th(or maybe 6th the development is flexible to changes) Gen(because Korea is thinking on and off about a super carrier, but that's another story) by block 4. Block 1 was the air superiority 4.5th gen. Block 2 currently in development has improved air-to-ground systems and turn it into a multirole fighter. Block 3 will turn it into a true 5th gen fighter with internal weapons bay and a complement of KUS-X UCAV loyal wingmen. "Block 4" is technically a side-grade into specialized roles, with Block 2 and later Block 3 carrier and electronic warfare variants. Then there's also the KF-XX program proposed earlier this year by a joint Saudi-Korea partnership which aims to turn the 5th Gen KF-21 Boramae into the 6th Gen KF-21 Super Boramae.

Love the kf21 !!! It is very under appreciated in my opinion when talking about its capabilities.
It won't get full 5th gen status till it has internal weapon bays. Until then it's 4.5 but it's still pretty good. I hope we get some combat exercises with it in the future

The thing is…we’ve had the F-22 since *1997*. It’s hard to care about everyone playing catch up. I adore how every new fighter is touted as the F-22 “killer” when the thing might be older some of their designers
Nice video man. But there is one thing i need to correct about the Kaan. The development of the Kaan fighter jet started in the early 2010's, before we got kicked out of the F-35 program. The Kaan (or TF-X as it was known at the time) was planned to be used alongside the F-35, not as a replacement to it.

the gripen's official designation is JAS39. the J, A and S are all short for different things in swedish. ''Jakt, Attack, Spaning'', Which means ''Hunting, Attack and Reconnaissance''.
You should look at the DMU series (23 through 26) developed from the X-2 shinshin (there's a lot more information on the shinshin then on the rest, so maybe just do it), development got partially rolled up into GCAP along with the rest of the F-X program, but they have some really interesting concept and the airframe was partially developed, along with the engine being fully made and the electronics still being made for GCAP.
Or maybe even honestly the F-2, there's so much about it that basically no one knows cause there's not any english sources for most the stuff.
The KF-21 is actually meant to be a 4th gen when it enters service, but it will be low observable (slightly stealthy) with the option of upgrading to true stealth in the future

The world trying to catch up with the american raptor is just hilarious to see. Not only hasn´t a singel one of them matched the raptor´s capabilities to this day (thats 3 decedas now), the americans have already build the Lightning 2, which is better in every way compared to the raptor.

Would be way more funny if you mentioned how the radar options for the KF-21 were made by LG and Samsung. But what is interesting about the KF-21 is that it is supposedly meant to have a carrier variant for korea's planned aircraft carriers, and there arent that many carrier fighters in the world.
In Korea they call Samsung "The Company" from what I gather. They make everything. Such as artillery.
