I'm so excited to say that I've had my ukulele for not quite 2 weeks, starting last week I started doing these exercises and today I finally was able to do this without sounding like a goose with a hairball!!
thank you for the great advice! I mostly have trouble on the 1st fret since it's so raised from the board compared to the other frets. Hopefully I'll develop enough strength for that one x
I vote yes! Every Day ☺️. It works!!! 30 days! I've added scales with the Barre to work all the fingers. It is worth the few minutes a day! You'll get so much more enjoyment!👍😎✌️
Thanks so much for sharing!! I was wondering why the bar chords were so hard and didn't sound clear - now I have some exercises to help me get past this. Thank you!!!
Mike I love your video's and I appreciate all the time you spend teaching on line. It is much appreciated. (BTW it is exercise and not excercise.) No to go off and develop my muscles.
@layahma I agree. . . Same goes for the mandolin. My theory is that the neck is so narrow, it somehow forces the fngers to use even different muscles then those on guitar barre chords. Also, the strings are generally much closer so getting a clean sound with two or more fingers added to the barre chord make it an issue too
I have a new solid koa ukulele where the string tension is lower at the nut, however the frets are slightly lower. This is affecting some of my barre chords (the D7 form). Your exercises will help, thanks.
hey mike thank you so much for all these awesome videos! funnily enough i dont seem to have much problems with barring as show it in your video, but going from one chord (G e.g) to a barre chord is really diffucult as the position of ones thumb is so much different when barring. do you have any tips for that? cheers!
What a wonderful teacher. RiP Mike really enjoying this lesson again. Time works wonders.

This is fantastic -- thank you!
This really did teach me how to play barre chords! The exercises really helped me to build the muscles needed.
You've helped me so much, thank you Mike, don't know where I'd be without all your excellent videos
These exercises helped me finally get better sounding barre chords. Thank you!

Thank you very much for your lessons, you are very good teacher and player. It helps me very well. Thanks!
Thanks Mike! Our uke group was thinking of doing some weekly warmups to help folks develop their barre chord techniques. This helps!

Mike, I miss you. RIP
You know your stuff.
Yay
Thumb on my left hand hurts how can I correct this problem please ?
part of that is normal, but if it starts to hurt regularly when not playing, look up something like the hand band and eccentric finger exercises

Hi mike can I mix bar chords with normal chords
sirr!!
this exercise is also applicable on a standrd acoustic guitar or not???
plzz answer!!
Is this applicable even for the guitar?
could I use guitar strings on my suprano uke ?
Emmett Leech - why would you want to?
My second string remains muted no matter what, any tips?
Maybe try not to lay the inlet of your finger on the string
Since when are using the French spelling of bar (barre) to describe a chord form used on a Portuguese instrument adapted by Hawaiians? LOL!!
