Thanks so much for the kind review, Jorphdan. Its humbling and appreciated. You are correct that we have two more forthcoming products. The Gazetteer has taken a bit longer than anticipated but should be released in a few weeks (knock on wood). Volume 3 will be structured in such a way that it can continue Volume 2 or be run on its own. It will go from levels 10 through 20. Its mostly written at this point but still needs to go through editing, art, and layout. Hoping for sometime in the summer :) P.S. Agree with all the positive comments re: the clean cut look
@@noblesseoblige319 sorry -- missed this for some reason. We are getting close but still hard to commit to a date -- mostly waiting on art, at this point. Clean face Jorphdan gives mirror universe vibes. Not a bad thing just a alternative universe version. So Doomed is the Dark DC comic line? Interesting...
That sounds interresting ... been running Tyranny of Dragons, and always thought that if my players failed I'd run the follow up as a post apocalyptic "Tiamat rules" campaign.
Honestly I see the Rise of Vecna as the next part after the trilogy. After the events of die Vecna die! The players, or perhaps a new generation from the players of the vecna trilogy, are contacted by Mordenkainen who would introduce them to Elminster, a canonical buddy of Mordenkainen, who got word that Vecna was spotted in another version of Toril and requesting the players to help the dieties of Toril in stopping Vecna.
My party was sick of RP so I put them in a new dungeon crawl that took them 3 sessions to get through. Then they realized what they had done and asked for more RP. As they defeated the BBEG,lvl 2 mind you, I faced them off with a an arena style combat that they couldn’t win. A blue beholder greeted them and thought they minty do nicely. They then died and “awoken” in their new AAO bodies, matrix style. Really threw them for a loop. My only gripe with this adventure is you really need to write each area. I found how good of a writer I was and we had a fantastic first Doomed Forgotten Realms session. They are excited and so am I.
I have only just started running DnD (Been a player before for many years but mainly run Vampire The Masquerade) and I have found your videos exceptionally useful. So thanks! Your face is great bearded or not by the way.
I had an idea for a Vecna campaign - after his attempts failed in Greyhawk, he tried the same thing on Toril and succeeded. And the PCs had to seek through his past to find ways to break his hold on the world. This product intrigues me.
Damn shrooms kicked in when you said "mirror universe". 10/10 will rewatch. I'm back, what a great supplement shoutout! I love the idea. After exploring Forgotten Realms as a setting for 20 years, its kind of grinding my gears. No story support for an entire hemisphere of Toril, like Al Quadim for example. In defense of levels 1-3, these should be oriented towards Mystery, Puzzle, Exploration, and narrative building IMO. If you're starting a new game in a world you are unfamiliar with, these levels can be essential for world building.
I've wanted something like this for ages! I've said to my players I want to run a multiverse/timehop adventure where they have to go between doomed worlds born of the failure of heroes, but I'll take having to explore the one world where everything went wrong. I just hope they don't underplay the role of Tiamat, since the end of Tyranny of Dragons gives such an evocative image through "The age of Man has ended. The age of Dragons has begun."
Hope I wrote this in time. If not sorry! Sadly the adventure has very little reference to Tiamat. She is intended to be a dominant force in the realms that rivals Vecna. This story, though, was meant to focus on the Vecna side of things. There is a lot of Tiamat info though in the upcoming gazetteer -- enough to home brew something with her as the bbeg. Youve got me thinking about an epic followup adventure staring the queen of dragons!
Take one look outside, sigh, pack his things and move to an alternate reality where he doesn't need to deal with this nonsense. No way Vecna would leave him in peace.
first off, you look great breadless. Second, it's funny thinking about Toril and the ramifications of its events. My Spelljammer campaign I'm running, stopped at the moon of Farworld in Garden. There I had a town crier yelling news about a Tarrasque fighting an old god and mind flayers invading Baldurs Gate, followed by how the lords of waterdeep plan to learn how to utilize the summoning of Tarrasque to guard the city gates due to realising it truly existed. I mean wouldnt all the cities start lurching forward with better ways to guard the cities just because of all the shenanigans. Anyhow, thanks for the videos, andagain the clean face looks good on you😊
2:30 "The author here, who I think is Marcus. Who I dealt with in the past." Sounds like Marcus was BBEG what you tangled with before and are surprised they're still writing adventures. 😆
I never seen you with facial hair SOOOOOOOO I think it looks fantastic 👍🤣 great content. Watched alot of your old videos about forgotten realms and loved them, first one with your fave cam and it holds up on the content level good job.
I DM an Icewind Dale game, and one of the PCs is from the Candlekeep region. He gets some help from some NPCs in Waterdeep that are my former PCs from a Dragonheist game. Meanwhile, Baldur's Gate is in hell. I think it's a fun idea to have some of these things happening at the same time. Kinda helps with 'hey why aren't more powerful people helping out here?" if there's multiple world-ending events going on.
i always make that joke with my players. They save a city from cultists of Orcus, and say gosh, why wasn't Elminster here to help? he sticks his head in, for that little thing? I had a Major Archmage NPC call the BBEG's plan to turn a continent into a extended Dragon's lair and volcanic wasteland everyday childs play. for heroes that have been around for a few centuries, they are far more concerned with stopping Vecna ascending to greater Godhood, or preventing a plane wide incursion from the far realms then the fate of a few cities.
Spooky! I was trying to work out what the current state of Faerun would be in relation to all the adventures and known lore literally earlier today! It was prompted by my sudden hyperfocus on the current geopolitical climate based on the real world and how it absurdly seems like I'm the DM researching the world setting for a bunch of players with how much context just doesn't make it into the news. Have you considered doing a video on the geopolitics of the various nations and factions of Faerun currently (before all of the campaigns in this video fail)?
Doomed Forgotten Realms seems to fix many of the problems the regular setting has. I would never, ever run Forgotten Realms as is but I would consider running the Doomed version of it.
Ironic that the video about a dark future for the forgotten realms is brought to us by the guy who is CLEARLY an evil, beard-less Jorphdan from an alternate dimension! Seriously tho, great video… the possibilities are endless with this idea. I’m mad I didn’t think of it 😂
You know those videos where the children start screaming in terror when they see their father clean shaven for the first time...this is like that. Just kidding. It looks good. Possibly better even.
This idea strongly reminds me of a sly flourish newsletter from a couple months back, which laid out the same basic adventure, but sounding like a little bit more political intrigue than this adventure and lacking our favorite Lich
I'm thinking this would work set in the Shadowfell. Since the Shadowfell can be a negative mirror image of the players' world, then the bad guys could have definitely been the victors there. I'd love to run it with my current group but they will likely be level 10 by the time they finish their current adventure. Any thoughts on the ease or difficulty to level adjust this module?
Hey Rolando. Volume 3 will start at level 10 and have a lot of Ravenloft/Shadowfell stuff in it. So that might be the best bet for your current group. Hoping to have it out by the middle/end of summer.
Doomed FG is a cool concept, but put that aside for a moment. With as many amazing FR villains as there are, why do we need to get another damn Vecna appearance in a world he was never even intended to operate in? Keep Vecna on Oerth or drop Easter eggs in interplanar business, but keep major villains in FG to the FG history! They can’t even give us a 5e Forgotten Realms campaign sourcebook. They made FG the default setting, then neglected it for the next 8 years. Even to the point of cancelling almost all the FG novels. Terrible, Failed, Missed opportunities all around. Sorry to be negative but it’s how I feel.

Heck yeah I needed a review of this. I started clocks like all the things were happening. Then you said it a while ago, and then this came out.
Doomed FR basically could work for a group which haven't played a certain campaign, but wanna play a doomed version of it. That's nice

This adventure sounds amazing!! Thanks for the awesome video. :) I just wish they had POD available for this one.

Clean shaven looks sharp. 👍
This could also be a basis for a fun “Let’s play the baddies and try to keep doo-gooder adventurers from overthrowing our evil bosses” game!
This sounds awesome! And I’m diggin the clean shaven look!
And also, good luck for your upcoming performance!
The main question is: what Larloch did in this variation of FR?
