I can attest to the strength of the Sawyer pouches. Didn't do the bleach long term storage thing last year. When I went out this spring on an overnighter, nothing would come out except a few drops. Back flushed a few times and finally got a weak dribble using all my hand strength squeezing the pouch. Didn't burst. Took 20 minutes to produce a liter.
What Sawyer is doing for the world outweighs any other filter for me. This filter can last 20 years, and Sawyer donates to places all over the world, so they can have clean water. Hondorous and Africa are just a few.
It would be important to note that viruses usually ride on a host that can be filtered out by the .1 micron filter, and if not then those are usually dead viruses, and no 3rd world country where those Sawyer filters are being used have ever reported becoming sick by a virus when using the filters.
It’s insane that sawyer doesn’t do like an annual how to video. The only thing I see is 12-13 years old. Really ? It doesn’t even come with directions lol. Isn’t this kind of important ? So thank you for this !
back washing with Smart water bottle sport top does not work. Need to use the plunger! Also CNOC works great and is perfectly combatable. Thanks for the video
Thanks for the video. I have always used the Sawyer Mini, in Europe the Squeeze is too expensive. I have now managed to find it at an acceptable price and should receive it next month, curious to see the big difference in filtering compared to the mini version
Would be much easyer if both sides of the mini and squeeze could be used with Standart threads bottles, like water bottles, than you could bckwach much easyer and also collect water in bigger containers much easyer. 🤗
Thank you so much for this video. Very helpful. How many times can I use the Sawyer Squeeze filter? I just bought one for a hike up Mt. Whitney. Just curious. Thanks
Theoretically they last forever, but if you don’t use them often enough they will grow mold inside (if you don’t clean it before winter storage as an example). The other situation you would want to get a new one is if it was outside/in the car during a freeze. Freezing potentially ruins the filter and there’s no way to know for sure if that happened or not
In the online description it say somthing of sanitizing the filter, how does it work, becourse I thing they will be allways some dirt in the filter left, even after backwashing, it's a shame that I haven't found anywhere a video how do all this, that would be nice, in the uk the squeeze version is very expensive, over 60£ that is about today 77$ ,not everyone can afford so much money for a "camping" trip filter. 😔
The plunger is a 50ml syringe nothing more, it's not bad that they can be bought almost everywhere in the world for replacing a very old one in some time.
The caps would have proberly much more lifetime with hinge type caps than this bend type, that could be back and fall of, like the stupid hinge less caps on soooo many containers.
Surprised you did not recommend replacing sawyer squeeze bag with a cnoc bag. They are much easier to fill and you don’t need another device to fill it.
Your totally right! I meant to say that I use the platypus bladder bags instead, but forgot. I’ve been wanting to try the CNOC bags, but haven’t gotten around to it yet!
Sawyer recommends replacing the filter as there is no way to know if the filter has been damaged due to expansion and contraction or not. If it was left for an extended period of time, damage is much more likely.
Hi when squeezing the water overflows out of the opening that’s located all around, roughly in the center of the filter. Is that normal? The water goes into my bottle and then seems to overflow through that opening in the middle (not the connections)
I would consider contacting Sawyer to see if there could be a problem with the filter. As long as you aren’t trying to filter muddy puddle water or algae filled cow water it shouldn’t taste bad. It might not taste like tap water, but it shouldn’t be bad. As a note, I do usually add water enhancer to my water (mio, etc) as it helps me mentally with drinking filtered water and also masks any quirky flavors. I know plenty of people that don’t do that though
I'm very worried about water in the coming months . I don't think this is practical. Everyone down at the river being kind to each other filling their water bags???? Lol
The sawyer should last you a very long time. Love it. Had the same one since 2018. 😊
1 million uses from what I hear. Nearly a lifetime
I’ve been using a bladder from a hydration pack for dirty water…much.much faster to fill than sawyer bags and the hose is a perfect fit.

Brilliant video! Concise and straight to the point
Don’t edit out your grin!
Using a cut water bag as a scoop. Brilliant idea. 👍

Thanks. Very concise and useful.
thanks you for videos we use Sawyer water filter in Episcopal Anglican Diocese of Maiwut south Sudan,

I might add, you can also just dip the dirty water bag and forgo the poop scoop spout, cut up water bottle etc..
True! It's just nice to have a scoop in case the water is to shallow and still for filling up a bottle or water bag.
Thanks for the vid!
I sleep with my Sawyer but now I gotta pay child support to a Sawyer mini.
Thank you 😊
This is so helpful!
Thank you so much I got subscribed God bless you

Bleach for mold? Nah you are supposed to use White Vinegar and it not only gets rid of it but prevents it too
Thank you for the tips. 👍

Nice job 😊

I'd it true that the squeeze veryion can be used for ever vs the mini version with "only" 100000 gallons of water? 🤔

Thnx
I got mine for $28 at a Walmart, I guess I found the best price around lol
Out of curiosity, has there ever been a recall on this product??
Not up my knowledge
@@TheMostImportantStep thank you for responding
Accidentally left mine in the car during a few months in the cold winter. Not sure what to do
