I think the Goofy ending would've been phenominal had it been implied that Pete had left them gifts.

I'm kind of surprised you didn't mention Goofy going out and helping his neighbors during a time when they were really struggling. I know it isn't the focus of the story, but it was just really heartwarming as it wasn't something they needed to touch on and they did it anyway.

O Deum meum! Look in the credits at the end of the movie.

    • @DreamfactoryZero
      @DreamfactoryZero 7 лет назад +8

OHH! yeah that's harder to find. If you're interested in individual animators check out Winsor McCay, The Nine Old Men. Freddy Moore, Art Babbit, Glen Keane, Andreas Deja these are more of the old school and 90's animators who you'd mostly find stuff on. You could also search Tex Avery/ Chuck Jones. It's harder to find stuff on the lesser known animators. What I like to do is find the "Behind the Scenes" stuff on animated movies to get an idea on the production and the thought that went into each bit of the movie/ show.

Here's a fun fact you probably didn't notice. You know the stuffed bear in Goofy's short named "Old Stuffed Bear"? That teddy bear actually shows up in An Extremely Goofy Movie where Max and Goofy argue about whether or not Max is taking the bear to college. That's pretty amazing that they kept such a minor detail.

5327indarkness That's...pretty much what makes one a critic. Not in the profession sense, but there's a reason why the phrase "everyone's a critic" exists. Even if, during the Disneycember videos, Doug isn't in his Nostalgia Critic character, he's still being a critic.

  • @SouthJerseySam

I actually find this to be a personal favorite of mine. It may not be the best when it comes to writing and such, but I think it was trying to bring out the emotion of both the characters and the Christmas season, between the ups and downs, the triumphs and tribulations, each played out in an interesting style that makes it unique on its own. I consider this and Twice Upon a Christmas my own personal favorites to watch during the Christmas season.

A little side note about Max Goof, he is the only Disney character that we seen grow up. In Groof Troop, he is around 11 years old, in this movie, he is more around 9, in Goofy Movie, around 14, the sequel at 18, in the series "House of Mouse", maybe in 16 - 20 year range.. Huey, Dewey and Louie, even though older characters never got that kind of treatment.. Yea, in Quack Pack they look 16... But in every other medium they been in... Always look the same. Even though.... THEY KILLED THEIR FORTH BROTHER PHOOEY DUCK... Look that up. So Max, we literally grew up with him... As for the Duck brothers... Not so much.

3:36 - Speaking of nice little touches to the Disney universe, the biggest reference of all which Doug either didn't catch or didn't mention is that the band Mickey performs with in his segment is a caricature of Firehouse Five Plus Two, which was a Dixieland jazz band made up of members of Disney's animation studio. Two of the members FYI were Frank Thomas and Ward Kimball, who were also two of Disney's Nine Old Men. If you watch the movie again and look at each band member, they are all caricatures of the real members of the band.

This movie was, not even kidding or being sarcastic at all, was what TRULLY taught me the real meaning of Christmas. No joke, I used to think Christmas was all about getting toys as a kid, and yeah while plenty of kids start out that way and eventually find out that's not the case as they grow older, this taught me that lesson when I was still very young. I literally opened my eyes in awe at the realization when I was around six or seven. I did eventually learn that Christmas is all about love and selflessness, but this film was, without a doubt, where it started for me.

About a month ago I watched this one on Netflix for the very first time.
I don't think this is an awesome movie or Christmas special but a very nice one that is worth rewatching. I can't decide which of these stories is my favourite, they all have weaknesses but also their qualities. And they're sweet, especially the one with Mickey and Minnie.
BTW: My favourite gag in this not only made me laugh but also a bit speechless: it's the one in the Goofy story referring to the Lumberjack sketch by Monty Python (you know: lumberjacks wearing women's underwear and loving it...). Whoever managed to put this in (in a DISNEY CHRISTMAS movie) deserves my respect :D

3:02 That's kinda funny, because I know Mickey mostly as a detective, foiling the plans of the Phantom Blot and other gangsters.
Man, some of those comics were really good.

It is explain in this movie that Santa was the one who gave Max “Old Stuffed Bear.” The following year, in An Extremely Goody Movie, Old Stuffed Bear makes an appearance when Max goes off to college. Goofy uses him as a way to tell the audience how difficult it is for him to see his little boy become an adult and leave him.

It just dawned on me... Goofy is a single dad, and Donald looks after his seemingly orphaned nephews and niece with help from extended family. I know this isn't exactly new info... but... I never really considered the implications and how very... real... those situations are.

this was the main christmas movie from my childhood and i still love it to this day. I actually like that they stuck with the santa is real ending because as a kid it strengthened my belief in him. i think there's no harm in believing because kids will find out eventually, and when i re-watch this movie that ending warms my heart with childhood imagination.

Hannah McBride I think this movie was made in between character design changes. And Daisy at on point had blue eyes which were changed to black. You can kind of tell the design change in how Mickey and Minnie are drawn too between their story and the finale.

I guess it's the same way how Pete has darn brown fur and a rounded chin in Goofy's story, but black fur that's more messy and a big-chin that's flesh colored in Mickey's story.

Back when I was younger, I used to watch this all the time when it was on the Freeform channel, and I used to watch the heck out of it every year! But, years later, for some reason, they never aired it on that channel again. So, I turned to other channels, such as the Disney Jr channel (Hey, it was one of the only ways I could watch it on cable, plus back then, I never even thought of buying the DVD), but now, I can watch it on Disney+. But yeah, nice to look back at some old childhood memories.

As a little kid I was shown this movie a lot around the holidays and yeah, I'd say it has a pretty positive effect on me. I loved watching it and considering that the gift of the Magi segment was my intro to the story, it was a good telling and really made me feel the emotions the story wanted me to feel in a way that I probably wouldn't have felt if it wasn't Minnie and Mickey. Since it was characters I knew, it was more effective. But it's just my opinion. HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!

Merry Christmas!!!! and is it just me or should there be a movie where they straight up say that Santa doesn't exist? like even if he doesn't exist, that shouldn't let your christmas spirit go down? I think that kids could handle it with realizing that growing up isn't bad, and that the world might not be perfect but you make it perfect, you try.
