This is a song that has been played at 2 funerals I've attended and is such a nice celebration of life type song.

    About seeing this song live:
My father died unexpectedly. Instead of seeing the Flogging Molly concert together, I strung the beginning of "The likes of you again" and this song at his funeral. Several months later when they came back in town I went to see them and the Dropkick Murphey's at Penns Landing in Philly. I was in the crowed with my friends when the first few strings of If I Ever Leave This World Alive started. My two friends on either side immediately turned and threw their arms around me and held me while we all cried and sang along. Nearly 20yrs later my friends still think of me and my Dad when they hear it and cry.

This song was part of the soundtrack of the film P.S. I love you. The theme is about someone that's passed on and left his significant other to figure things out just like in the film where Holly( Hillary Swank ) is left to figure things out after her husband Gerry( Gerald Buttler)passes on leaving her letters to help her move on and go on with her life. Just a little nice detail that I thought was worth mentioning

I seen Flogging Molly live 8 times from late 90’s to about 2004. I remember one show where Dave King dedicated the song to a woman in the audience who had just lost her father. She requested it before the show. From that night on this song has hit different because of that. It can bring tears to my eyes, especially the line that begins “She says I’m okay, I’m alright, though you have gone from my life…”

US Navy SEAL “C4” Charles Keating was killed in action in Afghanistan and there’s a documentary on RUclips if his life . This song was their song so she had them put this song with video and photos of him and then and man. It hurts becasue it fits so exactly a warrior killed in action and a wife at home figuring it all out.

The lyrics sound familiar because you've probably had that conversation or said it to yourself. It's natural to relate. You guys are chill. Dig the channel.
