Amazing recording! 1950s? Would love more details. His style of playing belongs to a much later period in the early music revival, I think... And who else has reached such a level of refinement? Thanks for this wonderful upload.
I think this concerto sounds better on an alto, as played here, than on a sopranino, which I suppose is technically correct, and which is how you always hear it these days. I wonder if Vivaldi would have objected?
I doubt it. After all, it sounds good. We really are not certain exactly what instrument Vivaldi had in mind anyway. There is some evidence he actually a soprano recorder in mind.
@@warrencohen8246 I believe he wanted it to be played with the sopranino (in f). Though on the original manuscript he wrote himself that if not possible due to the lack of the sopranino recorder, the concerto could be transposed a fourth lower to be played with a soprano c recorder

@@leonardocilento786 Yes, it was his trademark. I suspect he sat like that because he could. If you are a student, your teacher will literally straighten you out, but if you can play at virtuoso level in such a slouchy position, nobody will object.
Thank you for this incredible video!
Excelente, grande Frans.
Wonderful!!

Wieso minderwertiges Orchester? Welches Orchester denn? Sie begleiten hier ausgezeichnet.
¡Realmente impresionante! Frans Brüggen y Hans Martin Linde son mis flautistas preferidos.
Wonderful sound and performance, as usual. Thanks for this wonderful performance by the greatest recorder player of all time ❤
Something well above virtuoso playing here! Totally beyond excellent! Thank you for providing this video!!!
Extraordinario...!!! Muchas gracias!!!
Frans Bruggen out of this Solar System!
Groot musicus.
Thanks!

Gets on stage, sits down, crosses legs..... Who else....

A grenadilla coolsma he plays i think.
Catchy tune
👏👏👏👌
I would like to know too…

Sounds good but it's an odd posture for a soloist
His customary posture!
@@RolandHutchinsonvery cool to know!!!

Not bad but I prefer Michala Petri.
