  • I've been taking tamoxifen for 1 year and half now and these are the side effects that I have experienced so far! Tamoxifen was prescribed because my breast cancer was hormonal, therefore taking an estrogen receptor reduces my chances of recurrence. The side effects seem scary, and sometimes it may seem like the risks outweigh the benefits. But in my case... I chose to take the medication. Read more at www.nalie.ca

I really appreciate you taking the time to do this video. Taking tamoxifen has been the scariest thing about having cancer to me. You pretty much answered all the questions I had, and it helps to see someone around my age living life after diagnosis.

I've been on tamoxifen for 2 years and have had terrible side effects - brutal fatigue, migraines and yes - major weight gain, despite working out 5x/wk, tracking my macros etc. So while, I love that not everyone has these side effects, just know that like cancer itself, everyone has a different experience and they are all equally valid.

Thank you for posting this! My oncologist emailed me this morning reminding me it's almost time to start Tamoxifen. I freaked out and restarted my research on this drug. So far all of my cancer treatments for my HER2+ breast cancer haven't been that bad but the thought of taking a drug for 10 years is scary. Thank you for adding some light on something not everyone understands !

Thank you, Nallie. You look great. I am happy to know that you made it through you got through it. I just started taking tamoxifen citrate three months ago after a partial mastectomy. I am in radiation now. My menstrual cycle has begun to end. I am 46 years old so I may be entering full menopause. My ovaries and uterus are showing signs of trouble. I am a stage 1 grade 2 IDC/DCIS breast cancer. I hope I will get a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction so that I can move on and not wait for my left breast to become cancerous or worse.

Thanks Nalie for making this vid. You look fab! I chose to take Tamoxifen because I want to keep fighting and stay alive for my loved ones. Some people told me to stop taking it as it may cause cancer in other parts of my body but I told them that's a risk worth taking. I believe if I do my part to go for regular check-ups with my gynecologist, I should be safe. Just like you, I trust my oncologist. I've only been taking Tamoxifen for 5 months but I do experience some of the side effects like hot flushes, mood swings, weight gain and I haven't had my period since I started taking it. I'll keep fighting to stay cancer free! xxx

I took tamoxifen and my period stopped. So it’s sudden menopause. I only took it for 3 years because I developed endometrial thickness which is a no no for me, since I was diagnosed first with precancerous cells in my endometrium. My Dr. substitute it with evista. I have no other choice other than tamoxifen because I had breast cancer premenopausal.

Please realize, even if people choose not to go this route with this particular drug, it doesn't mean they have chosen not to "fight"...every journey is an individual one and even those who choose other routes for their own personal battle are every bit justified as "fighters" as a person who chooses to use this particular drug...let's support each other and not just judge and label...we all need God regardless of what route we take in our personal cancer journey because in life we all need God. I chose NOT to take Tamoxifen and ended Taxol chemo early due to CIPN, blurry vision, constant nose bleeds and unbelievable fatigue. I did continue with the herceptin for a year. I over came the chemo induced neuropathy (CIPN) with the help of an integrated or functional MD through natural means.
No regrets and still cancer free two years later. I was triple positive. I am drug free and cancer free! I am a strict KETO eater. I ended eating sugar, refined, processed foods and junk foods. I have never felt better and no more brain fog!

Thank you for sharing your story. My doctor just prescribed tamoxiphen. He said if I have discharge to see the gyno. Ovarian cancer and blood clots are side effects. The crazy part is that after doing some research I learned that the fluoxetine inhibits tamoxifen my doctor didn’t even catch it at first until I brought to his nurse attention. I've been taking tamoxifen for about 1 mth plus. I'm experiencing nausea, hot flashes, anxiety & mood swing. those side effects really driving me crazy. whenever I eat I feel like vomiting and I always got panic attack. It's torturing. I can't do any daily task as my bc has spread to my bones. My vertebras fractured and I have to wead brace and use a rollator whenever I walk. Any tips to make those side effects go away. I'm seriously gonna go insane.

joey ee, Not sure if your still dealing with this but my bc has metastasized to my bones as well. extremely painful, couldnt walk or even move my legs. I was put on a lupron shot once every 3 months and ibrance which is an oral chemo and femara. This shrunk my tumors drastically. stay blessed

@@youdontknowmyname8835 , I did read that zinc may help you gain appetite but you would have to ask your doctor if it would conflict with other things you are taking.

#RIP Beautiful Nalie #2022... can't help but feel the deception of false hope watching her excitement at her then clear scans. Wonder if the tamoxifen caused her recurrence which tamoxifen does and/or can cause uterine cancer?! ✨🌹💐🕊️✨

I was on Anastrazole before which KILLED my libido. With Tamoxifen I am having sexual desire again. Thank God. The hot flashes are totally manageable. But can anyone share with me how it is affecting your skin? Facial, mostly. I am so much more oily. Anyone else?
