No one is saying it is wrong to take help from the parents. But please dont insult the phenomenon of "starting from scratch". People who actually started from SCRATCH saved up the down-payment themselves. And to save the amount that you possibly got from your parents for 2 houses (35% down-payment for the first house and 25% for second house so about 600 to 650k) would take someone atleast 7 to 10 years if they actually started from scratch. While there is no shame in taking help from parents but please always bear in mind that no, you did NOT start from scratch.
Secondly, when you quit your 9 to 5, you were certainly not in a financial pressure because I remember in that video you shared that you went for a $100 nails appointment the same day! Getting nails done is a luxury and certainly does not cross the mind of someone who is undergoing any kind of financial stress. So please do not insult people who actually go through financial struggles by using these terms losely. You have luckily not experienced the actual financial stress. Someone who is financially strained does not go to international destinations so frequently, does not book expensive air bnbs, does not go to super expensive concerts, does not shop from big brands, does not get 500k down-payment for 2 houses from parents, does not buy a brand new car, does not build a gym in basement. Yes you work hard, but you are no where close to being financially stressed! So the dilemma you faced when you quit your 9 to 5 is very different from someone who would face an actual financial dilemma while quitting their job. Your struggle and dilemma is purely choice based.

Notice how in the last video they mentioned they bought the new house ‘using their savings’. Conveniently left out their ‘savings’ was the money sent to them by their parents. Either own up to your privilege right away or stick to the ‘building life from scratch’ narrative.
Also I feel people who are congratulating pooja and saransh cannot relate to the economic crisis happening in Canada and are missing the point of why other subscribers are pissed.
Lastly, getting an inheritance in your early 30s helps you compound that money by investing it (or buying real estate and getting rent). Getting the same money when you are in your 50s is very different. Please acknowledge the privilege that your parents had the ability to liquidate such a huge amount and send it your way

Can’t help but call out the next level deflection and gaslighting happening here.
For almost 4 years these guys have been insisting that they are not taking any money from their parents. They did the whole drama when she quit her job, about how they were now managing their affluent lifestyle on his income (and her RUclips income which is probably negligible given how little she posts and stuck on the same number of subscribers).
Even when people called them out for going off to Spain after that move to Calgary video - they stuck to the story.
Now finally they come clean - but not before they mock people for questioning them, then defend the money they got from family saying “so what?”.
Nobody gives a damn about how much you got from family - what pisses people off is how you have misled them on multiple occasions. And now you turn around and talk down to the same subscribers for questioning your authenticity.
There’s a reason this channel hasn’t grown much in the last so many years, and gets the hate it does. People want to root for real people they can believe and relate to, not a couple of entitled brats who think they can keep fooling their subscribers for a few hundred views.

For all those people watching from India and thinking this is what life in Canada looks like it is completely false. The guy Saransh works as a Account Manager in Telus, the max he is making is 125k-150k per year which is not much even to buy a single townhouse in Canada. Also the youtube income with 125k subscribers and a video every 10-15 days is not much. Just as an example, I make 210k a year and still cannot afford to buy a townhouse here in Canada as the monthly payment will eat majority of the after tax income and life becomes miserable quickly. Good that these guys finally revealed the truth about the family help part but they are greatly downplaying it. Both their current townhouse and new one seems to be financed from their rich family background. They are not self made people by any means. Even I come from a rich family background but refuse to take any help from my dad as I cannot even fathom that thought as an adult. Canada is really a shitty place right now to buy any real estate as the incomes and the prices are way out of alignment. Things will come crashing down once Trudeau is gone and then people like this will suffer who bought into the mania.

First of all, i have been watching each of your videos for the past 3+ years ever since you came to Canada, I can say you can do much better than this with your content. Anyways, you guys are influencers, please understand how your audience is looking upto people like you. If this was shared earlier, none of your subscribers would have had negativity in their minds, you did mislead them by showing you did all by yourself and having parents support is not all by yourself. I am extremely happy for you guys and yes there is no shame in saying you had family support, then why so late? People felt cheated and disconnected when you kept saying you doing it yourself, and reality for almost everyone in Canada is very different. So moving forward hope you understand that disconnect before showcasing your life as a life of a normal immigrant, while you had normal day to day challenges that all immigrants go through here in Canada, you always had additional support and thats what others mostly dont have. People were wondering how did you do Aruba, Cancun, Tulum, Spain, Greece back to back, 2 houses, a car with a normal job that Saransh does and your RUclips channel. Most people here understand you can go very big with your professions but it takes time so there was a disconnect. There are still so many discrepancies in your story it’s hard to keep up! Guess it’s better to just take things said by you at face value and not really believe everything we see online. For example, in the video itself you said we put in our “hard earned” savings towards the down payment of the pre-con (15:58) and then literally in the next line you went on to say that a major chunk of the down payment was through family support. Like do you see how contradicting it is!
Similarly, not once have you ever mentioned that you CAME to Canada with HUGE financial support. Instead, you portrayed that you went to India in 2021-2022 (I.e after you moved to Canada), sold some property in Chandigarh & then put that money towards the down payment of your Oakville home. You see the confusion & your stories not aligning.
See, I’m not one for putting down anyone’s job or career, that’s tacky and absolutely disgusting. So shame on those who’re doing that. However, I’m also not for people who don’t tell the complete truth right from the beginning.
Also, now that you mentioned that you bought the houses almost only 3 months apart, in my opinion, that’s one of the most risky & hasty financial decisions I’ve ever seen. Seems like you didn’t do proper research of the Canadian housing market. I myself remember in 2022 the news & most trend analysts predicted that the interest rates will most likely GO UP - so idk in which world you’re living and pretending that you didn’t see this coming.
PS: you said that the interest rates now are the highest ever. That’s in fact false! In the 80’s Canadas interest rates went up to approximately 21% (just a fun fact lol)
Pooja, when you decide to put something on social media, it’s always better to give the entire picture right from the beginning instead of making these videos afterwards, “explaining” your side! Good luck to you & I hope you yourself learn from your mistakes!

You clearly didn’t understand what he was saying.
The required down payment for a house is 20%. He said a major chunk of it was from his parents (20%). Due to rising interest rates, an additional 5% down payment was required to close the home due to the banks only giving 75% for the mortgage. This came from their savings. He even said in the video the total “down payment” they paid was 25%
He openly admits his parents paid a large chunk & to save & put down 5% on a new home is still a lot of money to save with 9-5 jobs in Canada.
You should learn to not be so invested in people’s lives & criticize them especially when they’re being transparent that they got help from their parents.

Lastly, you can't say you built it from the scratch when you started your housing journey at the helm of your parents paying for the main $$. Taking care of a mortgage after is no different than the $3,000+ rentals in downtown.
You have a safety net of your parents and yes, that's nothing to be ashamed about. However, you can't be stating it's your life style and vblog on that and then misrepresent your hardships over owning properties when they are not comparable to the average Canadian.

I felt disconnected and dishonesty because there was some videos i have seen where she mention about her first house and so much expenses and all. Again there are many vacations, airbnbs, restaurants, nails and etc. until today we didn’t know that they are getting help from parents ( not a bad thing at all) but we got confused until today.

Thanks for clarifying Pooja and Saransh! What we wanted was authenticity. We wanted the clarity that you had help from family (which is absolutely fine because we all are privileged in some ways) I think people were just concerned that how do new, middle class Indian immigrants directly start buying houses purely from working 9-5 jobs because in a place like Canada, expenses and taxes do leave very limited room for savings for almost anybody. You owned your privilege very well. Even if people mock or judge you now, it’s a big “so what? What our parents left for us is still ours”

Good that you guys have finally clarified. Otherwise those who all are planning to move to Canada will move there with wrong expectations. You guys are lucky enough to have such supportive parents. But please be real. Having two town houses in Canada in 3 years of moving that too in a city like Toronto, going for expensive trips, spening 6K CAD for an unplanned trips to India isn't a reality for many even after extreme hardwork if there is no support from your family. I am leaving a comment because in of your video you have completely denied that fact that you have got support from your parents to purchase the Oakvile town house.

I think you should have made a huge down payment, I don’t see any other way you can afford to get a mortgage at 2 places even if your salaries are good. Try to understand people with decent salaries are struggling to buy their 1st place and people you make it look like it’s easily settle in Canada although you say it’s wasn’t easy for you. So yes, they have achieved something in life. It’s disrespectful when you see people say they struggled and started from scratch and didn’t take any money from parents only to find out that they took money for not only one but two Downpayments. It is okay to take money but why lie before? In previous video she said about her oakville home that they didn’t take any money. That’s the reason people are upset.

And this right here is what is wrong with these people. They live in the dreams being supported on parents money and keep saying hard work hard work. They have no idea what hard work is. When they first got their first house they pretended and lied about support from parents they said they had property in India which they sold. Now when everyone can see their lies and they can’t lie about it more they are saying ya we had support for down payment. But look at their audacity they say that oh how is it any different we just got it lump sum early on rather than later. Dude not everyone has parents who can either give so much money early on or even later. But how will you understand this because you are so far from the struggling immigrants. I do not give any …. What you do with your parents money but you then try to make videos pretending to struggling working class immigrants like us to get the views from majority. You are as corrrupt and immoral as politician playing vote bank politics…. Just stop doing the drama and make high lifestyle video and travel and be real for once.

Lot of people are coming here to close the loan back home and support their parents/ family financially. I know it’s very difficult for you to understand these kind of financial situation. It’s not wrong what you are doing, but since this is a public forum, many can’t lead a life like you here. This is reality for most of us here in canada who earn even 150k. That’s the whole point. People who are buying home here, they will not even do any expenses towards restaurants. I am also one of the person, no restaurant trip, no vacation, no dress shopping (basically no shopping other than groceries). Going to near by lake or park is our vacation😢 if you are sacrifice these many things, with 150k you can afford house that too outside of the GTA. But appreciating you, even if you can get money from your parents, you didn’t buy car when you are in downtown, always use public transportation.

This is unbelievable!! Maybe or maybe not I would be able to relate, however I was born and raised in Canada and over the past few years there has been an influx of immigrants from India. Most from middle income families looking to make a better life for themselves and their families. Life in Canada has definitely got tougher, the fittest survive! Many Indians/Couples have started their RUclips Lifestyle Journey, and while you expose yourself to this type of vulnerability, it’s also important you paint a true picture, because many people look to your videos for inspiration, motivation and learning. Apart from the money you make you have been handed a very important role in society and that in itself is a BIG DEAL! Not everyone has it in them to do that. We would otherwise all be RUclipsrs and Influencers, wouldn’t we? Please hold that torch wisely! Whether it’s your money or your parents money does not matter, nor should you ever have to explain that to anyone! Do good, make it real and best of luck!!

    1. I have to say that if you are putting your life out or portions of your life out there for the public then you also have to be prepared for the negativity that comes alongside it. There's no way around it and even Oprah Winfrey had faced a lot of this. This is your time to grow the thick skin as you move into the next phase of your life in terms of success. You will both be tested on this and I hope you pass this with flying colors as you have each other to support emotionally.
    2. There is absolutely nothing wrong in asking parents for help or if they would like to help you out. What people are trying to refer to you as that you're not a Rags to Riches story. However what you should be doing is taking what you've gotten from your parents and making it 100 times better than they gave to you.
Wishing you both the best in the coming new year!

I don't get it. Like young people in India didn't get help from mummy & daddy to pay for their first houses or apartments! Most people I know have something or the other from their parents. My older sister & brother in law, were given an apartment which my dad was giving out for rent for a few years, when they got married. Its expected as my dad's business was doing well and he also worked for almost 3 decades in Kuwait. And this helped them to save and build a house of their own as well, which they have been renting out.
And unfortunately his business went into major loss otherwise I too would have got my own place by my parents. And it's ok, I'm a bachelor and I don't need much. I take care of my parents and my sister helps us out too. It's all in the family!

    • @easyveganfoodie
      @easyveganfoodie 10 месяцев назад

I think it is different when you talk about buying in India. It’s very small percentage of people whose parents make enough money in India to help them buy two houses in Canada. That’s a huge sum of money when you compare to Indian rupees. And okay, even then it’s fine. The problem is not that they help but the fact that before in another video she said they didn’t get any money from parents for their first home and now she is saying that they got money for not only one house but two. It’s not okay to lie, that’s the main reason people are upset. If your sister told everyone that she bought that apartment on her own and no help from family wouldn’t it be disrespectful to people that earn just as much as her and her husband and are unable to understand how this is possible? At least don’t say you started from scratch and struggled when you didn’t.

I was shocked seeing those comments on your previous video, I have been following your channel for a lot of years now and I absolutely adore you guys. Congratulations to both of you on another house, it is a great accomplishment in Canada. Hopefully, everything will be better with time and hopefully this year the interest rate will go down again but what matters is that you guys learnt from the experience and are sharing that with your audience too. Keep doing the great work!!

What's going on peekapoo? Missed your videos for a couple of weeks due to tight schedule. Let me watch all of these. I am so curious right now

I did left my 8-to-5 seven years ago, and I am making the triple I was doing. For this I am thankful to God.

Congratulations Pooja! No matter what you do, please will judge you. You guys are so transparent on this channel, I felt that when we met you guys a couple of months ago!

It has become Peaka-poop channel. Omg you got flak for so many discrepancies in your story NOT for just the previous video but about your ALL videos from starting. You manipulated us the people scratching our head that how in the earth they bought house so early.

Congratulations u two, it’s time to celebrate the occasion 🥳!!! Even if their parents gave them money, it’s their money, it’s their decision and I don’t think they are unhappy about that it’s their family decision ….. parents do that all the time it doesn’t matter to them that you are grown ups now….. if they have spare money they wil try to give it to their children….. that’s why parents are parents and nobody else are like parents …..

Only love and support to u guys. Many people take the education pathway to settle abroad and the funds required for that is exorbitantly high, of course parents fund that through various modes. But all in all you need not justify your private life on YT. People who wish well and love your content will stay no matter what!
    Happy New Year Guys❤🤗
And looking forward for some great content ☺️

A little better study of the market would have told you to fix the interest rate (instead of variable) as soon as it started going up. Ppl knew rates will NOT be as low as they were for 2020-2022. May be you just took a decision without thinking at all.
