    Current condition ....
    1.Lectures was held by clg with the help of Google meet
    2. My exams after 4 days
    3. mass spectroscopy completed in 5 hours
    4.uv is about to complete in 1 hour...
    Conclusion: person teaching in video is guardian Angel for many of students in this lockdown period...

    if CH3 group added in pyridine causes increase in Emax then why addition of CH3 in biphenyl causes decrease in Emax???

      For hyper chromic its adding of auxochrome ....And for hypochromic it's adding of group which distort geometry of molecule ..

    When in DiBenzene, CH3 is added; shouldn't the wavelength shift towards red side? Because Chromophore has been added?

      No in case of dibenzene methyl group doesn't act as a chromophore it distorts the geometry of dibenzene that leads to its hypochromic shift.

    Why hypercromic shift in aniline but hypochomic shift in dibenzene when in both -CH3 are added?

      It is due to the distortion caused by the methyl group that in case of biphenyl hypochromic shift is observed and in case of aniline CH3 only acts as a chromophore that leads to its hyperchromic shift.
