One of the pleasures of gardening is sharing. I love how Pamela contacted you and shared her Irises. One of my garden beds is designated as a friendship garden - a variety of plants from friends. I smile each time I see the plants and think of the friends who shared.
So true! In my Midwest garden (5b), I also have a large Friendship Garden bed. All of the perennials are gifts from the gardens of sweet friends. Irises are a very special part of my Friendship Garden, too! Janey, it will feel so heartwarming each time you pass by your new Iris garden as you come and go! Thank you so much for introducing us to Pamela. It will be such fun to follow Flower Patch Farmhouse!🍃🌸🍃
Awwww that is such a nice story! And I agree…. Sharing is half the fun! I find myself putting seeds in envelopes then dropping them over the fence for my neighbors. Haha Liz
I can’t believe how much that area of your property has changed!! How generous of her time and bounty of Iris rhizomes! I learned so much from this video. Thank you That corner is going to be stunning!!!
Good Morning ☀️ 6am here in Florida. It takes me about 8 minutes to make coffee feed and water my 2 dogs. 6:08 and now I watch your sweet video Thank you for being consistent. Big Hug from Florida ☀️😊🌴🌈🏡🤗
I love Pamela and her channel! It was so fun to see a couple of my favorite RUclipsrs together on one channel. Can't wait to see these irises bloom for you, Janey. Pam's iris garden is certainly an inspiration.
I watch Pamela all the time, love her too. What a sweet thing to do, gardeners love to share. Look forward to breakfast and your videos every morning. So much progress already and your romantic farm is coming along. Thanks for sharing your journey with us. Sending blessing your way.
I'm so inspired! Grandma grew giant bearded iris and they are just so amazing! I am happily planning/planting my native California garden but with the water saved there I'm putting in IRIS! Thank you, Janey! Thank you, Pamela! [not that they are very thirsty, no]
Good morning from North East, Maryland. It’s 5:30 am . I lived in Idaho falls, Idaho and yes it’s a beautiful state. My military family life took us all over this great country. It’s awesome to see other gardeners help with information on these flowers. Thank you.
Janey, I just love your videos! How fun to get all these beautiful Iris! It is just a treat to watch you visit with other bloggers. You are so personable, and I bet this helps their channels too. You are just so friendly!
I love iris. Your bed is going to be gorgeous. My love started when my Grandpa gave me a star from his for my first home. I brought a start for the home I live in now.
I'm up early also in Houston w/coffee and computer on the sofa ready for your video. What a great way to start my day. Loved the video and loved the place you put them. Thank you also for having a video each morning. Makes my day. I will get in my garden again today! We, I think, have survived this horrible hot summer.
I love irises...they are gorgeous tough as nails and they get better with age...few perennials really compare and their blooms are orchid-like. The colour range is unmatched. Schreiner's divisions are HUGE!!!❤
Can’t wait to see what this area looks like next spring! I live 25 minutes from Pamela and I am a beginner gardener in zone 9b. You are right, California has such a diverse gardening area! Love to hear the laughter of two hard working ladies!
Wow! Loved this episode and meeting Pamela....just subscribed to her youtube channel, thanks to you! I never would have believed Iris could look so beautiful and now want them myself! I find myself everyday thinking about getting home after work to see what you've done that day on your new property! Way to go!
My favorite Iris right now is my variegated iris with purple blooms. The white and green foliage is striking and amazing all summer long even without the blooms. They are a must have in the garden.
I just revamped one of my garden beds in my backyard, ,and I had to move my iris'. I moved them to the front curtain of my yard (between the street and the sidewalk). I transplanted about 20. I thought I would have room for more flowers to plant up there, but because I have so many iris', I don't have to plant anything else.
I love irises! In fact, I walked down the aisle with a bouquet of blue irises. I didn't want the conventional white bouquet. Years ago I had tons of irises and when it was time to divide them I shared them with a friend so she could line her garden walkway with them for her daughters wedding. It looked beautiful. Now I don't have many irises because the gophers are eating them. Luckily, she has so many that she was to divide them and she'll give them back to me. I'll be planting them in gopher cages (which I hate the look of) but I'll have my irises again.
I have been collecting from Schreiners for years! This year I received 33 new ones for a gift all planted. And Two blossomed ! Can’t wait until Spring!
Pamela is great!! Real, deal gardener! Glad she mentioned Schreiners--my first irises came from them. Any irises hybridized by Joe Ghio (from Santa Cruz) are great, too. What a beautiful spot for the irises--wow, what a great display you'll have next year! I have a few new irises to plant in my San Francisco garden--backs exposed! Planting "Florentine Silk", "Best Bet", "Jurassic Park", "Skyfire", "Victoria Falls", and "Concertina". I have sandy loam, and they love it. Janey, I bet you can hardly wait for your garden to start growing!
My in-laws lived in Colorado and propagated their irises in their own raised iris beds. They actually pain stakenly created their own hybrids and named certain colors and species after family members. Some of the irises are planted nation wide now to family members. Your video brought back great memories of them. Thank you! I love watching your channel by the way. My husband and I are full-time rvers and I don't have the opportunity to have a flower or vegetable garden. I just have a fairy garden that I enjoy
This is SO informative! I've never planted irises, but now that I have a new home with lots of property I'm starting to create flower beds and really want to add Irises. I'm saving this video and will probably watch it a number of times lol. Thank you!!
I live in Salem Oregon, so it was nice to have the reference to Schreiner’s Iris Gardens. They have a beautiful display garden each year and I have several of their plants in my garden. Pamela’s generous contribution will make for a beautiful addition to your space.
Someone else mentioned Schreiner's so I was familiar with their website. Good to know not to get my hopes up if a variety claims to rebloom. I live in Minnesota. Fat chance for mine to rebloom.
I'm learning so much from. Watching your videos, I never miss them , look for them every morning anxious to see what you will do next ... I live in far northern CA the same zone as you so it's very helpful, thanks so much.
How sweet of her! I’m going to check out her channel! Can’t wait to see them bloom for you in the spring. How exciting! Thanks for taking us along on your journey. ❤
OMG! Your timing is perfect. I’ve never planted iris, and I have a bag full of them from Apple Hill to plant in my Folsom garden. Thank you both so much for the great information about when and how to plant.
How generous of Pamela to share her irises and knowledge! I’m thinking of planting some now that I know they’re easy to grow. I’ll be planting tulips and daffodils for the first time, and I read it’s good to add bone meal to the hole when planting tulips. But now that Pamela said it attracts ground squirrels, I’m not sure what to do. 🤷🏻♀️ I too live in the country with ground squirrels & rabbits.
Enjoyed this video as always. I'm excited to watch as you continue designing and planting all your new garden beds. I'm sure you have thought about this but what about painting your iris bed planter and benches the same slate color as the fence? I have a 3 acre property in the mountains of NC that we have been designing and planting over the past 4 years and it is so exciting and satisfying. Thank you for sharing your adventure.
That will be a beautiful addition to your garden! Can't wait to see updates once they get started. I used to have purple bearded iris.....variety unknown since they were here when I moved in. I ended up removing them because they kept falling over. I tried thinning them, but they just all seemed weak and since I'm no expert I didn't know how to fix it. I did keep all the dwarf iris on this property. They are also purple and I absolutely love them! They stay upright and when blooms are done, they leave behind some beautiful spiky foliage that looks great growing beneath my native wisteria/trellis.
Just got my hoedag/mattock and used it for the 1st time today. Planted 18 hostas under a willow that was full of Bishops Weed and Phlox roots. My new favorite tool! Thanks for showing and recommending it!
Such a nice thing to do, I think we gardeners just can't help ourselves. I have iris my mom planted in the late 80's, the tree by them has grown and put too much shade on them. I have one that smells like grape juice. I'm removing branches to open it up, they did so well there, I hate to move them from where mom wanted them.
I'm so happy you posted this video. I had some iris from my husband's grandmother's garden. I didn't know about shading the back in intense sun. That explains why mine burned. I'll know for next time.
That’s so awesome what a great community you are creating Jenny I have subscribe to her channel. I’m so excited I love it love it. I was watching sunshine and Flora and she talked about Shriners I think so I just grab some. I have a 23 rolled up oldest wants a rainbow and ROZES down the driveway and I explained that there’s no green or real blue, so can I do other flowers, these are going to be it
I live in a hot zone as well, my bearded iris' were not blooming...when I heard 'they like sun on their backs' I went and removed the layer of soil over their rhizome and they bloomed almost instantaneously
Glad the irises made it OK. I will have to keep an eye out for the root beer iris😊 as the hubby liked that one as well as me. Adding some yellow and white ones this year to the mix.
I like that front garden bed. You haven't shared what you're thinking of doing there, but I like the suggestion of an arbor over the benches and painting it all to match the fence. I figure why remove something if it can be tweaked to be beautiful, and useful, and save some money in the process? (The boulders just need to be lowered into the ground a little, so they look like they belong there.) What are the plants you left alone? Maybe lavender? Can't see well enough to tell. Looking forward to seeing all your irises bloom and all those bulbs you bought! Spring in your garden will be magnificent!

I LOVE that idea of a Friendship garden, I so need to find a spot to start one! Thank you so much for the inspiration.
What a wonderful idea!
Awwww that is such a nice story! And I agree…. Sharing is half the fun! I find myself putting seeds in envelopes then dropping them over the fence for my neighbors. Haha Liz
What a sweet and generous woman to bring you the Iris Rhizomes and help you plant them. I hope you had a wonderful lunch.. 🌸🌼🌻
I was thinking the same thing Betty! Thats a great friend!!! Liz
Pamela has a beautiful garden. Bearded irises are a strong childhood memory for me. My mom grew them. I look forward to seeing your new irises grow.
She is so kind in her way of offering up knowledge. “Can I offer up a clue?” Haha. I love it! Definitely a skill ❤
your videos are how I start my day and i have to say, your channel is such a joy!
I can’t wait to see them bloom. I love irises and have a collection too.
I can’t believe how much that area of your property has changed!! How generous of her time and bounty of Iris rhizomes! I learned so much from this video. Thank you That corner is going to be stunning!!!
Janey, how special to have made so many gardening friends! Thank you for sharing their expertise with us.💖
Good Morning ☀️

I too watch Janeys videos in the morning with my tea! Its a perfect way to start out my morning! ❤️👍🥰Liz
I've been following Flower Patch Farmhouse on you tube for years. How nice of her to bring you an iris haul. Gardeners are the best!
I inherited several irises when I moved to this home. So glad I now understand more about dividing them. It’s going to be a beautiful spring!
Oooo! An Iris swoop!
What a lovely share from Pamela. I love watching her channel too. What a fun afternoon of planting! 🌱🌱🌱🌱💕
Oh they’re going to look gorgeous Janey 🥰 Thank You Pamela and enjoy lunch together xx
The Iris transforms that tired looking space, can't wait till it blooms.
I love that bed area and the benches on the other side of it. You should put arbors over the benches and plant something climbing over them.
I love Pamela and her channel! It was so fun to see a couple of my favorite RUclipsrs together on one channel. Can't wait to see these irises bloom for you, Janey. Pam's iris garden is certainly an inspiration.
I love when friends come over with some free plants. Can't wait to see the show.
I watch Pamela all the time, love her too. What a sweet thing to do, gardeners love to share. Look forward to breakfast and your videos every morning. So much progress already and your romantic farm is coming along. Thanks for sharing your journey with us. Sending blessing your way.

Truly a plant that keeps giving. Thank you.
I love irises! The ones growing in my pond did much better than the ones growing in ground. Thanks for sharing!
Love Iris's and looking forward to when yours are in bloom. Extra special that Pamela shared hers with you.
Good morning from North East, Maryland. It’s 5:30 am . I lived in Idaho falls, Idaho and yes it’s a beautiful state. My military family life took us all over this great country. It’s awesome to see other gardeners help with information on these flowers. Thank you.
Love the connections you make! Dual benefit. That’s what gardening is all about. ❤
Fragrance in the garden is like salt in the soup.
Saw the thumbnail and was so excited! Love her and her garden SO much!
Janey, I just love your videos! How fun to get all these beautiful Iris! It is just a treat to watch you visit with other bloggers. You are so personable, and I bet this helps their channels too. You are just so friendly!
OMG!!! It’s sooo gorgeous Pamela Bearded Irises!!!
I want some Bearded Irises, pleaseee!
Can someone help meee!!!❤
I love iris. Your bed is going to be gorgeous. My love started when my Grandpa gave me a star from his for my first home. I brought a start for the home I live in now.
What a fun collaboration. Looking forward to seeing them in bloom.
I'm up early also in Houston w/coffee and computer on the sofa ready for your video. What a great way to start my day. Loved the video and loved the place you put them. Thank you also for having a video each morning. Makes my day. I will get in my garden again today! We, I think, have survived this horrible hot summer.
Sharing is how I have gotten some of my favorite hardy plants. I learned so much about iris through this video. Rhizomes always make me think twice.
I ordered that tool from Duluth and got 10% off and free shipping. Good deal.
Janey, I love the raise bed for the iris collection you will have. I don’t think you will take it out once you fill it with beautiful plants
I would definitely keep this garden bed. Makes such a pretty sight when entering your property 👍🏻🌺🌸🌼🌻
I love irises...they are gorgeous tough as nails and they get better with age...few perennials really compare and their blooms are orchid-like. The colour range is unmatched. Schreiner's divisions are HUGE!!!❤
That is so sweet of her to share with you! Her garden is beautiful, I will be heading over to her channel after watching this video 🤍
Thanks for the bone meal caution tip. bcoz this year I had lot of ground squirrel issue this year
Can’t wait to see what this area looks like next spring! I live 25 minutes from Pamela and I am a beginner gardener in zone 9b. You are right, California has such a diverse gardening area! Love to hear the laughter of two hard working ladies!
I love, love, love bearded iris!
I was just gifted some iris's from my neighbor and got them planted. Excited to share mine with everyone next year.
Wow! Loved this episode and meeting Pamela....just subscribed to her youtube channel, thanks to you! I never would have believed Iris could look so beautiful and now want them myself! I find myself everyday thinking about getting home after work to see what you've done that day on your new property! Way to go!
I like the spot you planted them, you can see it from the house and when you pull into your drive… I think I need to give my iris more attention.
Hi Janey 🌺. Very cool Irises . They looks so beautiful in her garden also in your garden they will be so pretty . Have awonderful day . 🌺🌻🌺
My favorite Iris right now is my variegated iris with purple blooms. The white and green foliage is striking and amazing all summer long even without the blooms. They are a must have in the garden.
I am going to Home Depot or Lowe’s to purchase bearded iris today! So exciting!
Plant friends are the BEST! So informative! Looking forward to seeing these bloom.

❤❤❤❤❤❤ so fun to see you together. Love iris.
Wow what a great video two of my favorite gardeners! I just bough5 some iris hopefully they do well👍😎❤️

I have a newfound love for irises as they are easy to tuck in since they grow tall, just make sure the space isn’t too tight.
What a great tool! I will need to add that to my wish list for sure. Thanks for sharing.
Did I tell you how much I love your channel ? 😃😊😃. So many great informations and inspirations. I am in the Southern California zone 10a
I'm learning so much from. Watching your videos, I never miss them , look for them every morning anxious to see what you will do next ... I live in far northern CA the same zone as you so it's very helpful, thanks so much.
I'm so glad you guys collaborated! I watch Pamela all the time. I enjoy her channel.
So excited to learn about Suttons! Thank you!

I didn't know iris have fragrance 😮
Arnold!! My dad, uncles and grandpa built houses there!! Small world.

I’m jealous, I want some divisions! Buying iris online seems so expensive
I went and subscribed to Pamela's channel!! Thanks for sharing!

Going to be beautiful.
That will be a beautiful addition to your garden! Can't wait to see updates once they get started. I used to have purple bearded iris.....variety unknown since they were here when I moved in. Wow! Such a nice gift! I can’t wait to see them bloom. That will be BEAUTIFUL!
Just got my hoedag/mattock and used it for the 1st time today.
Planted 18 hostas under a willow that was full of Bishops Weed and Phlox roots.
My new favorite tool!
Thanks for showing and recommending it!
So sweet I love Irises. I'm zone 8a Texas wow. It's gonna be GORGEOUS 🌻
Loved this!!! Great information!!
It’s my first year planting irises, just got them in the ground three days ago! I can’t wait to see them grow.
I am a huge fan of bearded irises. The beauty they bring into the gaeden is amazing. I love mine! Enjoy!
Can’t wait to see the show in the spring! It’s going to be spectacular!
Glad the irises made it OK.
I will have to keep an eye out for the root beer iris😊 as the hubby liked that one as well as me. Adding some yellow and white ones this year to the mix.
I love these! In my zone 6B, I can just lay them on the ground and they grow!
I wish I had someone to swap Iris varieties with. 🍁🍂🍁💚🙃
My favorite flower. The colors are magnificent in late May for me.
Hi, when we moved in my home the garden was none existent and the soil was dry and full of rocks, my soil is mostly clay so you can imagine, we got this tools in order to get the fence done and use it still for planting even though my soil has improved so much more, the Post Hole Digger and Pick Mattock
What a great idea for this area. Love your sense of design and order. I watch every day.
Thank you so much for this video. I now know how to replant my irises
So much fun
Thank you so much to you and your dear friend. I love irises, but have always found them hard to take care of because of the crowding situation and how they take over the garden now I’ve learned how to do it correctly and give them the care and love things. I love your channel. I’m so glad I found you.
My mother-in-law started me on bearded Iris, she had some that smelled like grapes. I was dividing some one year and couldn’t figure out what I wanted to do with them, they laid on the ground and I forgot about them, well they rooted in now I have another patch ! One thing about Iris is that they do LOVE to multiply. You can never have too many is my thinking. 🍁🍂🍁💚🙃
This was so helpful. I planted Iris’ a few weeks ago (too low) and the rain was saturating them. I’m going to build a dirt mound and adjust them. ❤
