    Thank you so much for making this video! I was stranded in Bryce Canyon NP and luckily had service to research the issue. Your video helped me get my car on the road again. Not all heroes wear capes

    Hey, man... thanks for the video. Got stranded in a grocery store parking lot, with trans in R, unable to start. Different model year Fusion, harder to reach, and not broken linkage (I don't think) just slipped off.
    Anyway, your video helped me find and I'm good now. Was worried that I would have to rent a car (and get this one towed) to pick up girlfriend at the airport tomorrow.
    Instead, I'm good. Thanks to you. Much appreciated, dude...

      I am glad this worked out! I see you posted this comment 8 months ago and I am wondering if the issue has resurfaced for you? Any info would be appreciated.

      Did you buy the cable as well? If not what size grommet did you get? I have a 2013 Ford Escape!

      @@saidohassan367 it was over 3 years ago I'm not sure anymore. But there was a recall about a month after that went into effect and the company ended up fixing it professionally afterwards.

      Thanks for responding so quickly! Was it running fine prior to the recall? Where did you get your grommet from?

      @@saidohassan367 it got stuck in reverse and would only park. I believe I just went to a few auto shops and picked out whatever I felt would fit. And one did and stayed on

    This morning I got stuck at work with this problem, but my car was stuck in N, not R. I was able to re-connect the cable myself, but it keeps coming undone (came undone while parking my car at lunch, came undone again while parking my car when returning from lunch. I will most likely go to an auto parts shop and buy the replacement bushing/grommit. This video helped!

      Dorman part 14057 costs 15 dollars at AutoZone 2 orange pieces and you'll need a c-clamp to press ir on.

    FIXED. My vehicle is a 2014 Ford Escape. Stranded after a high school football game with this bushing issue. Towed to dealer. The next day there was a recall notice in the mail. Dealer said, "The recall notice is a notification that we'll receive the actual recall notice in the future telling us to come in to fix. " The recall bushing kit was NOT available yet. Dealer said my only option was to pay $660 to replace the entire shift cable. Then when I receive the next recall letter I can request a refund from Ford who may or may not refund my money. I said, thanks, but I'll work it out. I went to a different Ford dealer, bought the actual Ford OEM shift cable ($45) and removed the bushing from the actual Ford part. The Escape was still sitting in the Ford dealer parking lot. I just reached down in to the top of the engine blind. I popped the bushing into the shift cable and pushed it back on to it's post by just feeling my way. It took less than 10 seconds. Weird that it was so easy. Replaced with the actual Ford bushing so fit was not an issue. Didn't just save me $660, it saved me $35,000, as my wife so mad she was threatening to buy a new car!

    When it was stuck in reverse how did you move the cable to be able and put the new bushing in?

    • @cookiedogg1
      @cookiedogg1  4 года назад

      Had to lightly tap in the new bushing, add the glue, let it set for an hour.
      If you're stuck in reverse and not at home, have to manually move the mechanism in the engine bay.

    We're stranded at midnight after a football game because of this issue. After some googling I discovered that Ford has finally issued a recall to update this bushing so this doesn't happen... BUT I can't see how that'll help us if we can't drive it to the dealer to be fixed. Looks like I'm going to have to Ricky-Rig it.

      Towed to dealer. Dealer wanted $650 to fix. I fixed it for free myself.
