I pulled into a gas station and when i returned i was able to move my shift lever but the gears would not shift .i searched for an answer and found the video about the white shifter release which was no help .i then after alot of frustration found this video and was driving home whithin 10 mins thank you so much .ps.the part is the shufter linkage bushing.
Thank you so much. You helped me get my daughter home safe. Had no idea how to help her. Pulled up this video and mins later she was on her way. Thank you again.
I was stuck at a Walmart parking lot, Your video helped me and practically saved me. It was freezing with the cold front , 2 videos deep, 3rd time was a charm with your video. Got outta there and home safely and repairing it now. Thanks a million
Video was also Perfect length and to the point, showed the right amount of detail, I wasn’t able to “see” where I was grabbing exactly but knew what to feel around for based off what you showed Thanks again
Had this issue and found that the bushing is a fairly common part for most Ford models and seems to be readily available at the Ford dealership. When I went to get one the parts manager knew exactly what I needed without even looking it up. The bushing cost me $1.15 and took about 30 minutes to replace from start to finish. On the 2013 Ford Escape you will have to remove the air filter box and hoses to get to the transmission lever, but all in all not that difficult. Thanks for the video, it cut down my repair time not having to search for the shifter lever... that thing could have been a challenge to find.
I also have a 2013 Ford Escape and this happened to me 🤦♂️. The bushing is still attached but won't stay on that nipple. Question did you have to take out the old bushing and if so was that difficult? The Ford dealership is saying they don't sell the bushing by itself that I would have to buy the whole linkage cable 🤦♂️
@@AndrewCarrranza how did you fix the problem mine is the same exactly, the thing still attached but it stuck on P and I have a dashboard message say “ transmission not in park “
@@EARTHKEENING I was able to attach the linkage cable back on by reaching my hand in and popping it back on. It felt real loose but I was able to put the car in gear. I drove the car home and parked it till I did more research on how to fix it. I found a video and an article on which part to buy, the dealership said I had to buy the whole lever which would've been like $150 $750 to have them put it on. The Ford dealership had the 2 parts that the article recommended. Cost me $20 in parts and a couple hours to fix. It would've taken 30 minutes but I dropped the bushing while trying to pop in in. I took the old bushing out with needle nose pliers. If you're lucky that's all the tools you'll need, I needed a ratchet set because when the bushing fell it went under the air intake. Thank you!!!! I was so screwed until I found your video. I was literally stuck at the bank teller window and cars were behind me honking. It was bad. Ford should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for the 2014 Escape all the way around. I’ve had so many stupid little things like this happen. Thank you again for this video!!!!
You are a lifesaver! My 2015 Ford Escape got stuck in reverse on a narrow City street in the middle of a city wide garage sale day. The trick of unlocking the gear shift up by it didn't work so I searched RUclips found yours and it worked perfectly! Thank you so very much❤❤
Thank you for your informative video. I have a 2016 Connect. Traveling to the Jersey shore, stopped at Wawa for gas, shifter disconnected while getting gas. Panicked, call AAA, while waiting googled seeing your video. Yes, I thought it was the shifter! Popped the hood, just as you said, the cable disconnected from the trans lever. Saved the towing and repair cost, yet more importantly, we’re on our way to the Jersey shore for the Memorial Day weekend. Thanks again for the video!!!
Thanks for the video. My 2013 Ford Escape had this same problem. I was able to call the fords part department at my local dealership and get the bushing and a white cap that goes over the assembly once you put the bushing on and then the rod back onto the bushing.
