For an Eternal format video, you forgot that "Not Dead After All" is a huge Pauper upgrade too! There is a T2.5-T3 list for Black Sac and it is essentially a black (sometimes rakdos) burn deck, so that 1 extra damage is EXTREMELY relevant! Just thought I'd point this missed part out.
Seth said on stream he doesn't make content for formats he doesn't play. He doesn't want to misrepresent formats and make conjecture on formats he knows less about. It's s minor upgrade for modern Rakdos scam but it's minor there.
@@TheMegaMagikarp Well, I get that entirely. But if a common is playing in other formats, it's usually good enough to be played in Pauper. So I think it would be worth mentioning even if he didn't make a specific comment/list for us.
Standard is definitely going to use Beseech the Mirror just as extra copies of Sheoldred. Black-White control is already a solid deck in the format that can fairly easily get to the BBB requirement on turn 4, and having a token in play from Wedding Announcement on turn 3 is very common, meaning this is either Depopulate, Lilliana of the Veil, Sheoldred the Apocalypse, just another Wedding Announcement, The Wandering Emperor, Restoration of Eiganjo, Seal Away, Ossification, spot removal - just whatever tool you need in the situation. It gets just about every relevant card in the deck, so I feel like there's no way it DOESN'T see play there. It's practically a 4-mana Bring to Light for black-heavy decks.
@@josht2136 it lets you run your important legends as 2-ofs in the deck, while having 6 ways to access them, and there are enough relevant targets, as I said, that it's basically never dead. Also, Sheoldred is important enough to stick on the board that honestly it's worth having effectively 6 copies of her in your deck. If 2 are rotting in hand, what do you care, you have an on-board Sheoldred.
Beseech the mirror seems really powerful. It also allows you to play off color cards that you can's cast as a tutor target Can't wait for mono black decks put's a single omnath in the deck for funsies Or a single wheel effect to combo with bowmasters/sheoldred
For future videos I wish you keep cards that don't excite you like Not Dead After All in the honorable mentions. I would like to see the top 5 to be interesting cards that you are excited to play that may have an impact.
I like Rowan’s Grim Search a lot for pauper. Specifically for Altar Tron, Garden, and potentially dimir terror. Lots of good pauper cards in this set honestly. Candy Trail, Rowan’s, Snaremaster Sprite, Troublemaker Ouphe, Hopeless, etc.
I'm months late, but Rowan's Grim Search might be one of my favorite cards in the whole set. Every time that's in your hand you have tons of possibilities. Are you going to Bargain it, and what do you Bargain with? It's still fine even if not bargained (3 mana, instant-speed draw 2 lose 2 is pretty on-rate for Black) so choosing not to Bargain isn't devastating. If you do get the Bargain though, you get to see a ton of cards. Four off the top, and you can keep up to two of them. That's a lot of card selection, and in Black you have lines to get stuff out of your graveyard - in fact, you might just prefer the card to be there. Even if you see nothing you want... throw them all in the yard, and blindly draw cards five and six, which is more or less the un-bargained mode (blind draw 2). It's seeing 10% of your deck if you do "four in the yard, then two in hand", that's a ton of cards. Finally there's the deckbuilding decisions; how do you get the enchantment, artifact, or token to pay the Bargain? How much do you want to build towards having material to Bargain? LOVE the card, amazing for something that just looks like draft chaff.
The best way to play Agatha’s cauldron is with an exiled grist and any sort of “creatures/tokens entering the battlefield get a +1 counter” thing to just make tokens that can use grist + ability which isn’t a lot to add to shells that already want grist and have stuff like Eldritch evolution to find both halves
Yeah First day of class and a voldaren Epicure can go infinite on turn 3? Turn 1 Play voldaren, turn 2 play agathatas, turn 3 play first day of class, discard grist with the blood token, exile grist and put the +1+1 on the voldaren Epicure Makes an insect, gets the +1+1 from First Day, makes insect repeat.
I know this message is a bit late, but THE END is huge, try 2 copies of it in a FNM event in monoB coffers and this card make the difference in many match-up.I think it is Good also in pioneer. Try it,trust me!
Blossoming Tortoise also feels incredible with Mutavault, Mishra's Foundry, Crawling Barrens, and so on. Mutavault in particular sounds fun, 0 cost animate it as a 3/3 feels good.
The video we've all been waiting for! Edit: Do you think Mosswood Dreadknight could help making a bg rock deck viable in pioneer? Also, do you think temur adventures could play decently in pioneer with the new cards?
I'm on the fence about Mosswood Dreadknight in Pioneer. I think it's worth testing for sure, although how much of an upgrade it is over the other options I'm not sure.
My biggest concern to Bessech the Mirror is not just being 5-8 copies of your best card, rather being 5-8 copies of every bomb you deckbuild in. Sheoldred OR The One Ring extra copies in a vacuum already sounds terrific, Sheoldred AND The One Ring extra copies, that sounds broken.
The biggest concern is being 4 copies of Yawgmoth's Will in legacy and vintage. It is nuts to play against. You can even protect it with Veil of Summer, although Surgical Extraction can stop it when Yawg Will is on the stack.
@@tonysmith9905 bad info? they're printing direct-to-eternal sets, and those formats have adopted a great many cards from these printings, to such a degree that it is very clearly and directly format-warping. what about that statement is in the least bit controversial?
The creature lands never really felt that great. Looking at this Restless Bivouc, comes into play tapped, so that's putting you behind a turn but can be worth it if you need both colors. Then you gotta then pay 3 to make it a creature, a small creature... with no keywords, and then your land can die easily, maybe you get a +1/+1 counter to keep for all your trouble. That's basically 4 mana kill your own land for a single +1/+1 counter and skip your first turn.
Syr Ginger is a house. You can play a playset bc multiple copies die on ETB and fuel the one in play not to mention Blood, Treasure and Food tokens are everywhere these days.
I think Syr Ginger is actually ok as a legendary. Worst case scenario, the second copy is a 2 mana spell that grows Syr Ginger out of Wrenn and Six and Bowmaster range plus provides a little card selection.
You can't really sac extra cauldrons for value as you have to sac the old one with all the exiled cards on as you don't get a window before the legend rule kick in to sac the new one.
It dies. Those and some of the Evoke elementals (Fury and Solitude). There could be a deck that takes advantage of that, although I'm not sure it will be good enough in the end.
My ONLY problem with this video is the typical "you're being pedantic" one: "Eternal" is not the same as "nonrotating". "Eternal" means it uses cards from the game's entire history - Legacy, Vintage, Commander, Pauper, and the like. Any that have a starting point other than Alpha aren't Eternal formats. And people have been making that mistake since Modern came out :D Other than that, love your lists ^_^-b
@@MTGGoldfish Yeah it's a pretty common mistake, probably because before Modern existed, there weren't any nonrotating formats that started later than Alpha. I blame WotC for this! ;)
Thanks! I think this set up is better rather than doing a bunch of videos, in part because sometimes there aren't that many eternal playable so we're left talking about some weak cards and in part because it lets us mention some less popular formats that can't really carry their own videos.

Wouldn't Syr Ginger not work with sacrificing tokens since tokens dont go to the graveyard? Syr Ginger cares about the artifact going to tue grabeyard, and not leaving the battlefield.
