That voice still sends shivers down my spine. The way they delivered the immediate threat this thing radiates shows that there were some masters of their craft at work
Some of the best writing in gaming history. I come back every once in a while to get nostalgia for when games were good.

This guy sets the gold standard for how the messenger of a hostile, superior alien race might talk to us
I love how this moment really solidifys that this is more than just some rogue spectre. Far much more.
Sovereign still hits as the best reaper in the mass effect trilogy, as far as intros go he's probably the most solidly done intro for the reapers the trilogy could ask for, in retrospect, I still wonder if they could have handled the reapers in ME3 better or if due to some writing error inconsistency they just turned out like they did but overall Sovereign is my favorite Reaper on the citadel.
If I remember correctly the Reapers were originally meant to have something to do with dark matter and the writers that were there for Mass Effect 1 and 2 left before 3 was written or at least finished being written so we got what we got
well in ME1 they needed to create a threat to set the stakes and in ME3 to have a way for protagonist to kill them all so no wonder it hits differently
The base as he’s talking , is incredible, can actually feel it in my chest . One of the coolest and intimidating moments in gaming
I get chills every time he says “We are legion. The time of our return is coming.” First time I’ve ever felt cosmic dread in my life.
I swear most of Shep's issues would have been solved by just carrying around a pocket recorder.

It shows how *confident* Sovereign is. The cycles have continued unhindered countless times.
He had no reason to believe the three tiny specks in front of him would be the end of the cycles and his species.
Soverign was definitely the best thing about the first game
And Vigil. 😥I loathe what they "did" to the Proteans in ME3. Making them into a genocidial empire.
Sovereign was so much more interesting than Harbinger.
Sovereign is not even alive, but he did throw a tantrum when Shepard called him a....coffee machine or something
Not to mention he quickly turned round to come and deal with shepard after getting offended by his lack of being intimidated 😂
