AS-SALAAM VILLAGE - MAJALA, UGANDA FEEDBACK
Majala is home to around 1,850 people who rely heavily on small-scale agriculture to make ends meet. Unfortunately, poverty still grips this community tightly due to adverse weather, lack of infrastructure and lack of job opportunities.
As-Salaam Foundation has spearheaded a transformative project in Majala, Uganda, by building a new village to empower local communities. For the poor villagers of Majala, these houses represent much more than just shelter. These homes symbolize hope, stability, and a fresh start. A total of 30 homes will be built, with 15 already constructed.
Another key component of the project has been the installation of a reliable water source. Previously, residents had to endure long, exhausting walks of many kilometres daily to fetch water. We have been able to install a brand-new water source, aiding the community.
Finally a new block of toilets are being built and three existing dwellings are being renovated.
