I remember reading this one in our freaking GROCERY store when it first came out. XD I can't describe the chilling ass feeling that went down my spine as I flipped through it. It was horrifying. But only fueled my ambition to continue my own Alien comic project.
I always assumed the alien threw the woman out of the cage to get at Church because it wanted her to kill Church because it couldn't. That psychic organ in its head let the alien know both it and the human wanted Church dead. So it did what it could to help, it may hurt itself in the possess but the goal is still reached, kill the captor.
mad hatter the alien is weak being alone on it's own in part 1 of his video he explains that Dr Church said the aliens get weaker being isolated and in part 1 he says that the telepathic part of the aliens brain shrinks due to it being isolated from others of it's kind. meaning that Dr Church WILLED the alien to not kill him, FURTHER MORE!! the chick's WILL to kill the Doctor was so strong that the alien felt it with his mind and throw her up there because he is weaken mentally because he has been so isolated.
Man, I remember picking up the trade for this in a Walmart when I was 13. Dark as hell, and it always stuck with me in how I've viewed the Alien extended universe. It did a great job of giving more information on the Xenomorph without removing their mystery or horror. All the things we "know" about them are just weakened specimens studied by a madman. And damn did it get gore and body horror right.

Who else wants to see a parts 5 and 6? Like the further experiments he does, does he meet his end at the hands of an alien or revenge? Loved the comic and the novelisation probably my favourite!!!!
This is a classic in the Dark Horse Aliensverse. After the godawful run of Alien movies that we've had from Resurrection onwards (something that even Ridley Scott hasn't been able to course-correct) I really wish someone would adapt this storyline...
Have you read Aliens - Salvation? It is also pretty amazing. I also adore the Alien³ idea that didn't come to life, with the priests on the wooden space station.
the artwork is great, cudos to the 2 guys that made this awesome 4 part comic.. it would have been such a better story than covenant... dark, but the alien franchise is supposed to be dark
Since David has control of the Covenant in the next Alien movie, why not make this an origin movie for Church? With David conducting experiments and all, they can adapt it to have Church as the central character, build him up and have us root for him, having him eventually beat the odds and survive, defeating David and escaping. Then in a sequel turn church into a villain. Think of it, he'd turn into what he fought in the beginning, adopting and understanding, maybe even regretting killing David. Who'd want that?
