    I love how you can see the throttle being opened on the engine through the window in the back, aswell as having that open transmission. Plus the power to weight ratio is reaaly amazing. I mean it beats the AMG GTR in 0-100 Kmh time. Bloody hell.

    Nice video 😃
    Do try and smoothen out the throttle inputs, you’ll find the car will carry a lot more speed that way and the car will remain much more stable and predictable, especially through graham hill.
    Next time try the senna curves flat out, there’s a line you can take which almost straight and then you can just enjoy the noise 😃

    Thanks Sam. Good drive. It is so much fun and does not consume all your tyres, money and so on. You can race it on a track without having to pay hugely like you would in a Lamob, Merc or Ferrari. So much fun. They are a hoot on the roads too. If you don't mind getting and out (tight) then you'll have a ball. Regards, Jim.

  • @waynosfotos

    I am on my second lotus, Sam didn’t seem too impressed, but the talk around the track is these are insanely quick round corners and are so cheap to race, Here in WA, a guy with a Lotus Elise S1 100kW rover engine was just about unbeatable in the normally aspirated class. For the price, nothing is in the league of these cars for performance. You can get a Lotus elise 220hp under 100k AUD for a car that does 4+ seconds to 100km/ph and corners on rails.
    The Exige with the traction control on gives almost 2 secs a lap on R spec tyres at our local track.
    If you are into sports cars driving one of these lotus cars spiritedly will have you hooked!
    Remember its a toyota supercharged V6 engine and gearbox, so super cheap to service.

    Sam i am doubting between a standard exige v6 and a 997.2 gt3. My mind keeps saying that a mezger engine is crazy and the one to have but having sat in both it is difficult to make up my mind. What would you think about this?

    • @sammooresphoto
      @sammooresphoto  5 лет назад +4

      It’s a very interesting question. Depends if you like the refinement of the 997. I preferred the steering in the evora to the exige and would say that car is mightily similar to a GT3, not quite the engine note but still good

    • @NotonmondayPorsche
      @NotonmondayPorsche 5 лет назад +1

      I was in the same boat. I ended up buying the 410. I came across a 997 GT3RS on track recently and I feel more than happy with my choice. That said, if I had the money I'd have both.

    • @jimsmith9912
      @jimsmith9912 5 лет назад

      I'd go with the Lotus. More bang for your buck and more fun flying around a track. Also you wouldn't feel guilty throwing it into a corner. Porsches are nice, but bloody expensive and they have all the bells and whistles, while the Lotus is made for better handling and performance to thrill. I have driven both cars and can tell you the Lotus is better, trust me I know because I bought the Lotus. Even a GT4 which is still more expensive than the Lotus is not as good.

    • @karlvanginderdeuren4009
      @karlvanginderdeuren4009 5 лет назад

      @@jimsmith9912 thanks Jim. You Can also pick up Exige V6 for around 50k now, whilst a 997 GT3 is still at around 70-80 and is twice as old then. off course one is better of spending 70 if the car is worth 90 five years later, but I doubt whether that will happen because they built quite a few of GT3. I also think the lotus interior is better against aging (997 interior does not look that pretty to me) so the main difference pro Porsche is the Mezger engine and gearbox. I also did not particularly like the Exige gearbox but that was maybe due to that particular car I drove.
      Do you like the gearbox?
      Kinda leaning towards the lotus now. Thanks again.

  • @sidewaysonhighways

    I have been looking at Lotus for a while as a car to have fun with. I have looked at other low slung toys as well such as the Campagna t-Rex and Polaris slingshot, which require a motorcycle license to operate, and a KTM X-bow which is not a practical buy, so it turns out. It has no protection from the elements and costs about as much as a new Nissan GT-R. I really only liked it because it is open top and available with a six speed manual transmission. I’m a bit disappointed it isn’t available as a targa top as its panel gapped roofline suggests. My first targa topped dream ride, which I will never own, the 980 Carrera GT has become so rare or extinct in the color match I desire (seal grey over ascot brown) that by the time I may possibly afford a used Exige 410 Sport, the Carrera GT will no doubt break more than 1 million $, if it isn’t extinct by then. As if it wasn’t expensive enough already. Lotus’s are a bit underrated in the sport car world, it seems. I think I have seen more Ferrari’s and Lambo’s on the road than Lotus’s. It’s been 4 1/2 years since my 05’ Sti was wrecked and back then it was difficult for me to get out of due to age old back problems. I had to literally push my back up against the B-pillar to get out of it. That was at age 32. I still have to do that now in my Crosstrek. Luckily I’m seeing a chiropractor to straighten my spine out. So maybe when my back is better, and I’m over the hill, I can celebrate with a new toy.

    • @sammooresphoto
      @sammooresphoto  Год назад

      Honestly I really like the 410 sport. Very different to the radical (downforce slicks and half the weight can’t be replicated). This is waaay more competent than the f40 which was lots of boost but on track you have a lot of weight transfer and grip grip…grip…snap. I then also had straight pipes so that was quite an element. I’d say the car it’s most similar to is my 997 rs which I feel the evora actually get’s somewhat close to. Very interested to drive an Emira and the iterations down the line.
