    This is the best information on the Peace Dollar I’ve watched. The Morgan Dollar is beautiful and interesting; however, I’m working on getting more Peace Dollars because they are beautiful and seem to emit an unusual energy that I don’t feel when I hold the Morgans. Strange? Maybe-but I’m fine with that.
    I love both the Peace and Morgan dollars. Thanks for sharing this interesting historical background info.

    • @jbyrd2401
      @jbyrd2401 4 года назад

      Interesting ... I feel the history and aura of imagination of the Morgans as in the nostalgia of a cowboy walking into a Saloon paying for a bottle of whiskey, a room and a bath. Maybe a lady to draw a nice hot bath for him *;* Ohhhh the stories they could tell of Bank robbers, on & on!

    I have been collecting peace dollars for a few years now, and have almost a complete set. Just need the 1934-S and a 3 errors( 34 filled D, The Double Die, and one other error) to complete the set. The 1922 HRs, @ $200,000, are out of my price range. One reason I heard that the broken sword wasn’t chosen was that it was a sign of defeat and surrender. When a soldier surrendered, his sword was broken. We hadn’t given up and we didn’t want to gloat by having the eagle holding a busted German sword, so the rock was chosen.

    • @Saharacoins
      @Saharacoins  7 лет назад

      It is not that the coin was minted in New Orleans. In 1922 there were no dollars minted in that mint. You mentioned that it is "on" the eagle. Feel free to email photos of it to us at Service@saharacoins.net and we can take a closer look and see if we can help you figure out what is going on with it.

    • @Saharacoins

      Yes, both were struck in 21. The crazy thing is that in 1921 it was actually a short run time for the Morgan but they minted 44,690,000 Morgans which was the most Morgan dollars minted in a year... The next closes was 1889 where they minted 21 million of them.

    I am confused, my 1921 peace does not have either of these eagles on the back. It is totally different. I can't seem to find one that looks like this. I have had this coin since 1962. The year I was born. Giving to me by my Grandmother as my first dollar. The eagle on the back does not have a broken sword or an eagle resting, It has an eagle with arrows and some kind of plant in its clauses. Both wings spread wide open. Doe's anyone else have this coin?

      Yes, the coin you own is a Morgan dollar not a peace dollar. You can check out photos of a Morgan Dollar and verify it. www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/1921-1-morgan-pl/7297

    Both are awsome but I like the profile of the Peace dollars more. The hair, the crown and the slimmer face. Eagle on the Morgan is definitely better though.

    I remember going to the bank and getting silver dollars before the price of sliver started up.

    • @Saharacoins

      Here in Vegas people definitely still find silver dollars at the bank, it is mind blowing that they still get turned in.

      @@Saharacoins Every time my parents came back (to Wisconsin) from a Vegas vacation, Dad would bring home a pocket full of silver dollars. I guess he was helping them to circulate instead of concentrating in Nevada.

    12:59 if I did my math right the government is sitting on $5.4 million worth of junk silver based off of the coins they don’t have in circulation out of that series

      you would want to check the weight and the diameter of the coin to start. The diameter should be 38.10 mill and the weight is 26.73 grams. If the coin is worn there may be a slight variance in weight

      If it is a 21 high relief even a cleaned one can sell for $80-$120 or so, that is a ruff estimate without seeing the coin in person

      Before passing it off as a scratch meaning damaged take the time to go check out vamworld and look as see if it is a recognized variety. Peace dollars have many many of them and some can actually bring extra value!
