  • Derek sits and babble a lot about the RC10 Clear Edition Kit. This limited run kit is probably sold out, costs way more than it should and it’s really race-able…yet you might want one if you’re old and grew up racing this legend. #rc10 #rc10clear #vrcmag #teamassociated #rccars #inthelkitchen #fyp

Thank you so much for the videos. Still pay the subscription to vrc mag. Even if its just these random videos and a random magazine releases, its worth every penny to support this. Been in the hobby for 30 years and worked in the industry for 15 years. So much value hearing those memories and so much value to those getting into it. I learned so much back in the day from the “babbling” of guys who have been in it awhile. Thank you again

Wow, alot of grumbling.... to me in '85 this was soooo much kooler than my frog. x-mas morning the dinner table was mine for the whole day, dyed the parts blue . The next morning for first run it was very much worth whatever little shortcomings the build might of had. Truely a great era.

I dyed my parts too. Just not the same as being a kid building this. And that damn .035 wrench. Haha

Nice work,I read all the comments from the viewer's and I agree this car was and still is the shit.I have a Christmas video of me getting the original 1 back in say around 1987 and I pointed out things on the bax and was so happy ,Santa even gave me the ball-bearing hop up for it.ive had tons of vehicles and this one is the one I wish I never got rid of.like one comment I read, tons of conversion kits for it.this hobbyshop in N.Y built a monster truck out of the RC-10 with 2 motors!! I seen a video yesterday of the car converted to 4wd belt driven. Now I'm rambling 😮needless to say I'm going to buy all the parts I can get for mine and drive the he'll out of it.I don't care about the clear plastic but right now I can't find anything else.im going to wait awhile before building it,until I can't buy anymore parts.so far I found the chassis and steering and shock towers.

I can relate so much here.. almost word for word. Built mine in '86, and recently bought the CC and 40th. I still remember that crappy transmission from back then - mine never ran very freely. It was never great - even then it sucked. Better than Tamiya but still sucked. Also remember the allen wrenches, those hardened black spring steel e-clips, bending the wire for the anti-roll, stripping the crap out of those soft green aluminum screws.. etc...I was 13 my dad helped me - I remember he was impressed it was like a real car. Then tell me you didn't drill holes in your chassis with a corded hand held drill, cut a few fingers off, then had your mom buy purple, yellow, and pink RIT fabric dye at the grocery store and dyed all the nylon parts.. . after you messed up the chassis you just had to get a graphite one for $60 right before you decided you only run it outside the house on the street and got foam road tires and another body for it... next you bought an 11-turn twisters modified to set the neighborhood speed record. I could go on... :)

I have my original A stamp but my dumb ass cut the chassis trying to make it nitro when that was a thing so its kinda useless but still sits on the shelf. This was the Slash of the day. many different conversions to make it anything. Monster truck, oval car, street car etc. the "good old days" Appreciate the vids.

The original instructions were the WORST. They were photographs but it was like sheets of paper that had been photocopied for photocopies from photocopies and on if you know what I mean lol. I'm hoping there is another re re of the kit (doesn't have to be the clear), as I had the Classic version from a number of years ago but sold it for 5x what I paid for the kit and missed ordering one of these. Maybe we'll get a another version, something like a "Jammin' Jay" 40th Anniversary IFMAR Champion kit (The Classic kit from a few years ago with the JJH Blue/Red body on the box pic lol).

That was the technology of the time

When I built my original it was easier because of the nylon being way softer. And I think the philips screws were better for the idler gears and even the chassis screws. The gearbox was also way smoother but I filed and polished those for a week haha ha.
And yes was a z-bend for the steering center link.
I do think the shock cap o-ring is way better than the old plastic flat washer. Those leaked like mad.

I forgot about the nylon shock washer! The idler gears were always Allen.

Wonder if a drop of oil on the threads would make em screw in easier, gona try that on mine when it arrives, hope i have an easier time LOL

I pre-ordered one of these kits direct from Team Associated but did not get one. They apologized for this and said that they were sold out. I also pre-ordered from the hobby shops online and got one. I find that interesting. Now Team Associated is selling the 40th anniversary edition RC10. They sent me an email about it and guess what? I got one of the 40th edition cars. It now seems they are now sold out of the 40th anniversary car too? Thoughts?
