I have so much respect for this man. Him and his band are so freaking creative and real, and him as a person is super smart!
And most importantly, humble.
Just nice to know that they're down-to-earth guys. I find myself listening to fiction almost every day lately I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing but one hell of a song.
@@skeptischism1324 it's a beautifully painful track
@@feargm well said couldn't agree more
@@staystrongjoseph 😊
M.Shadows meaning Mullet Shadows of course. Props to him for rocking one regardless of what ppl think! 🤘
I'm rocking a mullet.. but not as majestic as his..
That is one sexy f*ckin mullet!! 😍
It suits him
Aren’t mullets trendy af right now?
@@christophersanzo1833 they've made a comeback, and I'm not mad about it lol
Shadows is one of those people you could sit there and talk to for hours and never get bored. Great interview
M Shadows is a cool ass dude. Doesn’t act or sound like a rock star. Just a typical guy you would see at the grocery store. New album is a masterpiece in my humble opinion. My 15 yr old daughter and I saw them in Austin & Ft. Worth in October. Brilliance! ☠️🦇🔥
That austin show was awesome!
I commented prior and will comment again. This is your best interview. Probably Matt's best in modern time. He fully explains so much, in depth as well. Bravo and well done dude.
I agree
The first song I ever heard from them was Afterlife. That was 2007, I was in 7th grade. I’m 29 now and they still are my favorite. Always will be. They NEVER sold out and I respect them for that so much
They write music that they love and are proud to make, and their fans love their music because of that
@@thearchived4823 couldn’t of said it better. They never put out an album for a paycheck. They waited years to release This album and we waited with them patiently
Bro. They sold out after their 2nd album. Never been the same when they went mainstream
@@Adam80m8 it was literally there choice to change from metal core, Warner bros did not want A7x to put most of the songs of city of evil. They went against the studio
@@Captain_Accord Exactly. They did it themselves lol
My bf is not a fan of A7X. He was one of those metal heads in highschool that thought he was too metal for them. He is also musician who gets super passionate about gear and the audience experience so he’s very critical of how musical acts present themselves live and the choices they make for their sound. All this to say, he took me to see A7X bc I love them and I’m a DBC member, and he was very impressed and now has a lot of respect for them. He loved how clear and clean their guitars sounded and loved that we could hear them play authentically (rather than hide behind backing tracks) he also loved the way they’re so casual and funny on stage just enjoying themselves and performing. It meant a lot to me that my bf was able to see that in them bc it reminded me why I’ve stayed a fan so many years. Love them or hate them, they are solid musicians and all around good dudes and that’s why their fans are so loving and dedicated to them.
Matt is one of the coolest guys in the scene, it was great to see him getting excited about different things and having a conversation that wasn't just an interview, and he gave real honest answers
Before a7x I was listening to Britney Spears & NSYNC, so this man literally changed my music style overnight. Mad props to the whole band for what they've accomplished. Stoked to hear the record tomorrow.
Hahaha - I can relate!
My son is in the death bats club and was in L.A. for their event. They were so nice, my son sent me pictures and even a video from Brian for me. I wouldnt expect anything less from a fellow Orange County resident. A7X you rock and the new album is off the charts bad ass! Thanks for being awesome, Nicks Mom Karen.
M. Shadows will always be my favorite frontman and vocalist. He's fuckin' brilliant on top of being an excellent singer. Thanks for doing this Interview Rock Feed, so happy to be seeing A7X in interviews again :D
People need to stop hating this man and this album, this guy is a great human being but even a better singer/song writer and this new album is a masterpiece
The first avenged sevenfold song I ever heard was “not ready to die” while playing zombies and at the time I was heavy into linkin park. And I said who is this band I have to listen to them and the next day I found out who they were and downloaded the “white album” and I was hooked instantly and I’ve been a die hard fan ever since. They will remain my favorite band till the day I die. Every single of the band members are extremely talented , extremely humble and just put love and heart into every single song that they make. Love these guys to death.
It hurts my heart a little bit cause I just really got into avenged, and I’m still young. I was born in a generation where good music is dying, I’m so glad I found this band
good music isn't dying, music's more diverse than ever, but unless you generalize the entirety of it with radio hits you will always find good music
@@dimitripapadinikolausno real music is definitely dying doucher
its just a lot harder to find, just because music is more diverse doesn't make it better
@@Murraymane never said that, there are lot more artists that you can find now that you could potentially enjoy than there were pre streaming era.
Doesn‘t even take effort, hell i got into metal as a kid through streaming back in 2016.
go for their old stuff, they have a plethora of choice!
Such a relatable and cool guy.. as an aspiring musician, it makes me happy to see people like this still exist in the industry
i remember getting to do game with fame on the xbox 360 with m shadows. Got to play the original MW2 with him. Even played with some of his crew past the game with fame timeframe. Nobody believed me at school when I told them. One of my favorite memories growing up.
Lucky bro
Nice interview, always a good listen when Shadows is talking. Love Avenged Sevenfold.
Thanks!
The musician at the top of my list that I would love to sit and talk with. And probably wouldn’t even talk about music. His look on life, science, reality, etc are exactly where my mind is at.
Wish i could have seen them live when the rev was around man☹️
Wackerman is a perfect fit, not exactly but perfect, the Reverend would approve!
@@georgecoull1883 I bet they would have a great time hanging out with a few beers
I know. I wish I could go to the live in LBC show
@georgecoull1883 hes probably the only person who could match what I think Jimmy would have grown into.
I did. 4 times. He was as great as everyone says he was. It was an honor to see the Rev play.
My fav band ..rest easy Jimmy ✨
Genuine and a breath of fresh air ...
dude, shadows explains things so well and brings up interesting thoughts and ideas. i was getting bummed every time he was getting cut off 😂 but i know the interview must go on
His voice is so calming and he seems like such an awesome and interesting guy 👍🤟❤️
Been a fan since their first album but this one is such an amazing piece of art. I understand some people not getting it but if you are into philosophy and topics of existential crisis, suicide and death you will find such a masterpiece in this album. Its simply Beautiful. Take your time with this album!
I literally got a7x critical acclaim the same way he got his CDs when he was young. That's pretty cool.
He’s still young
Love this band and whatever ride they choose to take us on, I've dodged other interviews to watch this one. Great job dude.
Thank you!
My parents bought me a used Madden 06’ back in 2008 for PS2, which was my first sports game. Bat Country was THE FIRST rock song I searched for because I actually enjoyed it, even when I had already been watching wrestling with the rock songs from back in the day. I love this band so much and appreciate them pushing the boundaries to the music they want to create. What a great interview.
Love bands like Avenged and Starset that really use technology/ unique methods to create and promote their album, ideology, story, or whatever. Very engaging
Been listening to A7X for almost 20 years. Still by far my favorite band.
Been listening since waking the fallen, and I somehow never realized what an awesome dude M. Shadows is. Really down to earth.
I can listen to Matt talking for days, such a well thought out guy!
So glad avenged sevenfold is back
Great interview, loved hearing new stories about the band’s early days. Matt is such a humble and talented guy. Saw avenged for the first time last week and their passion for their new music is obvious, and they looked like they had fun playing the oldies too 🤘
Can't wait to listen to the album. What a great interview 🔥
This is HUGE! Thanks for the interview and congrats!
What a fantastic interview, thanks for your efforts! I’ve been an A7X fan since ‘05, seen them live 3x (amazing btw), and cannot wait for this new record. I love that every album is always different in some way or another. They certainly are creative musicians, and M Shadows is an amazing frontman.
I remember when i first heard sounding the seventh trumpet as a 6th grader, to see the band grow and preserve through all the things they have gone through is amazing. They make music they are passionate about and it shows in every album. Definitely one if the best of there generation 🤘💯👑
Did my guy bring back the grills? Savage
Met him when he was on tour in Ireland real down to earth guy he let and my brother get photos with him and the band , never felt so blessed. Legends 🤘
It was so refreshing to hear an interviewer say they didn't know enough about a subject to have an opinion on it. That's a message that everyone needs to hear
His DMT experience was so amazing to hear!! I’ve done it a quite of few times also and it’s just such an incredible experience! Love how he was able to use it as part of their music! Gotta dig into this album! Especially after hearing the Tie ins to it
What would you recommend for a first timer curious about a DMT experience?
The album is incredible
He seems like a really cool guy and easy to get along with.
A7X was my absolute fav band when i was 15/16 i was obsessed with them. I havent listened to them in years and this is the first time in a long time that i saw matt and hear him talk and it just touched my heart and i started to tear up i miss them a lot and my a7x phase
ALBUM DAY LETS GO! Get to see A7X live in Portland in October this year!! been wanting to see these guys since I was 13, I’m 21 now! Been waiting for this concert for years! Super excited! Man hearing M. Shadows live and watching Zacky and Syn play is going to be so amazing especially being a guitarist and a drummer myself. Pure excitement man! Love you guys!!! (rip rev will always be missed and thought about!)❤️❤️❤️
I stayed up, and looked at 12 some'm. Album was getting put up at the time. Listened immediately. It turned out wonderful. Im almost 31. My first show was to see them when I was 16. Let me tell you, you're not gonna forget it. I'm excited for you. M. Shadows voice is some'm else. Also the most outstanding. I'll always love them, though. And the Rev will be missed FoREVer. ^🖤^
@@SevenfoldKidd I loved the new album!!! It was so creative and different from what they usually do! Have you checked out the set list for the tour this year? They’re playing all of their bangers!!! So excited to hear “A little piece of heaven” and “Buried Alive” Live!!! Gonna have a sore neck from all the head banging the next day for sure!!
One of the coolest and most intellectual interviews ever to me
This man have a strong voice and amazing...
Love the interview 👌 M Shadows has grown so much as a person, great hearing him discuss existentialism with you.
God, to be able to sit down and talk philosophy and theology with Matt would be absolutely incredible.
Love this guy and love avenged, can't wait to see them this year at louder then life! Will be my first concert/festival ever and always wanted to see them,as well as a bunch of the other headliners this year...
This man is so brilliant. I feel like he's reading my mind sometimes too. "I'm ok with not knowing." Yesss! Such a great chat. Great work!! Also, I've followed this channel for a long time, & it's so cool to see you interviewing such legends now.
This band has been through so much, the first time i heard them was on saints row 2, i was way too younge to be playing the game but thats besides the point lol im 23 now and that game was pretty new at the time to add perspective. Jimmys death was something ill never forget, i may have been too younge to understand how fking insane of a musician he was but i felt the connection still. These guys deserve the greatest in life and i cant even describe with words how much respect i have for them all. Wish nothing but the best for shadows and rest of the band, they deserve it
I dont know why I expected him to be bigger, less personable, more gruff... he just seems like such a chill and nice guy
Same 😂
Pleasantly surprised tho. Ya never know what’s behind the voice.
AWESOME INTERVIEW
around 10mins in him explaining the music video.. just wow very indepth.
I'm so glad that when he remembers Jimmy "The Rev" that he smiles and laughs at this point.
maybe one day we will be blessed with m shadows streaming
This interview is so in depth and truly amazing. Matt has some very cool views and ideas. It’s brilliant!
What a great interview, didn’t know I needed this until I started listening 😊
absolutely loved hearing matt talk about all these topics, what a cool & chill guy! he also looks amazingggg love the mullet so much
Deftones, Slipknot, Linkin Park, Korn, System of a Down, Disturbed, POD, Limp Bizkit, Puddle of Mud....basically any metal band that incorporated some element of rap or hip hop is what I have always considered "nu metal".
Same
I hate that System of a Down always gets lumped into nu-metal. their music was far more inspired by avant-garde, not hip hop or rap. They just get thrown in cause of some of the chuggier riffs and the time they came out in
Dudes a legend! All of em! Especially Rev!
Rockville is so good. Danny Wimmer has done such a great job making something so huge that runs smoothly and feels safe. Which is a big deal in these insane times.
Went my fourth time this year, I'm going next year. Can't wait. Got to see them last year. They were amazing
Matt should do a Pinkly Smooth Cover live
Rev's death really changed him, but not even in a negative way. He mateured so much. I hope he's okay.
As a French fan, I’m so fuckin happy to see them again ! 🔥
This interview is amazing! Great topics, awesome discussion! Loved every second of it.
1:04:51 him mentioning Divine intervention made me quite happy to say the least that is by far my favorite slayer album
I’ve never been more sad that an interview was over than when this ended
Just went to see them play in Pittsburgh and it was amazing I loved it. We took the kids and they enjoyed it too. Especially the guitar rips my son has his signature shecter and he was star struck.
This is such a good interview, loved hearing about the warped tour scene. Great job!
This is a good interview. I wished they would have done something for waking the fallen 20th anniversary like Linkin Park or something
They did for the 10th anniversary
@@Nestorglass Wasn't it more like 11th?
@@Brongo1111 kinda??? don't remember LOL
Fantastic interview! Thank you!!!
A7X will always be my favorite band. I will be getting a deathbat on my hand pretty soon.
UNREAL ALBUM! STILL listening daily months later!
I could listen to him talk about anything he wants for as long as he wants ❤
hearing how Matt describes how rock shld be just reminds me of Jack White. So in my opinion, Jack White is one of the musicians leading rock and roll / blues (whatever you wanna his music) onwards in the right direction. With his Third Man Records full on vinvyl production and supporting indie artist, he is def one that has my upmost support.
Easy to look at too 😊 but one of the best interviews ❤
What I would do to have a 30 minute conversation with M.Shadows holy shit man lol
Been a huge fan since like 2005 when I first heard Burn it Down on MTV's headbanger's ball and it's crazy to see their evolution over the years
When I heard "Hail To The King," it felt like I had gotten home. Avenged Sevenfold was part of my teen years, and I went to the Avenged Sevenfold concert for my birthday, and it was like I was in church when I went to the Charlotte NC concert last year
I was there last year as well, I'm sure all their shows have great energy but that one was awesome
One of my favorite a7x songs is 2nd heart beat. I'm glad he mentioned it and that it played a pivotal role in them getting their 2nd album recorded.
He has one of thee most unique and recognizable voices. I have no idea how he can do that. The self titled A7X is like the Black album of alternative rock/metal.
He has technique and seems aware about his range. And he focuses in his normal singing. Unlike many others...
The legend has of mullet Matt continues to grow
Thanks for this. What a killer interview!
would love to hear Matt tell the rest of the story of Jimmy playing drums on WTF and learning to play to the click and then going off on City of Evil.
They are truly amazing and I think this album is ahead of its time. I can't wait to hear the whole thing!
The first time I knew about A7X was at warped tour in Milwaukee in 2005 when they first appeared. I was so blown away and I have been hooked ever since.
Dude Matt is the man. These guys have been ahead of the game for so long.
You All Have Left An Imprint On My Heart❣️A7X 4ever❣️🔥❤️🤘
Loving this interview. He's saying stuff I have been saying for years, but way more eloquently. I'd pay for a block chain verified AI persona, trained by M. Shadows to discuss these things with me and improve my own communication skills and understanding.
I love every avenged album for each creative experience that they are. Love his insight on a lot of these topics you discussed! Great interview 😊
Phenomenal interview!
City of evil was the first avenged Sevenfold album I was introduced to and really got into. I had recently watched a few introspective videos on avenged Sevenfold and the uprising downfall of TRL. I am almost ashamed to say that I discovered my favorite band on TRL. It's kind of funny to have a discussion on avenged Sevenfold with younger fans and explain this is where I learned about The boys in Avenged Sevenfold 🤦
This interview was amazing, thank you ❤
Great interview 👏🏻🤘🏻
I’m glad they included LB there at the end. They have such a sick rhythm section. Sam and John kick ass.
Interview hit out of the PARK good! Soo interactive & just genuine down to earth convo. Thank you BOTH. Man. So good
One of my favorite lyricists! I love how complex this band has always been!
Thanks Rock Feed. Love Shadows and A7x 💗🤘
I first saw them at warped tour 99 in StL, and he's not bullshiting!! They were literally playing under a tent on the dirt directly across from the half pike, and they fuckin SHREDDED!! I think it was myself, my friend with me and maybe 5 other people watching. So glad to be there at that moment
He looks SO YOUNG.
He's what 42 I think? That's still pretty young. I am only a year older than him.
