Could you perhaps do a small vid on this case. I don't know how much info you will find on it but I would appreciate it even if you could just do a small 10 minute vid.
My grandparents knew of one of the victims as her body was found not very far from their house. If I remember what my mum told me my grandparents knew the woman who found Tracy Turner's body. Her body was found in a ditch after it had been raining and had floated to the top. The woman who found it was mounted on horseback which is how she saw down into the ditch.

He made a profound impact from the smallest of ways to the greatest. Even tho it wasn't what he was working on in making life changing impacts but I believe he is happily R.I.H and is proud of what his family has done in making sure his name and goals he was working hard to achieve doesnt go in vain. It's sad that it takes deviations in order to finally motivate genuine change. Good. I feel bad that they had a terrible upbringing but at the time I was 16 at the time and this rocked the core of all the U.K. we all grieved that day. It was a frequency, vibe I dunno whatever you want to call it Damilola was all our family and I’m from the north and it wrecked us up here . I remember my mum crying , I cried, all the papers with his beautiful face on the main pages.
Everyone was rocked. That’s why his name is never forgotten because we all know how we felt that day and it was a whole collective of sadness , anger , grief.
I can’t explain it unless you lived through it but it felt like we we’re all connected , Damilola was a very special boy.
I’m 40 next year and I now have a 10 year old son, I can’t even begin to imagine what his parents went through, are still going through .
What sickens me is things have only got worse. Knife and gang crime is an endemic now, has been for years.
All those lies that were told to us saying zero tolerance to it after this fell on death ears and look where we are now.

It was 5 years because it was children unintentionally murdering another child. If it had been intentional, it would've been longer; However they stabbed him in the leg which normally isn't the most lethal spot. This makes it seem more likely that they only wanted to hurt him and not kill him. Also as Juvie's(at the time of the crime), their sentencing would automatically be lower than an adults in the first place.

Ive tried to have this boy removed from the bus but the bus driver says she doesn't hear it going on. Which should absolutely not matter at all. Its to the point now that i drive them to school in the a.m and i am rearranging my schedule to start picking them up also. Its quite frustrating to have to do this but my child has gotten off the bus numerous times in tears and im not going to let it continue. Can I just say, mad respect for Damilola's father and mother for creating their charity after the murder. It's not unheard of that parents of victims create funds or charities in their name, but I was expecting them to focus on bullying and children who go through that. The fact that they raise awareness of the circumstances that made their child's murderers, and many other criminals, the way they are (poverty, growing up in violent communities, lack of alternatives or perspectives) is, to me, extremely brave and worthy of respect.

Dude, as a mom of a 4 y/o boy living in Chicago, I don't let him out of my sight anywhere, anytime, and I won't as he gets older. I know Damilola's poor mother must beat herself up for walking him TO school, but not home. His father likely felt guilt for allowing him to go to the UK. I'm sure his brother feels guilt for not being able to walk him because of his job, and his poor sister feels guilt for being the reason they came to the UK. But at the end of the day, it's no one's fault except those disgusting fucking animals who did it. They should be locked away forever. Period. End of. If you can do that to a CHILD.... a KID... you are not fit for society. Not now. Not ever.
I can't even imagine how the man who held him as he died feels. I'm a former medic and I think it's absolutely crucial that we teach everyone basic first aid. I didn't see his wound, so I can't say for sure, but maybe... MAYBE if he'd known to grab any cloth and apply his full weight to that wound (to act like his skin and keep blood pumping through the body instead of out of it) or even if he knew what a tourniquet was, how to make it, and how/when to use it, maybe, just maybe, Damilola would still be here. If you read my comment... please, go educate yourself on first aid. Get CPR certified. Research "Good Samaritan" laws in your state, etc. Do it because you never know when that knowledge may help a stranger, or even a loved one.

18 minutes in so I haven't seen the end of the video yet, but god. He would've been such a great and amazing person who I'm SURE would've done phenomenal things for medicine and just in his personal life. He's the kind of kid that you remember for a long time and smile thinking about. He already was just an awesome person and kid. So horrible what happened to him. I am glad however that he had people with him when he passed. He deserved at least that and so much more.
Edit: (PS I'm sorry this edit turns out really angry and rambling) No fucking way. No fucking way. They stabbed him and twisted the weapon inside his leg, that wound MUST'VE been able to be distinguished from a fall onto the broken glass bottle in some way by a better pathologist. And I don't care that they were 12, 13, and 15. I don't care what background they came from. Even kids that young must have some semblance of morals and empathy and an idea of the consequences of fucking stabbing someone (or in their version of events, "fighting" someone). I remember being that age and I and most kids my age at my school (which was in a pretty bad area) could've NEVER done something like that IMO. And they showed no regret during the trial or consideration for what they had done. Sure, they grew up in a pretty bad environment. But most kids raised in those kinds of circumstances don't go on to murder a 10 year old. And the note asking for "real justice" for Damilola with his name spelled wrong? Just... sigh. Oh and not to mention how they never told anyone in the years following Damilola's death. They were right in the thick of it and they saw the investigation and they must've seen Damilola's family in the media and talk of his case, with not just his family, but many in the UK grieving for this poor boy. They saw the effects of what they did and they did nothing. I know Eleanor said no one believed it was a fight, but the courts must've been able to do something more. They could've tried to rehabilitate these boys as part of their sentence so they could grow as people and learn to regret what they did, for example. But they didn't and the boys (or at least one of them) went on to reoffend. I hold no sympathy for these killers besides feeling sorry that they never got put in a better environment more like the one that every child deserves... But not all kids from their situation turn out to be killers. Damilola was done an injustice. I am glad however that his family put a positive spin on things and tried to effect change in those communities. It's wonderful the things they're doing in Damilola's name. I'm sure he would be overjoyed at what they're doing for people.
