    This was so helpful. Just installed mine in the extended van. Your hints to pre-drill and pre-screw were magic. I created a wooden spacer ring to get a flatter pull against the gasket. Also bought high quality stainless steel screws (better quality and had to be a bit longer with the 3/16 plywood spacer material). ONE MORE thing - a heat gun and trim tool makes quick work of sound deadening mat removal.

    Best vid on this, thanks so much. As the many other commenters mentioned, the window trim pre-drilling is excellent. Only thing I saw missing is covering the exterior trim on van before cutting opening with paper or plastic so metal shavings don't get behind it and cause corrosion. Plus, prime/paint sealing the cut metal of opening for extra rust proofing. I have the magnetic bumpers too and hadn't thought to cover them so thanks also for mentioning it.

    Just finished my CRL 1033 install - thank you for the tips! Especially the pre-drilling and pre-screwing. The instructions said to pre-drill, but I would've been DYING if I hadn't pre-screwed also. Still had just a bit of trouble lining up the trim but instead of freaking out, I simply widened the hole sideways as you showed. You saved me a lot of time and frustration, thank you.

    Thank you for this video! We encountered the same issues with the screws and frame and couldn't really find anyone giving specific guidance on them. Hopefully others will see this before they try and avoid these issues!

    Really informative! Thanks for putting that together. There were a few things I would screwed up for sure. I just put in the large pax side door window from crl but these little guys almost seem tougher! Good video.

    Just installed mine yesterday. One window screwed in fine and the other had the same problems with (lining up trim). Also, since the van is curved I got some minor warpage on the outside underneath the window... Basically where you'd be able to tell where screws were put in. Maybe I over tightened them...? I have noticed some put a wood trim piece inside but the correct directions don't say anything about that. Thanks for posting this video! Your install looks great!

    Fantastic video, great points to follow! for everyone else, watch this BEFORE you do your install! No matter, we got our windows into our Ford Transit, but pre-drilling those holes would have made life a heck of a lot easier. Question: did you put any sealant onto your screws before you screwed them in? I couldn't see mention of that. As an aside, we did our left window with Butyl and we were so fed up that we did our right hand window without the Butyl! We'll report back in six months as to waterproofing....

      I did not put any sealant on the screws and so far don’t have any leaks. Glad you got them installed, we love ours.

    This was super helpful for us right now. Thanks for sharing your insights and experience with us YT fans! One question, why did you decide to not use any butyl tape or sealant around the window for that little bit of extra added protection from water leaking in? Have you had any leaks at all with your installation? Much appreciated : )

    • @professionalpiddler1071
      @professionalpiddler1071  2 года назад

      Windows have worked great and we haven’t had any leaks. I wanted to add some butyl tape or silicone for added protection but the directions specifically say to not add anything extra to the seals. So far they have been great but if down the road they start to leak then I’ll add some extra waterproofing.

    are you happy with these windows? Opening etc? thinking of putting one on either side as long as the sliding door doesn't bang into it. or do you think 1 awning style and 1 slider style for more air?

    • @professionalpiddler1071
      @professionalpiddler1071  2 года назад

      Yes I’m very happy with them and the sliding door doesn’t hit the passenger. A slider would probably allow more air flow but the bunk style could be opened while it’s raining if necessary(light rain). The way mine are positioned, one is at my feet and the other at my head while sleeping. With both opened and the maxxfan pulling air out of the van allows for a constant breeze across my head and feet while sleeping which is nice in warmer weather while traveling. Hope this helps. Good luck!

    What about sealing the outside of the window ? Did you use butyl tape ?

    • @professionalpiddler1071
      @professionalpiddler1071  Год назад

      No, the window has a rubber gasket on it and the instructions specifically say not to add any kind of sealant to the gasket. They haven’t leaked in 2 years so far.

    Thanks! I was looking at the same window. What was the height you could achieve from the floor of the van to the bottom of the window?

  • @woogieluv2304

    Thanks very much for this video! Did your window come with a gasket? I have my windows and haven’t installed them yet and I don’t have a gasket, foam or anything in the box with the windows.

    • @professionalpiddler1071
      @professionalpiddler1071  3 года назад

      Pretty sure there is supposed to be a foam gasket on the window that gets compressed against the outside of the van. I would definitely contact the seller. Best I can remember the gasket was glued to the frame so you may need to windows.
