Thragg despite everything was a power-hungry hypocrite. When he wanted to eliminate Argall's line,he accused Invincible/Mark Grayson and his father for betrayal and Thragg despite everything, never admits his true betrayal. His true job was to seek out Argall's heirs not eradicate his line,he used his title incorrectly. Never forgive Omni Man for release him.
@@commoneditor1170 And not only have i always thought of this theory: The real reason why Thragg hate Invincible and his father and calls them traitors could be that they destroy Viltrum,a trauma that Thragg found unacceptable and is for this has gone completely crazy.
@@dovahkiinslayer752 I think that's more of an excuse Thragg uses because he wants to be leader of the Viltrumites. He only tried to kill Mark and Nolan after learning they are descendants of Argall and he knew if the other Viltrumites find out he would lose his position as Grand Regent.
I love how every viltrumite redemption arc can basically be described as "grand regent Thragg, earth girl pussy got me questioning my loyalty to viltrum."
@@theorangeoof926 Good point. For so long all the viltrumites knew was rage, aggression and completing their missions at all costs. All other beings ever showed them was fear and hatred. But on Earth the viltrumites felt things they never felt before. When they bonded with humans they learned love and affection. Obviously, the short amount of time they've spent on Earth meant more to them than their entire miserable lives under Thragg's rule.
The saddest part is that you can tell that Kregg feels just a little sad for Thragg. The latter being the way he is is entirely a product of Viltrumite society. Thragg was born and bred to be the "perfect Viltrumite" , meaning he's strong, intelligent, ruthless, but also *all alone*
@@commoneditor1170 And he wouldn't want to be anything else, he doesn't care about anything else. He is a natural born psychopath who cares only about himself. Currently he cares about his people... but, well... that doesn't last.
If he actually tried to live on earth instead of an empty ship. He could of Actually change but the finding out invincible and Nolan ad the bloodline he just snaps that all his rule would be taken away from him.
Doesn't make sense, I think it's too convenient to the plot how they all changed to be soft (after brutalizing and enslaving for thousands of years, even killing their own just to have a stronger race) But humans (who look the same but are weaker than the viltrumites we killed cos of weakness) is where we draw the line?
@@danieldickson8591the viltrumites shouldn't care about love. When you have been killing and enslaving for years it shouldn't affect you. Think about it they killed literal viltrumites cos they were weak, why would humans who are weaker viltrumites be the exception. They should despise the humans more than the weak viltrumites. They have been breeding for years by my understanding. If someone saves you in battle, a normal person would want to reciprocate. You do the same to a Viltrumite he sees that as a stupid move and kills you. I think it's possible they change but not that quick. People don't change religious beliefs that quick, and after literally killing millions the loyalty and fear built in their bond as viltrumites should be too deep. Think about it, an American spy can go to another country sleep with someone and build an entire life with them only to betray them for their country. That's just a job. People have done waaaay more for religion and their nation. Like kamakazi'ing themsleves. Thragg has all of those reasons for loyalty, -cult - family - race - religious if you will - and down right fear. But then a girlfriend, one of many you've impregnated in the thousands of years gets to you cos she's human(a way weaker viltrumite) and you were willing to kill a Viltrumite anyway so what's a human Too quick bro. 😂 They turned too quick
It's fascinating to think that it took these hardened viltrumites months to a year to be fully converted into understanding the value of love to humanity, while it took omni man 20 whole years to fully come to terms with his feelings. He may have married debbie but he still kept his viltrumite virtues and even considered murdering his family when he thought mark wouldn't have powers. Nolan came so close to destroying everything and it took every bit of his son's love to finally redeem himself. Really goes to show how ruthless he was as an viltrumite and his loyalty to the viltrum empire was second only to tragg himself.
An adding key factor on the Viltrumites being so involved with their human partners is the that not only do they get to be treated with love and affection they never exactly known since birth and throughout their millennia of violent conquest, it’s that humans look *exactly* like themselves physically and emotionally, which triggers something in them. Hell Thulla is one of the oldest Viltrumite and she settled down just fine. If they’ve got with any other species then they’d be all high and mighty with their superiority complex like normal. But humanity is their spitting image which made them see a more peaceful and loving version of themselves. This is my take so say what u will
Perhaps seeing so many that look like them made them feel less alone in the universe. Only 50 pure Viltrumites remained, which would cause a lot of stress.
@@krieger8825 I meant the fact that she was around during the whole Viltrumite purge and spent millennia killing her own and committing mass genocidal for the empire, yet she was able to settle down and have a human husband of her own like Nolan and the others.
Thragg's plan was brilliant, the problem is that he didn't try to find out why Nolan, one of the best viltrumites ever, ended taking Earth's side and prepare the other viltrumites to not turn native.
I don't think Thragg is capable of understanding why Nolan did it. Nolan and most other Viltrumites were only raised and trained to behave like psychopaths. Thragg actually is one.
@@danieldickson8591 Thragg underestimated his people's capacity for love and affection. In fact, I don't think he even views the viltrumites as people but rather as extensions of his will. He treats them like they should be mindless machines that blindly follow his orders no matter what. He controls them through fear, but that can only get you so far.
The amount of personal growth a single viltrumite does just by receiving genuine love and affection is a nice detail about them. Lucan went from a ruthless warrior murder-machine to not even being able to cheat on his mate, fantastic work imo
In a way it makes sense due to the concept loyalty between the viltrumite culture. They were trained and raised under the idea that being part of something in which you matter is important, probably the most important thing. The Empire was essentially a cult, and once they were exposed to different ways in which you can find importance and meaning in life, things begin to crack. They were still the same loyal and prideful warriors, but their purpose was starting to change in a direction that Thragg didn't want because he was no longer their main goal.
In my opinion, the reason why Nolan changed longer compared to others is because of the pressure. He is the only viltrumite who learned to love at the time. So imagine you being the only one to learn this feeling while you have an entire empire behind you that knows your behind schedule and worse you don't have back up. But when the remaining Viltrumites joined earth the numbers started increasing which in turn decreased the pressure of your love ones dying if you rebel.
@@user-ll9xz6yz6i exactly. Its also similar to the trends. When a nobody uses something new it's dumb for the majority but when it's someone from a celebrity it's Fashion. Nolan is a viltrumite warrior not like Krieg who is second in command.
I don't think it's a lack of pressure due to consequences. It's more knowing that you aren't alone, that there are others like you who understand, who feel what you feel. That emotional support makes it easier to acknowledge your feelings, to others and to yourself.
I think an underrated feature of the dynamic here is that Viltrumites are emotionally underdeveloped. Whereas humans grow up learning, failing, making compromises, and practicing soft skills, Viltrumites almost never have to do that. The powerful are at the top, the rest are beneath. That is a brutish and unsophisticated moral and emotional life for them to lead. When Viltrumites live with humans, they find themselves in a position where they can no longer treat domination as the goal of most relationships. They are children, who respond to nurturing in the same way that ordinary people do. They can't explain it because it's genuinely outside of their ken. This is why, in the long term, the Viltrumites will fall to Humanity's soft power. After living on Earth, the descendants of Viltrum may become fascists, but there will be enough who won't be that Thragg will never get his chance to simply dominate Earthlings forever.
And affection, care and concern - as Lucan described it, even just someone caring for you, simple things like "How was your day?" or "Is everything okay?", the most basic forms of empathy are alien to them. And likewise being able to love and care for your partners without judgement is so strange and wonderful to the Viltrumites.
It’s kind of funny and genuinely sad to see how Lucan and Kregg can barely describe how wonderful it is just to have someone care about you as a person and to do the same for them. Viltrumite society is so utterly Fucked that they couldn’t comprehensively loving someone. It’s like people seeing grass or sunlight for the first time.
No but really though! SPOILERS: That's how Invincible actually ends. Mark and Thragg duke it out, all the while Mark is having an internal monologue about how Thragg can never win because he never really felt any love towards anyone. And he was right, Mark won that battle.

Beyond the blood and brutality, Invincible truly is a reinvention of Superman. The main character is unfailingly good and incorruptible despite having every reason to be, but he is also human with flaws. His determination and moral makes him a beacon of hope and even turns some villains around. Evil people ultimately fail, whether because their evil ways pit them against everyone else or because they sabotage themselves out of ideological impasses. And the power of Love triumph in the end.
@@human3213 Hardly. In DBZ it is customary to spare people in order for them to grow stronger. Power is pursued for different goals, Vegeta is for pride while Goku is for passion. There is background lore about alien empires and sayan being mercenaries, but it never matter nor has any consequences. If it was a DBZ reinvention, the heroes would come to realize the truth that they fight for fun and not for conquest and destruction, the main villains progressively be conquered by this ideal and would show sportsmanship in their fights. There would be no politics, no weapons, space empire of any significance, and Invincible would never take on any responsibilities whether as ruler or even protector of the planet. For all its brutality and gore, this series emphasizes the ideals and principles of classic comic-book heroism, with at least some protagonists who embody them. That's where it differs from something like The Boys, whose creator publicly despises the superhero genre. Robert Kirkman understands and respects the genre, he just wanted to do something different with it.
I like the idea that when the Viltrumites came to earth and properly settledown, they gain the missing piece in their lives. Near invulnerability took their sense of fragility, their compassion. Just goes to show that some just want to love and be loved.
I remember some discussion where cheetahs and tigers, alpha hunters all, would melt to a humans petting as if they're experiencing a feeling they either missed or didnt experienced in their lives after their mother is gone or stops caring for them. I guess its similar to Viltrumites too and its how Nolan and Kregg ended up feeling towards humans.
It also didn't help that Thragg taking over essentially took away a lot of the qualities they had before but lost when the great purge began. Love was something they had always had, and their first emperor wanted everyone to keep. But when Thragg took over, he took everything, twisted it, and tore it apart like the maniac he is. He does not know love. Which, in the end, is his greatest weakness and vulnerability.
@@bibby659I thought it was Mark's grandfather/great grandfather(I don't remember which) that initiated the Great Purge to make Viltrumites stronger and lose all the emotion, and Thragg came later on to continue the "only the strongest survive" trope of the Viltrum empire..?
@chrisa8863 Marks Great grandfather did initiate the purge. However, he was one of the survivors and declared that after the purge, they would seek to protect those who could not themselves and to help spread peace... Thragg hated that and, due to the purge, believed everything other than viltrumites were nothing but vermine, or lesser beings than themselves. As well as any viltrumite too weak to win in combat. So he had the emperor assassinated, took over the title by threatening most of everyone into submission, killing anyone who didn't change to his doctrine, began enslaving or exterminating the races they once protected... etc. This is why Thaedus fights against it as he is a die-hard believer who refuses to follow the original emperors doctrine. As well as attempt to completely exterminate the royal bloodline to prevent any challenge in the future. As in the original laws of the viltrum empire, only those of Royal blood could rule, and only when there wasn't anyone of royal blood would someone take over command *temporarily*. Thragg never planned on keeping the title temporarily. As for how he assassinated the emperor, that's where the virus that killed another half of the already halved viltrum empires people comes into play. If I remember correctly, Thragg was the one who released it onto his people, but it got out of control very quickly as he only intended to use it to kill the emperor quickly. Since general poisons and such don't work on viltrumites, only extremely deadly diseases or unparalleled power and force/mass.
no thats all wrong. the Vultrum empire started to spread after the great purge which wiped half there population. at that time Thragg was not even born. Argall was murderer sometime right after Thragg reached maturehood Thragg was raised and trained to be the best Vultrumite soldier to be Argall personal body guard and agent, because of that he was made grand regent and was giving the task of finding Argall heir. But sometime after he assume the rule of a grand regent the scourge plague was unleashed on the vultrum popalation this has caused 99% fatalities which made Vultrumites nearly extinct. This has also made the job of finding Argall heir nearly impossible which made Thragg eventually give up on looking. the Vultrum empire was never peaceful, They are basically cave men with the power to travel to other planets and steal technology advancement. it suggested in the comics that the reason why Vultrum culture is so violent and deprived of empathy is cause of there long life span. They can care for people but because the live so long that care is replace with Apathy and logic which leads to simple solutions. them socializing with humans woke up there ability to empathize. Being empathetic is not a apart of Vultrum culture, but it is a apart of human culture.@@bibby659
Nah, Kregg and Lucan didn't have as much pressure as Omni-Man did. He was the first to rebel out of love, compassion, and humanity. Not counting Thaedus since he has never been on Earth. And his reasons were a bit different.
@commoneditor1170 Honestly, even if Thragg *had* spent time on Earth, I don't think he would have changed. He was specifically bred to be a warrior and dispassionate, and he would probably be consciously fighting and repressing any affection that developed inside him.
He tried rejecting his feeling it's the same for Nolan till he realized he do cared and earth did change him which if thraggs had not found out about invincible and Nolan bloodline. He would of settle on earth
If you're a nazi and your boss is Hitler yes. Especially of your dog is somehow connected to hews in anyway. Viltrumites are worse and debbie represents what they are against =weakness
This is pretty amazing because for years, all these Viltramites have only ever known battle and conquest. They never known what it was like to have actual peace, to be loved instead of feared. To live for themselves and the people they love instead of an empire where they have to follow the emperor and his rules.
Thragg really fucked up big time I like how he's mad to Anissa because She refuses to mate, while he Always stay on his ship... not the best way to keep loyalty
Reminds me of how American Colonists viewed the parliament in the UK, as leadership and power is relatively non-present and yet very controlling of their holdings.
Nope Anissa just apparently didn’t feel interested until Nolan became emperor and then she saw the potential in mark to be a host for a pure vilitrumite despite mark being half human because their dna is so dominant that producing a half and a pure will make another pure. Anyways I do agree the assault on mark was awful.
@@pale_profile7237 The funny thing is, you can't exactly even blame her for that. "We'll do it the Viltrumite way" might look like a throwaway line, but the implications are huge. Under their stifling culture of "Dog eat Dog, Might makes right" mentality, even romance became reduced to a exercise of strength and dominance. And considering she apparently had four husbands in the past, she was probably on the other end of this situation at least once - and genuinely didn't see anything wrong about it until she settled down on Earth properly and feel in love with that dude during the timeskip.

Does anybody else find the Viltrumite tendency to label humans too beneath them to emotionally attach to but still able to reproduce and ensure “the survival of our people” kind of historical? The way they call these guys cattle until the love and trust sets in is fascinating. I wonder if the writers intentionally made allegories Spanish colonization or if they just happened to come up with it on their own. I find it super cool either way.
The difference is that Viltrumite hybrid offspring were powerful and intelligent. South and Central America are glaring failures of colonization and people are too afraid to say it because of how many people that live in those countries.
It wasn't just Spain. European colonizers pulled that crap all over the world, and their descendants in the colonies perpetuated the same attitudes. Their "innate superiority" allowed them to rationalize exploiting people with superficial differences to them.
@@helghast1149 Powerful yes, intelligent in at least some cases, but otherwise just as flawed as humans. Pride, hatred, greed, envy, they share all our emotional weaknesses. Having super-powered children doesn't justify colonialism. Viltrumites aren't better than us, they're just bigger. And I've yet to encounter anyone, of any race, who's afraid to say that colonialism was a glaring failure. Everywhere.
Imagine if Thragg had actually given it a chance like the others. Imagine Thragg actually turning just like Nolan after falling in love and realize WHY his way of life was practically meaningless.
That's the whole point. While the others lived down on Earth and built bonds with people and essentially went native after being exposed to love and compassion - he remained all alone cooped up in his warship on the moon surrounded by slaves and underlings from conquered races. His plan was never meant to work, he never even had a chance. Nolan being discovered as Argall's heir just accelerated things. The Viltrumites would whack Thragg themselves sooner or later after being exposed to Earth long enough. They already rejected the old ways, even if they didn't even realize it yet - the way how Lucan exposed his vulnerability and instead of being called a weak little bitch, got a supporting hand on the shoulder from Kregg shows plenty where they stand. They not only bond with humans, they are building genuine bonds of friendship among themselves, they no longer operate under the "Dog eat dog, might makes right" mentality. Sooner or later they would perceive Thragg as a threat to the lives they built on Earth and make a move on him.
Thragg and Nolan are like 2 sides to a coin Nolan was up there with Thragg in terms of viltrumite supremacy, so much so that nearly 20 years on the planet later and he was still thinking of conquering it kregg and lukan both developed sentiments with their lovers and the humans blindingly quick, and Thragg just walls himself off so he can't be exposed to it Thragg sees the humans as cattle, but does he not value his own offspring at all? I think he's as weak willed as Nolan and the rest of them, and that's why he chose to stay separate from the earthlings, because if he had to meet and talk to a woman, have a kid, and raise it, he'd be converted just like Nolan and the others It brings to mind the trope of "Both started down the same path, but went different directions in the end" nolan died for his family and kids, and Thragg died alone for his empire Together they really could've had a whole new viltrum/earth empire started, if Thragg just didn't make humans expendable in the process
I also think the context of this is really important. when Nolan wanted to take over his empire was basically well-oiled and still kicking. refusing to conquer the planet could have been a death sentence for him and earth. But if I am not mistaken this scene takes place after Viltrum basically got fucked into oblibion and viltrumites basically had no place to go. so, all of them are in a "weakened" state, now the idea of deserting, of switching sides becomes easier, because the pressure is much less compared to when Nolan had to go through.
What's particularly interesting, to me anyway, is that Thragg's plan would've worked like a charm if he was just slightly less of a hardass. All he had to do was look the other way a little, be slightly more permissive in letting his subordinates achieve his goals their way, and they would have *adored* him for it. He would've gotten his unstoppable army of Viltrumites, and more than that, they would've been brought up hearing about how the Grand Regent is not just incredible and mighty, but how *wise, fair, and generous* he proved himself to be when their people were at their lowest point, and how his rule single-handedly saved their people. An army that would've been unquestionably loyal to him.
They understand what Thragg can't or won't see. Through us, they see a world and a future where they are free to live as they wish, do as they wish, no matter how "unessential" that life is. Where they can pursue goals beyond bloodshed, conquest, war and murder. Where they can laugh and cry and feel and mourn without fear of being seen as weak, without the fear that someone will casually murder them in that moment of perceived weakness in order to move up in rank. To be able to live free of constant fear and violence and rage, where they can grow into something exciting and vital and gentle and *new.* We are so much like them, in so many ways. We are a mirror into what their people once were, long ago, and could be again. We may lack their physical strength and powers, we may lack their high technology, but make no mistake, humanity still has true power, and that power will chip away at their armored shells bit by bit until it finally reaches the heart and soul within, just as soft rains and gentle winds can eventually wear down even the biggest mountain. Soft power is still power. Love is simultaneously our greatest weakness, and the source of our greatest strength. The children of Earth will heal even the wounded, frightened children of Viltrum. Through us, they will find their redemption. Humanity for the win.
Humanity's affection and compassion is underrated, I firmly believe it's a human right and every single one of us should have it throughout our lives, no matter the ups and downs
This reminds me of Macross and how the Zentradi and Meltradi experienced being cared for once in their militaristic life. That there is something more other than war, duty and death. They ended up giving in and getting decultured by humans.
I love how viltrumite become basically loyal puppies when they have a relationship with human, basically when they are loved they melt like icecream in boiling water, and become to their companion like puppies "she called me cutebear, i can't hurt this gentle soul, and i will not permit anything or anyone to do so, my life is now devoted to protect her"
I like how the guys confessed that they fell in love while Anissa was like: “They have been ordered to screw humans while I have to be screwed by them. *Big difference* .”
I disagree. Lucen never even got as far as having several mates. He hooked up with one and then stopped because it would upset her if he slept with others.
@@commoneditor1170 when you dedicate your life to one particular thing it can be hard to want to change. Especially if that person has lived for a thousand years. He is a lot like Dru Zod. He literally has been programmed from birth to be a warrior and devoted his life to conquering planets.
I love the copy pasta that's an alien veteran from a long over war talking about how humans fought with a thing called revenge. whenever they took out a human position others would pop out of no where in the less tactical way possible, yet kill droves of his men and while taking trophy's from his comrade's bodies and wearing themin the next battle.
If you watch Avengers EMH (maybe assemble). Dr Doom rates all avengers and argues Captain America is one of if not the most dangerous as he inspires the other heroes to fight and fight harder
What this just show is how out of touch with life and reality viltrumites were because it was so easy for them to see the error in their perspective on life when they started to Live Even thragg lost his purpose and was only driven by revenge and petty selfishness that kept him bad he wasnt doing it for viltrum just himself and his ego and pride at the end
I remember reading this and finding it so funny that thragg was frustrated with lucan and Kreeg for basicaly the same thing but with annisa she just straight but wouldnt comply to existing with humans.😂
I like how and why they changed. It's actually a biologically encoded and understandable instinct that men want to protect every women who has their kid. I'm not putting labels onto anyone, since it's obvious that the Vultrimites also enjoy the peaceful and thriving world compared to all the battles and hardships in their past, I'm just saying that humans actually have some primal mental designing in them, like how it's instinctual for women to care for their kids. On the basic level, men doesn't always want to fight. They would rather protect their family, no matter how big it is, and I like it how this sort of mental designing was put into aliens too, even though they are so murderous in their culture. Of course they're disobeying Thragg, he's asking them to go against their nature, their NATURAL nature, what doesn't contain conquering and murder. Just... living in peace and protecting their family.
Even after thousands of years being ruthless they changed to good, they never been exposed to something like that, their society sucks, that's the power of love people. Thragg should've at least try too, but now he's toasted.
Is kinda ironic that Viltrumite weakness is Human affection considering by the fact we are just ' fragile and primitive pets' for them, Warriors with thousands of years of existence, growing amongst fights and conquests, rulling or destroying weaker or rogue civilizations, all this thousands of Viltumite culture refuted or put in check by a simple humam behavior.
It’s funny how every Viltrumite was quick to call Nolan a traitor and weak, but even after living for nearly two decades on earth, he was still ready to take over the planet and almost beat his son to death for his duty and his people. Every other Viltrumite lost their way in a fraction of Nolan’s time on earth.
What I find odd is why he's mad, most of them are all making valid points. (Who I assume is) Anissa is a woman, she does not have the ability to just have sex and go on to the next one. She quite literally has to bear the child and then do it again, and she simply does not want to bear children. It's illlogical to say she is getting caught up when if she weren't she would be doing anything anyway. The second one is actively protecting each of his mothers, how is that weak? Earth gets attacked 24/7 and humans are no where near as strong as a Viltrimite. If anything, he's being the most active to your effort because he's keeping the mothers safe. I can't really argue for the 3rd one but my point stands, emotional or not, he's far too harsh.
Everyone seems confused why it took Nolan longer to assimilate. The decision to abandon your species, the mission you've had for the last 500 years, and threat of imminent death was a lot stronger. The others didn't have that same preasure, rather than execution they got a stern talking to, and they still didn't feel like they abandoned the mission or were betrying their species.
Earth topples a Galactic Empire of Super Humans with love and affection. This is kinda cute and a nice change from all the "Humanity bad hmkay" I have seen so often in recent Times.
The fact that thrag thinks that there wont be some fore of change and he will not have to adapt to that is the reason he loses command. If your not willing to change and adapt then your doomed to fail.
Only took months, or years in Omni-Man's case, time that's nothing to a Viltrumite, but that's all it took. There's something special about the Earth. Earth can set you free
Its fascinating really to think what happened may have been possible with any other race honestly, the situation called for them to finally not have to use physical might or intimidation to succeed, to mate with a race that isnt a viltrumite uses skills theyve likely never used to this point, and it allows them to emotionally connect
@@commoneditor1170 it's because viltrumites were not allowed to breed with any race, humans became an exception due to their similarities and the near extinction viltrumite population
There's something I've been mulling over in my head for the last little while that is based on this interaction and pretty much the other results of Thragg ordering his people to mingle with earth's citizens and they fold almost immediately. Nolan takes 20 years and beating Mark within an inch of his life to truly understand the love humans share with each other. Every time a viltrumite talks about him after the fact, they always remark on the fact that Nolan was one of the most respected soldiers in the army and that everyone always looked up to him for his adherence to his duty and people. Clearly, there's something special about him. Then we find out that he's the last known heir of Argal, Viltrum's last king, who was known for his wisdom and internal strength. Yes, he was strong, all Viltrumites are, but his ability to punch really hard wasn't why the people mourned his death and looked for any potential descendants. When it's found out that Nolan is a son of Argal and the rightful ruler of the Viltrumite empire, every single living member of it immediately bends the knee to nolan, a man that was already respected and well known for his loyalty and dedication to the empire (aside from the last couple years of him failing to pacify earth, working with the coalition, and helping gather weapons and fighters that can actually *kill* them, all that). So my thoughts are this: the willpower Nolan exhibited for staying true to Viltrumite for 20 years while on earth and holding onto the detachment he needed to betray everyone on earth, his ability to easily look back on and learn from his past mistakes, and the traits that put him head and shoulders above his contemporaries to the point that so many of them looked up to him, all of these are traits that Argal must have shown, and that kind of wisdom is why others so easily followed him in such a bloodthirsty, survival of the fittest, imperialistic society. Those same traits were what let him stay true to the ideals of the viltrumite empire way longer than others when put in a similar situation. I should note that when he found the bug planet, his original intention was to bring it into the empire's fold as a way to make up for his apparent failure on earth, and only really changed his mind when they showed up and started killing everyone to punish him
Honestly, I was scared as sh*t for Kregg when seeing that first scene. Imagine you’re being summoned by the most powerful Viltrumite who can rip you apart in a second, and there isn’t a single thing stopping him from making an example of you when you’re out in the open… ALONE.
Even during the final battle, his own lack of love was part of his downfall. His daughter, Ursal, surrendered after seeing him use his own kids as weapons.
Thragg despite everything was a power-hungry hypocrite. When he wanted to eliminate Argall's line,he accused Invincible/Mark Grayson and his father for betrayal and Thragg despite everything, never admits his true betrayal. But humans (who look the same but are weaker than the viltrumites we killed cos of weakness) is where we draw the line?

But then a girlfriend, one of many you've impregnated in the thousands of years gets to you cos she's human(a way weaker viltrumite) and you were willing to kill a Viltrumite anyway so what's a human
Too quick bro.
Incurioisity is a hallmark of fascism so it tracks
The amount of personal growth a single viltrumite does just by receiving genuine love and affection is a nice detail about them. Lucan went from a ruthless warrior murder-machine to not even being able to cheat on his mate, fantastic work imo
Makes so much sense....

@TheKain202 oh nicely written....

Thragg and Nolan are like 2 sides to a coin
Nolan was up there with Thragg in terms of viltrumite supremacy, so much so that nearly 20 years on the planet later and he was still thinking of conquering it
kregg and lukan both developed sentiments with their lovers and the humans blindingly quick, and Thragg just walls himself off so he can't be exposed to it
Thragg sees the humans as cattle, but does he not value his own offspring at all?
I think he's as weak willed as Nolan and the rest of them, and that's why he chose to stay separate from the earthlings, because if he had to meet and talk to a woman, have a kid, and raise it, he'd be converted just like Nolan and the others
It brings to mind the trope of "Both started down the same path, but went different directions in the end"
nolan died for his family and kids, and Thragg died alone for his empire
Together they really could've had a whole new viltrum/earth empire started, if Thragg just didn't make humans expendable in the process
Well said.

They have never really experienced LOVE until they came to Earth, Game Changer.
The Grand Regent sees you with a comely lass, and says you've failed the viltrumite empire.
Lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣
With the way he views women, thragg can officially be crowned the most powerful Andrew Tate fan in the galaxy.
Omg lol 🤣🤣😆 that another way to put it 🤣😂🤣
It’s humans, not just women. Still an awful person though, just like Andrew Tate.
Nearly a dozen bodies damn, Kregg be a player
Lol 🤣🤣🤣... Crazy right 🤣?
And he loves them all
That eye patch be getting all the ladies swooning
They understand what Thragg can't or won't see.
Through us, they see a world and a future where they are free to live as they wish, do as they wish, no matter how "unessential" that life is. Where they can pursue goals beyond bloodshed, conquest, war and murder. Where they can laugh and cry and feel and mourn without fear of being seen as weak, without the fear that someone will casually murder them in that moment of perceived weakness in order to move up in rank. To be able to live free of constant fear and violence and rage, where they can grow into something exciting and vital and gentle and *new.*
We are so much like them, in so many ways.
Nice one...
You were inspired i see.
I like how Thragg literally calls them cattle, and only Anissa’s like “Damn straight” while the guys are like “she’s beautiful TO ME” energy
100 percent..
100 percent..
Been putting Macross into my backlog for so long
Guess I should start watching it later
How come Thragg never took an earth woman? and made some earth babies? Lucan is such a big softie.
He didn't stay on earth like the others... He stayed in the last vitrumite ship on the moon ...
Because then he wouldn’t be evil anymore 😂
I love how viltrumite become basically loyal puppies when they have a relationship with human, basically when they are loved they melt like icecream in boiling water, and become to their companion like puppies "she called me cutebear, i can't hurt this gentle soul, and i will not permit anything or anyone to do so, my life is now devoted to protect her"
I like how the guys confessed that they fell in love while Anissa was like: “They have been ordered to screw humans while I have to be screwed by them. *Big difference* .”
Out of all of them, Kregg's fall is the hardest. He got so addicted to earth women.
Lol my guy had 10 wives in less than 3 years lol
I disagree. Lucen never even got as far as having several mates. He hooked up with one and then stopped because it would upset her if he slept with others.
I love that pose thragg is doing in the beginning.
He’s like “bro….come on bro…..you know you fucked up. I jus- tell the truth man….why?”
Who knew the power of friendship works here
I think it’s easy for them to become infatuated because humans look just like them and are nearly a genetic match
Yeah that makes sense...
Thragg you should try living among people. You might like it.
He really should have. He knew the earth would have changed him too...
He really should have. He knew the earth would have changed him too...
@@commoneditor1170 when you dedicate your life to one particular thing it can be hard to want to change. Especially if that person has lived for a thousand years. He is a lot like Dru Zod. He literally has been programmed from birth to be a warrior and devoted his life to conquering planets.
....was that a castlevania reference?
@@ampocalypsew3883 talking to me or common editor?
i like the idea that emotions are what make us humans dangerous, like its our best weapon
Are you talking about thragg?
@@Chippaization brother please find a link for this or something, it sounds amazing
If you watch Avengers EMH (maybe assemble). Dr Doom rates all avengers and argues Captain America is one of if not the most dangerous as he inspires the other heroes to fight and fight harder
Thragg is that one friend who stays single forever while his friends have a job and a family
Really great job animating the comic! You even have small details like Thragg blinking!
Thank you very much...
If Thragg settled down he could’ve been the new Freddie Mercury
What this just show is how out of touch with life and reality viltrumites were because it was so easy for them to see the error in their perspective on life when they started to Live
Even thragg lost his purpose and was only driven by revenge and petty selfishness that kept him bad he wasnt doing it for viltrum just himself and his ego and pride at the end
Very well said.
Had Thragg try exposed himself, he will become celebrity and having a band but everyone died after his "eeeeoooo eeeeoooo" testing
Lol 🤣🤣😆
Their life long loyalty to their empire crumbled due to snu snu
Great editing. Really brought the comic to life 🔥
🙏
I remember reading this and finding it so funny that thragg was frustrated with lucan and Kreeg for basicaly the same thing but with annisa she just straight but wouldnt comply to existing with humans.😂
well like she said, for her it is not as easy to get that baby army likes those two....and when she did, yes I do not like her eeven a bit
eventually she'll find love too.
Very well put...
Kregg but black: "i luv my snow bunnies dawg i can give them up.😭"
Love is so strange. It takes even the coldest or hardest of hearts and gives them a reason to beat.
Viltrumites only know coldness, perfection and strength. It makes sense that with a little genuine love, something changes within them.
Yeah makes sense...
Very well said...
I love when people put massive spoilers in the titles
One of the greatest comic books ever written
Ok, how you managed to do that, and do it to engage us and find out more, is impressive! Well done!👏
Appreciated much 👌
Bro chose violence cuz he doesn’t know wat love is 😂💀
(Grand Regent Thragg, suffering from success)
Lol 😆😂😆
Everyone seems confused why it took Nolan longer to assimilate.
The decision to abandon your species, the mission you've had for the last 500 years, and threat of imminent death was a lot stronger.
The others didn't have that same preasure, rather than execution they got a stern talking to, and they still didn't feel like they abandoned the mission or were betrying their species.
Almost a dozen? Kregg was living the life! 😂
Lol 😂😆😆 yeah he was big time
That one older chick Viltrumite with the braid blade is absolute fucking pressure
not even viltrumites are immune to talk no jutsu
Thragg can’t beat the indomitable human spirit
Earth topples a Galactic Empire of Super Humans with love and affection.
This is kinda cute and a nice change from all the "Humanity bad hmkay" I have seen so often in recent Times.
I think the smarter move is to have them become saviors of earth then take over. Nolands plan was sound he just decided he was gonna take it by force.
Mr. We-Do-Not-Change-Our-Minds
The fact that thrag thinks that there wont be some fore of change and he will not have to adapt to that is the reason he loses command. If your not willing to change and adapt then your doomed to fail.
Very well said...
Only took months, or years in Omni-Man's case, time that's nothing to a Viltrumite, but that's all it took. There's something special about the Earth. Earth can set you free
Yeah true and works every time.
The viltrumite empire was destroyed by the Humussy
Lol 😂😂😂😆😆
The bussy was too good mane 😂😂
Its fascinating really to think what happened may have been possible with any other race honestly, the situation called for them to finally not have to use physical might or intimidation to succeed, to mate with a race that isnt a viltrumite uses skills theyve likely never used to this point, and it allows them to emotionally connect
I think it's only humans can do this to a vitrumite. That's why it has never happened ever...
@@commoneditor1170 it's because viltrumites were not allowed to breed with any race, humans became an exception due to their similarities and the near extinction viltrumite population
Beautiful writing
I’m really looking forward to seeing who they’ll cast for Thragg, he’ll HAVE to have an imposing voice to stand up to JK Simmons
I should note that when he found the bug planet, his original intention was to bring it into the empire's fold as a way to make up for his apparent failure on earth, and only really changed his mind when they showed up and started killing everyone to punish him
thousands of years of celibacy does things to a man when he finds a woman that wants to be with him
Facts...
Honestly, I was scared as sh*t for Kregg when seeing that first scene. Imagine you’re being summoned by the most powerful Viltrumite who can rip you apart in a second, and there isn’t a single thing stopping him from making an example of you when you’re out in the open… ALONE.
That's gangster...
The best part of this issue is when kregg says he loves all the women he's with
He has a big heart... 😌
No, when he had to let all his women that he loves all of them.
I heard Kregg with the voice of Clancy Brown/
Reminds me of how the Zentradi from Robotech became enamoured with human culture and eventually became friends
Even during the final battle, his own lack of love was part of his downfall. His daughter, Ursal, surrendered after seeing him use his own kids as weapons.
The only reason why Thragg is so ruthless is because he’s never loved a human. Who knows if he had a partner on Earth.
0:54 = General's a player.
😂😂😂 yeah he is...
Thragg literally "raised" a whole army by himself...
