She is not on a college team as no woman can play unless the team is willing to bring her as a backup kicker to a game and let her kick a PAT or two. At the PAT distance, 20 yards, women and men are around equal, it is just that kickers should be accurate for FGs at around 50 yards and no woman can make that consistently plus they can't do kickoffs so as a player they are only a part player.

Of course the movie was meant as a joke, at the time no woman ever kicked in college football, nor did they in high school either. The point is that any decent male soccer player would do better, it is just that they won't get the publicity so why bother. And today, 30 years after the movie, while a dozen of so women kicked in the NCAA, they were not starters, as portrayed in the movie, but PR pieces who kick a PAT or so for the cameras. Not one has been the starter or even attempted an FG over 35 yards, most NCAA kickers are supposed to be accurate to 45 yards or so and will attempt up to 65.

I was actually the first girl to play on a football team in GA. I played for the Lawrencville Black Knights back in the 90s. Long before social media. Girl are better at sports!!!
Better? Not according to a team of 17 and under boys soccer players who beat the U.S. Women's team....you know, the ones that won the Olympics and World Cup? The same thing happened to the Australian women's soccer team prior to the Rio Olympics. They were top 3 or 4 team in the world and then they played an Aussie 15 and under boys team and got beat 5-0. Don't get me wrong, girls/women can be great athletes, but males and females don't compete (in all aspects) for a reason. I applaud this young lady for her accomplishments, but she's a kicker, not a linebacker or a QB. She should be proud of herself, but lets not lose perspective here.

A boy should try out for the Ocean Springs High school volleyball team. They don't have a boys team. I'm sure he would be welcomed with open arms. Let's all initiate a breath hold waiting for that to happen. Don't get me wrong, I think it's awesome that this young lady has had some success as a kicker. But, I've found when you reverse the sexes people don't seem to be quite as "open" to it as they expect others to be when it's a girl who wants to play a sport that is traditionally for boys.
