The retrospective showcased 40 years of the master couturier's iconic designs, many of which were worn by his longtime friend and client Audrey Hepburn, whose presence at the opening dazzled every last person in the room.

Watching clips of Ms. Hepburn in 1991, I've come to the realization that her je ne sais quoi is actually a winsome melancholia. There's something slightly sad and sweet about her face, the cadence of her speech and her graceful bearing. You can see it even in the film roles of her youth. They'll never be another like her!

This is amazing, I love seeing Hepburn beyond her Breakfast at Tiffany's dress. Even older, she's one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. I don't think beyond the Galliano/McQueen era Givenchy has made it to the heights it had when Hubert was at the helm. When you see Hepburn and the retrospective of Givenchy compared to rottweilers and stars on overpriced baseball caps and sweaters it makes me sad.
not to mention he discontinued doing shows the house known for it haute couture in the haute couture calendar... well riccardos muse the kardashians and kanye is just an insult to the house original muse audrey..... according to what i read in the history it was supposedly given to an unknown designer dominique sirop to take over as a creative director for the house of givenchy since hubert himself knows him and work for him for a period of time but then LVMH didnt want him cause he was not popular so they choose galliano

Audrey Hepburn is timeless. She left us my years ago but her style and place in fashion history is permanent. Btw, I remember this clip when shown originally on Tim's show Fashion File which I looked forward to every Saturday. More cerebral than some of the others back in the day. Loved that show.

Watching Givenchy designs is like watching Dior`s or Balenciaga`s lines, you could know which dress belongs to which designer, they all had character!!! That`s what`s missing nowadays in this desposable-oriented "fashion" industry, quantity not quality.
