You should look into their history. Beastie Boys were pioneers. Not just “old rap.” Many legendary artists credit them as inspirations.

Pioneers? C'mon man. I love beastie boys. But they just slightly added a rock'ish background sound to the same exact style that they themselves said influenced them... Run DMC, Kurtis Blow, Schooly D, Kool Moe Dee, Biz Markie, and the Fat boys. Wasn't that much pioneering going on.

One of the most fun groups ever! They kept that old school rhyming style until the very end, when MCA died in 2012. Their entire career is, among many other things, a love letter to old school hip hop. #RIPMCA

What i see a lot of people miss with this song is that each verse has the same ending ryhme. 1st verse has the "ile" end ryhme, 2nd verse has the "een/eam" and the 3rd verse has the "ock/op" rhyme. Hey brother,I'm overwhelmingly impressed with the amount of ya'll younger cats discovering the Beasties music. Before Eminem there was the Beasties. They're hip hop legends and respected by their contemporaries of the 80s Pioneers in rap. I have a smile on face seeing talk about how dope the beat is and you bobbin your head feeling that shit. Shout out to you bro for enjoying the old Skool era of hip hop. 🙏✌❤😁🙏

There were 4 samples in the song: ‘Intergalactic’ by the ‘Beastie Boys.’ (1998)
    --------------------------
    1. ‘Prelude in C# Minor‘ - Les Baxter (1968) (Which is the Organ sounding Moog Machine used throughout the song right when the first verse comes into play at 1:38)
    --------------------------
    2. ‘Love Is Blue (L'Amour Est Bleu)’ - The Jazz Crusaders (1968) (Which is the jazzy bass riff used at the bridge of the song at 3:55)
    ---------------------------
    3. ‘Hang on in There‘ - The Stovall Sisters (1971) (Which are the vocals saying the line: ‘Do It!’ During the bridge of the song at (3:55) and right before the song ends (4:49)
    ----------------------------
    4. ‘The New Style’ - Beastie Boys (1986) (Which is the line: ‘mmmm...DROP?!‘ at 3:52)

Love the Beastie Boys, and this song, although not my favorite by them, holds a special place. June 1998, packing up our tent, leavingBosnia, going home after 9 months. This song comes on armed forces radio. Beastie boys hadn’t put out an album for years, and this was brand new. Everyone stopped what they were doing and listened. Yeah, Beastie Boys are legends. RIP MCA!

I would beg to differ on the analysis that rap has evolved. I think it has devolved. Not much talent, lots of sampling, no originality, and mostly one dimensional with the focus on denigrating women, material possessions, profanity, raging, and mumble rap. The old school rappers of the 80s an 90s set the standard, which is why it has stood the test of time. You can't duplicate the creators,. As a guy of a certain age, I always laugh when I see a Millennial or Gen Z person realize that an "artist" stole part of their song from someone else from decades past. The look of surprise is priceless! The Beastie Boys are one of those "Creators" along with Run DMC, LL Cool J, Sugar Hill Gang, Big Daddy Kane, Kool Moe Dee, etc.....

Someone hasnt listened to kendrick, jcole, Joey Badass, Smino, J.I.D, aesop rock, etc.
Rap has definitely evolved, but if the only place you hear music is the radio, you've fully missed out on everything rap has improved upon and only hear the pop shit. Do better

    • @CG68810
      @CG68810 3 года назад

@@joeycallan5795 Definitely not a "Boomer". I am a Gen X'er....However it is comical the obsession Millennials in particular have with "Boomers". Our generations' music was the best, which is why all of the that music is sampled by the musicians of your generation. Facts are tough. Unfortunately most of your generation (& Gen Z) think it is original, until they are sitting in a Starbucks, or at barbecue and the original song or riff comes on and their hero is exposed. That as mentioned, is always priceless. I doubt 20-30 years from now any of the peeps you mentioned will be anything other than a vague recollection. It's ok though, if they bring you entertainment now, its all good.

How far the Beastie Boys have come. They started out on Bowery St during the old CBGB days as a punk rock group. Sometime later, Ad Rock would be very instrumental getting a little neighborhood kid named James his foot in the door. Ladies Loved Cool James he thought and that became his name - LL Cool J.
