This is great advice! Thanks. I feel like I tell people this all the time. Most people know what needs to be done when it comes to editing/auditioning but they get all panicked and worry about what effects and processing to add. Focusing on the performance first and foremost will help you land more jobs, period. Audio quality is important but you can have the best studio in the world and you still won't get hired if your performance is crap.

Thank you. This is a question I have asked myself for a long time.
    This helps a lot.

Thank you so much for Sharing this! It's probably the best, and most practical, professional advice I've come across, on the matter of whether or not to edit breaths out of auditions.
Until I watched this video, I was certainly one who fell into the category of taking a lot of time to edit my entire recording to have "Finished" quality throughout the read. Now, I have a better understanding of what matters most. Although I knew that clients may only listen to a few seconds of an audition, you taught me that, aside from ensuring proper silent Room Tone is present, at the beginning, making sure my Voice Acting ability makes a favorable impression and keeping the first sentence or two clean are the factors that will matter most.
By applying my new approach, I may not immediately get more projects, but I most assuredly will produce far more auditions, in a shorter period of time.

Is it kind of messed up that you remind me of Hershel from The Walking Dead / Scott Wilson? Also stellar video as always!

Am I wrong or did you narrate the "How It's Made" series on Discovery Channel?
