- Once upon A time there lived a poor man and his wife in a town near Pandharapur. Though poor, they were leading a peaceful, contented life and were liked by all. Their daughter, possessed many good qualities since childhood.
This girl, Sakhu had imbibed in her a deep sense of devotion to God. The parents loved her immensely. She would never hurt anybody nor utter harsh words. On the other side, in the town of Karaveerapura there lived a Pandit who was so miser that people had named him ‘Krupanaraya’(‘Krupana ’means a miser). His wife Gayyalibai was a quarrelsome woman and was always insulting people and used to pick quarrels with them.
The couple had a son whose name was Oaduraya. As the son reached marriageable age, his parents began to look for a bride for him. In his search, Krupanaraya came to the town where Sakhubai was living and someone directed him to her house. Her father received him in a friendly manner. Krupanaraya was impressed with the girl’s intelligence and helpful disposition. He asked for her to be given in marriage to her son.
Though Sakhu’s father had heard about the wealthy pandit, but they were unaware of the bad name he had earned.
Krupanaraya fixed an auspicious day for the marriage. Sakhu was then only twelve years old.
Tender girl Sakhu revered her father-in-law and mother-in-law as her parents and considered her husband as God. But she was shocked to see how they behaved. The mother-in-law would scold her all the time. She had to pound paddy, churn the grains, cleanse the vessels, store the water, wash the clothes. There was no end to the tasks she had to perform. Still, Gayyalibai was not satisfied with anything she did. She would angrily shout about the dishes not property washed and go on to denounce that her mother had not taught her any work.
Her mother-in-law, after serving meals to the male members, would throw a little rice and a few other dishes into her plate. It was like the careless feeding of dogs. Many days she would not even eat anything.
With tears in her eyes, Sakhu would only pray to Lord Vittala to bless these people with good thoughts and deeds.” Vittala is another name for Lord Krishna.
Sakhu’s husband treated her as his slave and not as a life-partner.
With her parents away, Sakhu had to spend her days without any affection and love either from her husband or from his parents. She now began to love only Lord Vittala. Gayyalibai became crueler towards her.
If she sits down for a while, “You are lazy and want to escape from work.” If she sat down when elders were present, “How dare you sit before the elders?”
At times Sakhu would be very hungry; pained both physically and mentally, she would take out Vittala’s statuette and narrate her woes to Him:
“For how long should I undergo this punishment, Vittala? How much more should you test me?
You are my savior, mother, father, everything.”
She found solace in her prayers. She used to hide the statuette of Krishna in the folds of her saree at her waist and proceed with her household chores....

Sometimes it is so confusing that even after we surrender why devotees has to go through such ardent issues... The prayers could be answered in a better way... The devotee Sakhu didn't had the chance of lord service except disguise but Sakhu family enjoyed all comfort including food, chores done by lord... Amusing!

Once their was a fisherman, he is a real believer in God, everything he does, it was in the name of God, once his day finish, he was going to pray. One day, in a stormy weather, everyone decided not to take the sea, only this devotee said, God will protect me. The sea brought him in an area where no boats passes, as it was rocky. The boat broke, unfortunately and the fishermen stayed in the cold water during hours and he was still praying, saying God, am waiting for you to save me. Once saying these words, a boat was passing and it was a miracle passing at this time and in this area. They saw the poor fisherman in the cold water and threw a rope, screaming at him, take the rope. The poor fisherman said no, am waiting God to help me, as it was dangerous to stay longer, they decided to go, praying for the soul of this man. A 2nd boat came, the same scene took place, they had to leave him, because the fishermen refused. A 3rd boat came and the same story repeated. Hours passed by and the man died, arriving in front of God he said am very upset you let me die when I was counting on you to help me. God replied I heard and what have you done?you refused my help 3 times, don't blame me,blame your stupidity.
So those stories are made for which reasons? She has done the same thing as the fisherman and drowned. Sri ram taught us, even God can't go against nature when Sagar dev appeared in front of Sri Ram. Even Mahadev couldn't bring back Kama dev once He busted him.
