When I was 9, I was brutally disappointed by this movie. At the time, accuracy to the book was so crucial for me (the first two were about as close as you could get), and I kept waiting for specific scenes from the book, but they didn’t come. Just watched it for the first time in about 15 years tonight. What an amazing film. Totally stands on its own in the series. It’s dark, and funny and richly emotional. Lupin and Sirius are utterly compelling and tragic characters. Once part of a happy existence, and their friends are all dead or turncoat, and this is what’s left for them. You could end the whole series with this movie.
Alfonso Cuaron in my opinion is the franchise’s greatest director. His vision was ambitious and visionary and suiting for this instalment of Harry Potter.
@@superjackster0165 As far as I know he helped a little bit in Goblet of Fire too. But in my opinion it all went downhill when David Yates took over as director.
It's funny how the director of the best movie in the series only directed 1. I was hoping they would bring him into save fantastic beasts from becoming the borefest it is
Best piece from the Harry Potter soundtrack IMO. I know Hedwig's Theme is the one everyone is most familiar with, and it's a great piece, but Window to the Past captures the emotional aspect of the story, more so than the others. I think the PoA soundtrack is some of John Williams's best work, and it's definitely my favorite of the HP soundtracks. I was disappointed when he didn't return for any of the others. I was also disappointed when they didn't reuse Window to the Past for the scene where Harry uses the Resurrection Stone in Deathly Hallows.
Agreed. Chris was the right guy to be directing them as children so to introduce them proper into the industry. Alfonso did great with poa and he defo would have done a marvellous job at giving the franchise the direction it needed.
He was offered the job. But he turned it down because he would've had to begin pre-production on that film while he was still doing post-production on Prisoner Of Azkaban
@@superjackster0165Too bad they were very impatient, if they had been more patient Alfonso would have dedicated more time to more subsequent Harry Potter films, I would have liked him to direct Fantastic Beasts and not David Yates.
@@OriqinLCinema They were. After they finished shooting one movie, they would almost immediately have to begin shooting the next one before the kids aged out of their roles
As you a film director whenever you are adapting a book, novel or even a comic book, you have to serve the story, serve the material and not say or do what you personally want to do but instead say or do what the story/film needs according to the original source material. Don't faithfully or literally adapt what is in the book but rather be faithful to the spirit of the book/ theme(s). Remember as Alfonso Cuaron states "The only reason why a film director/filmmaker does a film is not for the end result but for what you learn in the next film." It's all about building, building up.
I enjoy Cuarón’s work. This is the best in the franchise. I wish he directed them all. It would have been a darker tone but it would have been brilliant
He should have directed all the other harry potter movies too!
la verdad que si

I agree. It sucks that this was the only film in the series that he directed

Window to the past is perfect for this video

Hands down the best HP director
Now this ^
Alfonso one of the best
The best HP director ever. Chris was good for 1 & 2 but Alfonso should have directed the rest of the film.

@@FernandoAlvarez-hz6hb to be fair they probably run a fairly tight schedule to get the films out on time.

By far the best in the series.

I always thought this one was the best directed. I read all the books.
I really like all the work you did and I really enjoyed you as a Director. Are you a friends with the other directors?
Excellent material. Away pf ego.
Spirit of the book - "who knows what that is?" Lol 😂😂
Great cereal :)
I wish he made fantastic beasts
He was actually offered the job. But he turned it down
