Thanks, Molley for your time and effort sharing your love of farming. You bring back a lot of great memories for me. I grew up in the 50's and 60's farming with my dad and although my primary career path led me to become an educator I kept my hand in farming until I retired in 2007. Our overall operation was modest and no more than about 600 acres between my dad and grandad's farms. We had cattle and hogs and fed much of the grain we harvested through them. From the mid 60's we switched to strictly beef cattle and stayed with raising Angus until about the last four years of active farming on our own in the mid 80's. It can be a great life. Good to see you enjoying it.
Your doing great Molly you will be just as good as Shane's Mom running all the Equipment in no time. Please keep up the great work we all love watching your vids. Thanks.
Molly, that STERLING almost looks too good to be a FORD! Just remember, a Truck is a Truck. It just has different Brand names. You're doing Great! NOTHING Sexier than a Beautiful Woman driving a Truck. Thank you
I see your double clutching when you shift. It won't be long and and you'll be shifting without the clutch. Don't be too hard on yourself. Every truck is different. I'll be by the store soon to get some of those potatoes. Keep up the great work!
I agree that you're going to find that speed shifting is so much easier. Run every gear to the max, then shift. And you will find shifting to the next gear is like a hot knife cutting into butter, it just slides into the next gear.
Hi Molly, the first day in a new truck can be weird it won’t take long, the door doesn’t seem to shut right if it takes a couple times try lowering your window down then shut the door there is a vacuum in the truck it needs an air escape good luck you will sort it 👍
Such great memories starting the potato harvest! Grew up in a small town in southeast Idaho, and ever since I was 10 years old to the point of leaving home I was always working on the neighbors farm and harvesting potatoes every fall, absolutely loved it!
Here in MD (near VA) I use Oats, tillage radish, and crimson clover for a cover crop behind sweet corn. I like it because all three of those species winter kill. Planted in September here, they get some very good growth before they die off.
Quack, quack, quack. Nice looking tators! As we say down in Oklahoma. Being a retired mechanic, I got to drive all kinds of vehicles. They all took some getting used to. At 68 I have learned a lot of things, and still learning. I used to tell co-workers and friends that the key to success is not being afraid of failure. I used to have pic of a horse that was tied to a plastic lawn chair. The horse would stand there all day, because it did not know the chair could not hold it back. We have to expand our horizons. Think outside the box as they say. Great job, keep up the good videos.
You are definitely one of my favorite creators Molly. It’s wonderful that you have so much new material to cover. Keep approaching things exactly has you do with no fear of messing up. All of us have messed up way more than once.
I am always amazed at the amount of potatoes you grow each year. It also seems like I see a new implement or truck every week. One hell of an operation.
You did fine for 1st run of the season….was fun watching you get the job done! Looking forward to watching this year of you guys harvesting crops out of the field. Have a safe harvest.
Great job! Remember the clutch pedal only needs to be pushed all the way down to squeeze the clutch brake to put the transmission in gear. The rest of the time you only use the top half of the pedal stroke.
Yes! I keep trying to remember that. Each time I drive the truck I get a little better. I filled one more time after this vidoe and I get to do it tomorrow again! Yay
Oh Molly... you kill me....with all the coaching you are getting, there is no way you cannot succeed at driving that truck!!! Great video! You go girl!
Your going to be professional Synchronized shifting lady soon ,,,and you will be craving driving those good ol beautiful trucks, don’t fret, you will be fine and smooth on your shifting , its way more smooth shifting out useing the clutch ,,,it will be on a day that you would never expect, good job Molly, stay classy, beautiful.thanks BigAl California
You do great work. Looks like you’re trying to move that stick a little too quick. Every truck is different too!! I’ve driven probably 75 or 100 different trucks over the years at work because we keep them 5 years and we have a fleet of 36. They all have their own personalities. Love your videos and I love your personality!! You and Shane are great!
Visited the store on our way back from Nova Scotia yesterday and bought some nice new potatoes. Was able to explain some of the process to Paula from watching your great content.
G'day Molly. Way to go kiddo :) If you put your foot on the throttle and the truck struggles to respond, drop her down a gear. Third week of spring down here in Australia. We had an early start, lots of blossom and warm days and then got hit hard with three bad frosts last week- lot of damage. Only the old missus and me here now. I've planted our spuds but nothing else yet- ground's still cold. One of our little hens brought out ten from sixteen eggs yesterday- so we win :) Love your enthusiasm- it's always handy on a farm! Jay.
That’s awesome. You totally nailed it!!! Way better than any of us watching could ever do. Love those potatoes also. Thanks for sharing this with us. 🥔
😁My favorite truck collor RED .🥰What gear depends on the grade of the road . Steep gear one. flat Gear two . Once yo get rollin shifting is easy . dolbble cluch low range break clutch hi range . watch RPM and listen to the motor to shift. 1200 to 1500 rpm with a 300 rpm drop .practice long enough and you will get so good that the clutch becomes only a way to start and stop. doing great 👍Thanks
Molly you are doing so great you are making us all proud of you ,with your can do attitude along with the fact that you have the best teachers in the business. Great work guys you all work so hard . Thank you.😊
Another great video Molly! I liked your truck and the color red. It look brand new from the outside and it looked even better cuz it matched your shirt! Your first harvest of potatoes 🥔 😋 is here, yahoo!
I remember my first days driving a really old potato truck. First day sucked.... each day after got easier.. You did very good. Thank you for sharing. Brought back many fond memories.
Hi Molly, you wanted to know what we would like to see in future videos. You doing what you do learning new things telling us about Shane's mom and a little history of Bell Farms. Along with your great can do any thing attitude, Beautiful personality and include some of Shane, Ray and Dave they have so much valuable talent and experience in so many interesting fields . You could make several videos a day and never run out of interesting content. Please keep sharing what you guys do and we will keep watching.❤😊😊😊😊😊😊
Subscribed around 2000 subscribers, now 43200. Nice to see the channel grow. As a farmer in Belgium it is nice to see how they do it on the other side of the big pond😀. How life is explaned on the farm is also educational and not too chaotic. Keep up the good work. Congratulations on your first year on youtube!
Hi Molly from Australia. Loving your content. Regarding driving that old girl try and match the revs when you shift. Might make it easier. Driving an older rig is like stepping back in time lol.
You might substitute some triticale for the cereal rye, if that is available. You may have contracts for the cereal rye. I was not sure if you meant sowing cereal rye or ryegrass? I guess the important thing with potatoes is to clean them and cool them down. Don’t worry about driving skills, everyone learns the same way. The more miles you drive, the better the driver.
Thank you Molly for filming editing and posting, I'm looking forward to all the next ones, theire very interesting and fun to watch, love from a Dutch guy living in France.
Molly put truck in second gear and then never touch the clutch. It’s all about the rpm’s of the truck and can shift. It’s hard at first because you are used to double clutch or side shift. But it’s less wear and tear on the clutch and the throw out bearing. I’m not judging or telling you but I’m looking out at the cost at the end. I love watching you potato harvest vids thank you.
Greetings from Georgia! Love your Videos!! Like the Farm, Pack, Repair and BTS stuff. Would like to see more Chicken, Duck, Dog stiff as well. Congrats on 1 year and keep up the good work!!
Hi Molly! Been following this channel almost from the beginning. You did great for the first time driving the red truck. Important, in my mind, you are not afraid to try or to get your hands dirty. I have lots of respect for that.
You doing great, only way to learn and improve is to do it. Your husband does great by letting you do it, you are hard enough on yourself. Thx for the video !!
You did fine for the first time with the Sterling. I personally never started in 1st, but that depends on the rear gear ratio. Looking forward to next year of videos. This were great.
Great video Molly, when you are getting loaded try first gear, the video looked like you were going slow enough that the truck at idle may keep up with the tractor. Then as he speeds up you may need more throttle, but as for exiting the field loaded first or second gear would be enough, I would think. The truck being loaded will make it compress the ground a bit which will make the truck have to work a little harder to get out of it., plus you probably don't want to make a ton of dust. Go with what you feel comfortable with and you will get it in time.
Thank you so much! You’re right about being able to idle along the tractor and harvester. It turns out this truck is easier to load than the blue automatic I was using the last two years. The disced ground I was pulling out onto made it a bit difficult, I was losing ground speed so fast. Thank you so much for the tips!! I really appreciate it! I have loaded this truck one more time since this video. :)
Hello I’m mark in sac..I have drove cement mixers all my life..but.. when on the job sit or just pulling out of it..I stay in a low gear..3rd maybe highest….its all different on the road…55 max….always remember you are loaded…slow on corners…I have always been safe….just thought I would say that…..nice truck….fun channel
You are too hard on yourself. You are game to try new things and don’t let your anxiety prevent you from. I like your infectious laugh. You are the best.the videos are great. Be safe and Gob Bless.
Nice job Molly driving the red truck. Its not something that's easy especially when they are loaded. Or keeping pace with Spudnick. Love that name. Lol

Interesting video Molly. The potatoe crop looks fantastic, size and amount. Could you give an in depth video on the working of the potatoe harvester? "Cornzilla" for the corn and "Spudnik" for the potatoes. Of course.🤣 Thanks for the video.
What a wonderful attitude! Like I tell my daughters, you can do anything!!
I am always looking for you and your videos I so enjoy the videos
You are amazingly beautiful and learning so much, hope you have a bountiful harvest.
I am always amazed at the amount of potatoes you grow each year. It also seems like I see a new implement or truck every week. One hell of an operation.
Hahah this one looks new now, (wax job) this truck has to be early 2000’s. We have had it for quite some time. New decals make it look nice :)
Top matches the truck, cool, Jack, RI, USA
I miss potatoe harvest. Did it for 4 years in Monticello, ME, for Tommie Good of Good Farms.

Are those “Idaho” Potatoes ?
Lmao😜
You doing great, only way to learn and improve is to do it. Your husband does great by letting you do it, you are hard enough on yourself. Thx for the video !!
It is admirable that in a developed civilization, farming uses modern machinery and equipment, helping to increase economic efficiency.
Congrats on the first drive of the "new" truck. After a week or so of driving that, you'll be like an old pro.
You did fine for the first time with the Sterling. I personally never started in 1st, but that depends on the rear gear ratio.
Looking forward to next year of videos. This were great.
Thank you Bob! Love your truck
